Tuning  No Hobby For Old Men

I've never even investigated using a dive shop. My only bottle is an expired Scott air bottle. I am pretty sure nobody will fill it. I went from a hand pump to the Yong Heng filling guns to the Yong Heng filling the bottle which then fills the guns. That is still my preferred path but I bought a GX CS2 as a backup and sure enough, fill times with the Yong Heng went up about 50% and I bought a piston/connecting rod assembly I will install later this week (might be as soon as tomorrow if I can find time). I also still own 2 hand pumps as my ultimate backup. I wouldn't shoot nearly as much if I had to hand pump but at least I could shoot some. The CS2 is not really a bad way to have air. Takes about 5 minutes to fill a gun with the air filtered through the GX filter but that is a lot quicker and lower effort than a hand pump.

In this small way I may be a bit like Scott. I like figuring out what is wrong with a compressor or gun. I'd rather work on a gun than a compressor but I'd rather work on either of them than one of my vehicles or household appliances. I do all of those things when necessary. But if something starts really getting to me I find another solution. Hire it done or get rid of the source of the frustration. Or put it aside for awhile. I will be 70 later this year and I cannot work as long as I used to but I can still do things and I prefer that to sitting in front of the TV (although Youtubes on airguns are pretty enjoyable).

I'm at 8 PCPs now, 7 of which work. That seems like more than I really need so I've started talking to my son and son-in-law about their potential need for an airgun for them and my grandkids to use. The grandkids are a bit young (9, 6, 5, and 3) which also puts more demands on my kids time but I think that is where at least a couple guns will go. I figured out a small thing on the non-working PCP so I also need to find the time to do some work on it. My son accepts that airguns are effective against squirrels (he knows I've killed 72) but I think I will need to show my son-in-law but that is OK. His father is a farmer so he should be able to find us a place to hunt close to his house and I will make a road trip. It would be nice to pass the hobby on a generation or two.

N/A  HW100 KT replaced the oem tube .

I tried a 10% overfill with my HW100S, it had no affect on the velocity and gave several more shots overall. The Rat Works cylinders are great!

I usually set the cutoff pressure on the JTS Comp1 compressor that I have at a smidge over 3000 on its gauge and get 42 shots from my .22 HW100S, 3 mags. The gauges from Rat Works, Weihrauch and JTS might not all agree exactly anyways.

I know you might shouldn't but most people call 200 Bar 3000 psi interchangeably. I definitely would not want to go 3300 or higher as that would be asking for trouble from the gun's regulation setup.

Other  Notos barrel band with pickney rail

Check out c88machining on ebay.com. he has the FX barrel kits.
Oh nice!! I'm very familiar with the seller. Bought one of his first batches of Notos plenum kits thru here. He's a great seller, sent over the updated thread end when we noticed LDC didn't screw on well. Bet the FX kit is awesome. Found one that converts to .25, that's crazy! Link
Just couldn't stomach the $$ for the conversion and then the liner after that.

Other  "Which PCP air gun should I choose?"

Picked this M60B .35 up in March, for medium-size pest control. FX 81 grain pellets @ 650 FPS hit hard. Quarter-size target circles @ 50 yards is no problem. .35 is too much for birds but form, function and accuracy of the platform is impressive. Short and heavy with 500cc 250 BAR aluminum bottle, carbon fiber replacement will lighten. Came with old style, "remove-to-fill-bottle," replaced with male foster fitting installed collar, $37 from Wes at airgunarcheryfun in Canada. WM

AEA  Possible problem with a Megalodon

I have the solution to your problem I went through the same problem and figured out the issue...the problem is the bolt screw that sticks out to be able to de cock the rifle rubs on the half moon track when is charged to 4500 psi..is annoying but I took an Allen wrench to it and took it off and just have it in my rifle case if i have to decock the rifle manually I'll screw it quick decock it then take it off but that is the solution the bolt handle rubs on the frame and it does not let the hammer strike completely. Now i get full power shots at 4500 psi I put it through my chronograph and im getting 930 fps with the 230 gr texoma slugs
is it really that easy just take an Allen wrench and take off the cocking bolt sticking out of the gun? im on day two with my AEA megalodon 22 inch 58 cal and when i filled it to 300 bar it wont fire it just makes a thud sound and nothing happens im assuming its valve lock but im really not sure, before taking off the cocking bolt do i need to fully degas the gun ? is there any instructions you can give me so i dont mess anything up, thanks any help will be very much appreciated 🙏

FedEx One Rate - Flat Rate Shipping

I've had 2 claims in over a thousand packages I've shipped through UPS, FedEX and USPS.

The UPS claim was denied due to the item information not matching what the claim was for.

I sold an airgun, I was honest and they denied ot because I didn't include the model number.

The other claim was approved but I never used "air gun", I simply put Umarex Notos in the description and it went straight through.

YMMV
Insurance with any of these shipping companies is a straight up scam. It's like buying an extended warranty for a chainsaw that these box stores try to add on at the register (back in the day when you had people actually check you out). You'll never use it, and they will make it so complicated if you try to that you will just give up. it's straight up profit for them. If you are someone like me that ships hundreds of items a year, I don't waste my money on it. I self-insure. With the money I saved by NOT buying their insurance I can replace an item that gets lost or damaged several times over and still be money ahead. Obviously if you are someone who only ships a few boxes and you are sending a $2000 air rifle my only advice is have all your I's dotted and T's crossed and cross your fingers that something doesn't happen whether you purchased insurance or not. It will be a crap shoot either way.

Resources  simple, lightweight, easily moveable target for = creating dope

I just use a cardboard box with a brick in it, with a string tied to it.

Start at about 60 yards, shoot, then pull the target towards you with the string using a rangefinder to check your progress.

I'm lazy and dumb but it works for me.

N/A  PP-800R Hammer Spring & Parts, Artemis, Diana, Snowpeak

Veradium Air in Texas does a lot of work with Wes. He has springs
Hello @bthurman

Wes sent me an email showing that he had the springs back in stock so I placed an order for some.

I think I will take @marflow 777 suggestion and order some "non-standard" sizes and do a little testing with them also.

Thank you for the information,

Hey Americans, Thinking of y'all today. God Speed.

Well i do say i have a Texan living deep down inside of me, though some say it is just the viking left overs.
But whatever it is it do not like many of the things that happen here, in spite of me being brought up in a ultimate socialist ( communist ) environment.
But the commie relationship ( my father ) thing cant have been that bad, when i sailed the 7 seas the US embassy stamped the hell out of my passport so i had less " problems " entering the US, though of course this was before 9 - 11 and that passport also expired a long time ago.

Update - 10/9/2024
I’ve been using my S6 on top of my Redwolf HFT rig. The more I use it, even at 16 X, the more I like it. Many of my other scopes are the opposite experience. Here’s what I’ve figured out…. The S6 is so damn sensitive that even the slightest rotation can move me past my focus point. But, if I pay really close attention, I can catch the moment I pass the sweet spot and ever so slightly back up and Shazam… I’m in there. But you definitely have to practice this with the S6 to “get it”.

I’m shooting HFT at the Shutzenfest in Boerne TX This weekend using the new S6. It will be interesting to see how well it does on an unknown course with different targets/lighting etc… stay tuned 🎯

N/A  PCP with Swappable Bottles/Reservoir

Ah that's the Umarex Zelos right? I was looking at those.

Seems like Umarex rebrands/pretties up the Snowpeak guns?

Aka... Notos = PP750, Zelos = MB60/MB60B

History: The M60 came out then the option to add a bottle. Then the adapter had a gauge and a spin off valve.

Then the Zelos arrived.

The M60 and the Zelos are tube guns, the M60B is a bottle gun.

The M60/B is Canadian/world and the Zelos is USA.

Not essentially identical but completely identical except for engraving.

FX  I forgot how light the M3 actually is

Weight is definitely a factor in pcp rifles. Been into the ground squirrels for about 5 years now. Started with firearms and soon my hunting partner started using his pcps. I borrowed his for a few years and used his umarex till the trigger fell off and then tried his older fx. I think it was a MK2. Also tried his pantera. Then I ordered an Aselkon which I have used a couple years. That gun scoped with a Cabela’s intensity LR 4-16 Weighs in at 11.9 lbs. After acquiring my new FX m3 in 30 cal and scoping it with an Sig Whiskey 4 5X20 my weight is around 8.5 lbs. That’ll make it a lot easier carrying around next year when the squirrels come back out.
Im not much of a bipod guy as I use Primos trigger stix with 3 points of contact. Still have to haul them around but much easier with your gun hand less fatigued.
