My FWB-124D (.177) has gotten the following out to 60 yds without any issues at all: Rabbits, Squirrels, Crows, chipmunks, pigeons, starlings and sparrows. As everyone has already stated, an accurate airgun is required, not an option. MY FWB can hit a quarter at 60 yds all day long.

Jim. thats why i picked up a couple extra SCBA bottles for $50.00 each on Craigslist. I spend the time working in my shop on fill day and fill them all up. good for months that way ! LOL

I just got one but in.357

The ARH soft spring with OEM guides has a good shot cycle. I think this spring is about 12fpe. If you don't use the steel top hat that might reduce the power slightly. A TbT delrin short stroke spacer is another option. The shot cycle is a little snappier but the air volume is reduced and this can lower velocity slightly.
I've tried different springs and found that going too low in power can increase lock time and affect accuracy. For me 12fpe allows for accuracy at 10-50 yards while not disturbing my sight picture much.

My cheaper drs synthetic hangs if not beats the other 2 for accuracy

It’s important to know that the rear sight on Sheridan/Benjamin/Crosman pumpers that are pressed on with shims that are putting pressure against the soldier joint between the receiver tube and barrel. Add a scope with a Sheridan or Buck Rail mount and more pressure is added. Soldier joints can deteriorate or time. That pressure can help the barrel to separate from the receiver tube. I’ve seen many that have. Difficult to repair. I see the rear sight as a hindrance to the design of these rifles. A peep sight is far superior anyway. If adding a peep sight or especially a scope, the rear sight should be removed. IMHO borrowed ad.

I started with a Benjamin Marauder pistol (Prod) and a hand pump. It only stores 60 cc of air and can only be filled to 3000 psi so it is a great gun for hand pumping. I found the stock tune a little low on power and turned it up some and it's taken 17 squirrels for me so far. If I hadn't added an Avenger next, I might still be hand pumping. For small guns with modest pressure needs I found it works fine. Others are more tolerant of hand pumping and do it for much larger guns. Another variable in my mind is target shooting versus hunting. Hunting requires relatively few shots so hand pumping is not bad. Target shooting can involve many more shots where hand pumping gets old.

My other reason to comment again on this is my recomendation of a 22 caliber. I think it is the best all around choice but I've been enjoying my P35-177 and it's taken 15 squirrels for me so far. Pellets are even cheaper than 22. The regulator came set to 125 bar in my 177 versus 135 or more for the 22 and 25. It also uses less air per shot. I can get close to 100 shots per fill with the 177 whereas the others are closer to half that. So if I was hand pumping I would seriously consider a 177. It has adequate power and it's only real disadvantage for targets is the very low bc of the pellets makes it more wind sensitive. But if you are hand pumping the low regulator setting makes it possible to fill to a lower pressure and the greater shot count keeps you shooting longer before refilling.

You may want to ask if he could swap out the whole thing so you get a true "Sniper" in a "Sniper" case. When and if you ever go to sell it, these little details may become important!

I used to buy/sell/trade a boat load of powder burners. Now that I look closely at the 777s and after owning a rebuilt 717, I would say that a 95+ 777 without original box and all inclusions would be worth $400 if it was rebuilt with a good exhaust valve. Probably add $100 for a good condition complete box (papers, pellets, tools, lube, patches and rod) with a good condition Daisy shipping box. I suspect the only difference in complete takedown between a 777 and 747/717 is that on the 777 you must raise up the metal rear sight all the way till it will flip forward and loosen the screw that resides inside till the clam shell comes apart. After that it is all the same.

I'm going to keep both of these 777s and order an Ambi grip for one. I can shoot either LH or RH and that will allow me to shoot 2 at once or shoot LH or if a LH shooter wants to shoot with me or if a righty wants to shoot informally.

After more research I’ve settled on getting a scuba tank (easier to source and cheaper) to fill the majority of a weapon’s tank, and then use the RovAir to get up to 4500psi. We’ll see how long this setup lasts me.

Thanks, In the end I cleaned and rough zeroed. Time for 3 different pellets/slugs. This thing is stacking round on round. Very impressed.

Thanks for a real picture of the Diana Bandit and use of its scope rails. I'm quite interested in the gun as a replacement for my Hatsan Mod 25 Supertact springer carbine. BUT it looks like mounting any scope / red dot on the Bandit will eliminate use of the iron sights.

And for my use case of pest control over a range of 20' - 60' that's a big problem because of offset - as just now mentioned by bubbahotep. A red dot is a great help at the further ranges so I really want one on the gun, and I adjust if for about 50'. But at 20' it's almost useless with the POI nearly an inch low.

My setup now is a Hatsan Optima 1x30 red dot which, since it fits on the 11mm rails, gives me enough co-witness to use the iron sights at short ranges. And, again because it fits 11mm, also has as little offset as I'm probably going to get in any scope.

The lesson I've learned is that while full scopes work great if you're shooting at 50 yds, they're going to be a net negative for backyard use. And the higher they mount the more negative they'll be, besides more likely to completely block the iron sights. I earlier looked at Gamo rifles which don't even have iron sights - those would have been a big mistake. And at a high profile x2 reflex scope which would have let me drill holes at 50' (the gun is good) but would have made the gun useless close in.

A corollary is that if your backyard gun has an 11mm dovetail, thinking of mounting a picatinny sight via an adapter is pointless because that will definitely block the iron sights.

I wish I'd understood these things before so many hours of work finally drove home the now-obvious geometry issues.

A leapers UTG bug buster 3-12x32 scope is the perfect size.

Well think I found rite speed for slaps in my p3 & hm1000x! P3 reg set at 130 ,speed 980-1000fps. Got my first 1” group at 100yrds! Zeroed my scope at 35yrds and less than 1/4”, at the distance. Also I clean slugs and lubed them. The raw, I cleaned barrel before we went. And after 4 mags finally got it to holder group 1/4” at 35yrds. It’s shooting slaps at 940 -950fps. At 100yrds 1” groups! Wind was 7-8mpa. I love both these guns. And my Texan 457 held its own like usual 1” group at 100yds. Exciting day for me. This chronograph has made such a difference in tuning my rifles. Now after getting my buddy’s raw shooting good. I’m trying to figure out how to talk my wife and let me get one. After buying airacuda max & p3 in last couple months!
