American Air Arms, RAW, RTI and every other brand that doesn’t have disassembly videos GET WITH THE TIMES!

I wasn't picking on you or your techniques, it's awesome you found a way, without screwing up anything. Don't you know that successfully doing something is only possible by having years of experience first? I'm kidding to highlight the conundrum involved here. I just hate to see where America has ended up, and seems to want to be, helpless, but with a warranty to cover your problems. I'm out on this one.
Your point is well made and I agree. I only buy PCPs I know I can easily work on myself. But again I've had lots of experience so it comes second nature. Having newer people into this I would like to see better manufacturer support on this.

755 yards .25 M3, Absolute MOA/Ravin, Corbin Slugs with some wind.

please I'm trying to get into long distance target shooting again and I'm going with the airforce Condor 22 caliber..
can anyone please help me know what kind of slugs work best for it..
brand names would be great too..I noticed that you can't just order 22 caliber because there's different sizes..
thank you for any help.
Mark
Mark the .2175” Griffin RBT 32 grain from the 1:17.7 standard were what shot best for me. Anything lighter ok. 32 were absolute best sub 1/4@ at 100yrds. 945fps to 1040fps.

Low pressure like 1500-1800 kept valve open completely and topped 1187fps. I don’t want to go supersonic but I possibly could go heavier if speed got me 36-40grainers in the green stability zone.

As it is 32’s, sub sonic, or a faster twist barrel for me. 200 is easy and sub 1” consistently. Past that I would just use the .257 72’s at 945.

if my looking tells me anything it might have a leather seal Knibb has them but that was just a quick look
if you thing it is broken you are going to have to take it apart and if you can't these old 23's have very little value
JG air guns has parts just take it apart see what you need and find the parts

Umarex  Notos cocking got gritty

Glad that worked out, they at least need to change the directions and recommend something more than a few drops of silicone every 500 shots.. With how how much force it was taking and how badly it would bind, impressive that a little paste got it operating smoothly...

I'm glad, I really didn't want to deal with sending it in... I would have just ended up buying a new pcp that cost way too much that I don't need.
Took a few days for umarex to get bak to me about my guantlet. But they were gd got the fed x labels emailed just make sure u have ur sales invoice

AEA  Problems

To guys that know stuff...
AEA megoladon.58 cal issues.
1) the brass pin that is seated in the clear portion of the magazine keeps falling out .the place where I bought it said they've never seen this issue
2) in the back where the rear tank screws onto on the gun itself inside the rear block,if u will where the valve is loosens up to where I can freely turn it with my fingers .it needs a special tool to tighten properly.

So the first issue I can fix but of course I have to take it apart and press the brass pin back in the cover ..it works for a bit and happens again. But the place I bought it was trying to telle I'm using it wrong which I'm not and just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't happen to other ppl since it can be fixed with simple tools so maybe noone bothers to complain if this is your attitude about it .
He wouldn't oblige me sending new mags but instead wants to send me the clear plastic part.

The second issue I was surprised at
I take off the tank after every use
Anyone have these issues

AirMaks Arms  Further adventures with the Caiman!

I am currently coaxing the OEM reg into the 150-160 bar window in small increments. The stock reg is a pretty lame device with coarse adjustment and a soft sealing surface that I augmented with a delrin disc (don’t ask!) that goes unregulated if one tries to make too big a jump in pressure. The bellville spring arrangement was modified to accommodate higher pressure operation. I currently have it inched up to a 880 fps plateau with the 16g slugs. If this reg doesn’t make it, I’ll work on a solution involving a universal Huma reg. It’s a matter of completion at this point! The plenum volume is sufficient to support my goal. If I reach it, I’ll experiment with choking the oversized porting through to the barrel.

Hatsan Spark filter recommendations

I have been considering this filter as well. Is there a recommendation filter life and when to change?
I would check the filter after about every 3 hours of usage and since the filter is clear, look at the media to check for discoloration and or moisture 👍.

Daisy  Who has seals for Turk Daisy/Winchester 1000,

Maybe something to start on as well??

"said I got the main spring and piston seal from Air Rifle Supply, I meant AIR Rifle Headquarters. The spring was an E9870 euro universal-Bam-chinese-Win 1000. The seal was a Hatsan 95-striker- win 1000. "

You can measure the main spring and match it up with something from arh or vortex anyway .

The seal ??? Maybe like said above just fish out a available hatsan seal . Like the hat95 seal fits a few other models..

Snowpeak  Snowpeak M16

I kinda liked the m16 myself ( not the bottle one)

Being not a springer the sky's the limit on a scope to use ..

Personally for air gun something in mildot for hold over/under then AO . Maybe 4x16 min ..

I also found brands with no questions asked lifetime warranty and quick satisfaction it f needed is a saver ... Like athlons and being in the Kansas city area .

Good luck.

N/A  Starter PCP one size fits all? : .22 vs .25 vs .30?

.22 is my preferred general shooting, pesting, plinking, hunting and target shooting caliber. It's preferred because of the (reasonable) cost of air and ammo, variety of projectile choice available and suitable power for my applications. I shoot a lot so ammo cost is a concern for me.

Years ago, when .22 PCPs were typically 30 fpe, I bought a FX Royale 500 (.25 caliber) for medium sized pests (groundhogs, raccoons and porcupines). The Royale is a great airgun that I still shoot often but my .22 caliber Impact MK2 tuned to 25g pellets has more power and taken over that pesting duty.

Since .22 power is plenty my small pesting and adequate for medium pests I'll stick to that.

If pesting and hunting MEDIUM sized animals are the main activities, then I'd strongly recommend a .25.

I don't have a .30 (locally, ammo is VERY expensive) because if the pest is larger that 25 pounds I'm going to grab a rimfire or centerfire (coyotes, wolves and bears around here).

Cheers!

FX  Finally, FX Impact M3 ... and opinions

I'm an FX lover, not that they are the only airgun out there, but I like them. I've had Royales, Cyclones, Streamlines, and Dreamlines, but just never got around to the Impact. Well, after some trading and buying, I ended up with two, an X, upgraded to M2 is in the works, and an M3 Bronze .22. I finally got the M3 and shot it for the first time today, and was surprised and impressed.
First, it is a standard, (my M2 is a compact), and lighter than I expected, very easy to point, carry and handle. It is very comfortable. I have a Dream Tac Compact, and the M3 seems lighter and handier. Beautiful, the gold receiver looks really nice and the gun just looks very good, with the finish being top notch.
The trigger needs some adjustment, but it pretty darn good as is. I scoped it with a Vector Veyron 3-12X44 and started shooting with FX 18gr pellets, and was surprised at how it did not like them at all. Now after I got done, my guess is I didn't have the gun tuned for them. I switched to a different tune and to JTX 18.1 gr pellets and things jumped to the "fantastic" realm. 878 fps avg 8 ES with reg 2 on 98 bar. Accuracy is stunning at 30 meters. I think it's possible that I didn't have the tuned right and I might have gotten some junk pellets. One thing is sure, at that tune, air use was very good, as I was getting a ton of shots. I need to do more, obviously, but for a first go at it, this is very encouraging.
The noise lever was pretty amazingly quiet, it could be the most powerful gun I own, and likely the quietest for sure. Even shooting out of my garage, where even quiet guns will pop a bit, this thing is almost dead quiet. The firing cycle is very quick and clean, with no bad behavior or noises. I need to put on a different grip, and generally get used to the M3, but it fits and feels great.

I was hesitant to sell some of my airguns to get the Impacts, but it looks as though I'll love them. Much more power should I decided to use it, and although the thing looks fiddly to adjust, it is fairly straight forward and you can change the tune pretty quickly.

I dunno, I just had ignored the Impact for a while, but I'm enjoying fooling with it. The light weight and all the bells and whistles will keep me going for a while. I can't wait to compare it to the M2, when I get it back from the shop.

RAW Rapid  RAW reg problem.? it's a Huma

Huma generally makes GREAT regulators !!!
just that one shown I don't think is one.
So I’ve got a couple huma raw regs
They also don’t have a snapring as per usual design.
Possibly if has to do with the brass pip that has to be threaded in behind the adjustment screw. For opening the bottle valve.

But the reg piston retainer is threaded into those same threads, following by the brass piece

Drager

it's just for yard work, controlling the pests that eat the fruit & vegetables
Mmm, those creatures need killin.

Usually the grays get a pass, but this weekend I saw one stealing strawberries. It’s a young one and more brown than the rest, but not a fox squirrel.

Easy to ID so I am watching and waiting.

What critters are raiding your garden and what is the tool of choice?

FX  I finally found the slug for .25 Superior 1:24

You need to track your accuracy to find out when you need to pull a patch through to keep your accuracy up. You don't need to clean the shroud or suppressor that often, if at all, actually. I know it makes some people feel better, but try not doing it and you will see my point. Shooting FX Hybrids out of my Paradigm, I have to pull a patch every air refill, about 35 shots. I don't know how many pellets it would take, they seem to always shoot good. Slugs are a totally different animal. If you figure out your number for your barrel you can keep accuracy going for quite a while before you actually have to do more than just pull a patch. This saves a lot of time to do.
I haven't cleaned the inside of the shroud or the moderator in 5 months. About 3200 pellets, and 600 slugs. The jam nut and thimble looked like a lead blizzard. The spacer discs were worse.. I had the shroud off. So I did it. I've shot 2 full mags so far.. it's tightened up some since being leaded. I would imagine a LW or CZ barrel takes on more lead than STX. Either way. I'm shooting single hole now at 35. Gave a tiny bit more pressure and spring and now the 28s are flying like lasers at 938~941fps. I'm thrilled. I am at the point where I'm not using the actual 1" EBR Target 10 Ring. But individual pellet holes as targets... I'm so content with this. No slug has come close. I already keep a log book. Also have a little bit of a terrible case of OCD. My bench has stacks of tins. (DATED on day of last shot... The stacks are separated by baggies of fouled patches from cleanings.

Edit: in my mind I just look at the 35 group and multiply by 3 for estimated 100y performance. This weekend will be the true test.

Simulated ELR,

Interesting ! I went the other way , i shrunk the target . I shoot low power .177 now the shrunken target is 1 MOA @ 16.5 yards. That equals a center dot of .174 circumference and the inside edge of the next ring out is .179 which means i have to completely erase the center dot and not nick the next ring out .
you right i have not accomplished this yet , a few close but have always (majorly) nicked the next ring . OR not even hit the next ring hahaha
At 20 yards indoors with my .177 Impact tuned to <12 FPE, I shot a 5 pellet group of 0.191 edge to edge . I have been trying to go smaller but the twist rate is too fast causing the pellet to walk a bit when it hits the target.

If I can shame a good friend of mine into selling me his awesome MK2 I will see about replacing the FX barrel system wth a Lothar Walther 1:36 twist air rifle barrel and tuning to <= 5 joules.

Crosman  The Crosman 105 Pistol 177 cal.

The Crosman 105 Pistol 177 cal.

Excerpt from my CD “Old Airguns and Memories.”

Hello to all,

The Crosman 105 .177 cal./106.22cal. Pump pistols were made from 1947 -1953; during their production time frame there were several names allotted to the pistol; “Bullseye”/ “Target” and finally, “Pneumatic Single Shot” all essentially the same pistol except for calibers as I recall.

The 105/106 series all utilized a unique slotted pump lever, the first series had two openings in the pump lever, the final versions had only one open grip area on the pump lever. I am not sure when the change was made in this area but I suspect it had to do with broken pump arm levers, so Crosman eliminated the front opening, close to the pivot pin, in favor of a more solid pump lever to address this weakness (*this is just my thoughts I have no documentation to prove it!)

The pistol has an OAL of 11 3/8 inch, weighed right at 2 lbs, barrel length 8 3/8 inches, rear sight adjustable for windage and elevation, safety is a trigger blocking push type located on frame, bolt cocking design, plastic single molded grip panel. Overall, a very sleek looking pistol, with the unique open slotted pump lever! This was Crosman’s first venture into the pump-up pneumatic pistol field as I understand it.

I have never seen any factory velocity quotes for these pistols, just a recommendation of 4-6 pumps, but we will have a look at that as well as accuracy; there is plenty of historic info available on the net regarding these pistols, I am not a historian, so we will move on.

I picked up my C -105.177 caliber at a gun show a few years ago (non-working) thought it was time to give it a fresh rebuild, so after completion of the rebuild I set out to Chrono and test for accuracy. A few notes on the rebuild that some may find of interest, or maybe not! The exhaust valve seal was literally crumbled dust as was the check valve seal, and the valve body gasket. Consequently, it appears that the seals were original, however it was clear that the pump piston cup had been replaced previously, as there were scratch marks on the pump lock nut and there was some real suction pulling the pump from the tube. I think someone had replaced the pump piston cup hoping that would fix it and when it did not; decided not to go any further, just conjecture on my part, never know for sure?

I set up and Chronograph the M-105 with Benjamin 7.9 grain HP; the factory literature I read stated 4-6 pumps, so I ran a series using 4 – 6 – 8 -10 and 12 pumps the velocities were as follows 269 fps, 323 fps, 354 fps, 374 fps and 397 fps. The 10-12 pump series was a pretty good strain on the pump linkage, so I settled on an 8-pump max @ 354 fps 2.2 ft. lbs, not too bad for a 70-year-old pneumatic pump pistol!!

Accuracy was tested at 30 ft. using the Benjamin 7.9 gr. pellets, I tried several others but the Benjamin delivered the most consistent accuracy results, 5 shots were always inside 1 inch (unless I jerked as in the target photo!), the target photo was 5 shots in .985” center to center, I was able to occasionally achieve .750” center to center 5 shot groups, this 70 year old air pistol is capable of consistently less than I inch 5 shot-center-center groups at 30 ft., which is certainly acceptable to me.

I subsequently wrote an article; on the Crosman M-130 self-cocking pistol that replaced the M -105/106 series. After having firsthand reviewed both now; in my opinion, the M-105/106 series were far superior pistols in almost all categories, better sights, more power etc. I have read that the self-cocking M-130 series eliminated an over pumping/valve lock problem and was heavily touted as a major improvement; I don’t think so; I KNOW IT IS POSSIBLE (valve lock), but it is something that never happened in my experience, course I did not try 30 pumps either!! I never met any sensible person who had this problem or experienced such in all my years of handling these type of old air guns if used properly. The M-130 was simply a cost cutting effort in my view; others of course may disagree!!!

Anyhow glad I have my 105.

Garey;

6K Nitrogen Tank Arrived

I typically keep 2 N2 cylinders on hand, regulating the higher pressure of the 2 and just using a fill station on the lower pressure cylinder.

After 5+ years of exchanging many cylinders with 2500psi remaining I finally picked up a booster. Now I can run my cylinders down to <1kpsi and still boost guns to over 3kpsi.

While not required, having a good reg and booster pump will enable you to maximize the benefits of buying clean, dry, high pressure gas vs compressing your own.....
