Wonderful YouTube channel on airgun performance and accuracy

I would say, yes a rifling will rise wear as it increase friction / contact surface, but i also think at least in our " pure " lead slingers that wear will be minimal.
If you was shooting a smooth bore in a dusty place, the dust on pellets will probably be more abrasive / wearing than the rifling will do, so it must be minute things in this regard.

I do not like the AI or TTS ( Test To Speech ) things, to me it is a sign of laziness on the part of the producer of the content.
I acknowledge there can be a language barrier, and you sure also often hear that when AI or TTS try to pronounce a word spelled wrong, or i also think poor grammar can trip such software.
Aliso acknowledge some peple do not want their face on the tube, i am not too happy about that myself, though i have shared a few private videos in here, so wide open still just not searchable on youtube.

While traditional school / class room education was nothing but a nightmare to me, i can do it, especially with things i find a interest in, so i would take a guy and a black / white board giving me the run down.

red dot

Anyone looking for a red dot for their rifle I would recommend this one, it was easy to dial in and amazingly accurate, I been popping expired tins of pellets from 60 yards even when they spin sideways. minute of squirrel all day long
Um...the sight ISN"T...accurate !
The person doing the initial sighting in, and then USING the sight is !

The...dot...is JUST a...dot ! It moves around where-ever the person holding the gun...tells it to go with his/her hands.

Karma  Figment of anyone else’s imagination??

Skout/Smart Parts did the same thing in the paintball community. Sued a lot of good people right out of business. A person doesn't start a business to 'do the right thing'. They don't start a business to be everybody's friend.
They do it for money.
Yes happens all the time in just about every industry

RTI  P3

There really well built with a nice trigger. I had one in .30 & shot some very good groups at 100 with it. The factory grips are excellent for me & feel great. Your goona love it man !!! I ran a long extention for bipod on mine. It had some twist to it using it at farthest setting. If moved back just a bit on the ACRA section it would be better.

Benjamin  New SAM-rod... problems/questions

All very helpful and insightful replies, my gratitude to you all thus far! Tuning on the knee.. I just gave that a quick scan through and that is fascinating stuff!! Definitely something to dive a bit deeper into and put in the mental toolbox. Thank you for that reference particularly.

I'm not an expert yet on pressure systems and that hasn't been my background, but I can conjure up a bunch of different things in my mind all the way from the diameter and brinnel of the lead pellets I'm using, to some unattenuated harmonic in the barrel system, to an occluded control signal port on the regulator, to... etc, etc... exactly what i didn't want to get into... a science project.

I do "science stuff" all day and airgun vermin patrol was my hope to just mentally check out and eradicate some vermin around the property.

My nephews have got me into playing some video games with them and they are absurdly addictive. Vermin Patrol is that experience to the power of 10!:cool: My wife thinks I need professional counseling for it 🤗 🤗 Seriously, the challenge is insatiable to me. Since June of this year, I lost count after 400 confirmed. I have got to be in the neighborhood of 500 of the little critters now. And I only missed once!! (small text... per 2 shots 🤥)

I will probably do the science thing tonight though and go see if I can actually record Shot string married to Velocity married to pressure tonight for the "sake of science". And after that I'm probably done with it until I call Crosman Benjamin tomorrow.

Has anyone fired projectiles at slower speeds to help determine the accuracy at longer distances?

Omg seems to be some serious information overload I got going right now. 🤯 All good info and understandable why it wasn't as simple as once thought. Thanks to all for your contributions. There are some great minds here that's for sure!

RAW Rapid  RAW chassis grip bolt & nut spec.?

Finding a grip that fits your own ergos definitely helps with a consistent trigger pull 👍. I am glad Martin is offering more different ones. I am sure you will find one!
I think I will try this from Martin. Maybe not in red but same grip. He has a few different colors.

Slug velocites.

How many here shoot .30 cal? Looks like most people are shooting .22 or .25

I am new to Airgunning, and wanted to get in to long range, so I went with a .30 cal for the potential downrange energy, but am having a hard time finding much info on .30 tuning. Maybe I should have gotten a .22 .... haha
i just got a .30 panthera recently. i'm starting out with 70gr slugs at 950. Had my first real outing with it today, i think i need to work on tuning it some more, was getting some wider than expected spreads (40fps). only at 160bar on the reg, i think i need more air on it, or less hammer, to stabilize the tune.

the 70gr are the ones shooting best from the limited selection i had. i ordered some heaviest nsa slugs to try out.

i have a .22 drs pro coming, it should be shooting 33gr slugs at 950fps.

it seems in my limited experience, a lot of guns like the 950+ range for slugs, OR shoot them well in the low 800s. my gk1 shoots some 28.5 gr slugs fantastically at 50 yards, at only 830fps.

JTS  Aircuda max

Just got mine three weeks ago. So guess they solved the problem.
JTS Warranty Department offers plastic spacer to fill manufacturing error created open space between wooden stock and metal action, at the single stock bolt, possible Dealer installed already. If you tighten stock bolt and magazine no longer fits, or becomes jammed, problem still exists. WM

Vector Veyron 4-16X44

That was what I liked about the 4x16 was the illuminated dot, for squirrel hunting early mornings.
Another thumbs up for just the illuminated dot. I tried a number of illuminated tree reticles and even at the lowest power setting they would wash out my sight picture when shooting in super low light conditions.

Love the Veyron scope on my RTI prophets.

Air Venturi  Avenge X tuning question

I’m a long time pcp enthusiast but haven’t done much serious tuning. I have a .22 Avenger that is a dedicated bench gun and is good out to about 112 yards (in the right conditions), and just got an Avenge X in .22 as a groundhog/plinking gun. The Avenger is tuned at 1,800 regulator with approximately a 6 fps spread but I can’t get the X anywhere near that. The manual suggests a regulator setting of 2,000-2,400 for the X with a 1-2 HS. That gives me well over 900fps with 18.13’s. My understanding is that’s too fast for good stability. When I go down to 1800 on the regulator, I can’t get a good ES. Any suggestions from those with more experience than me? I want optimal accuracy with my 18.13’s. Thanks.

Are Any Members Using Hunting Apps?

@Echo For scouting purposes does the app help you establish patterns of movement or does it simply act as a digital notebook where you can review what you've seen and made a note of? In what ways does it help you with scouting?
It can help in many ways. I haven't used all the features but it has several tools you can use.
Some of the stuff I use are layers which I can pick what I want to see. for example I like to use the boundaries of the units, trails, boundaries for wilderness and refugee areas. I also like to use the topo to figure out ways to walk the terrain and to locate good glassing points.
It also has tools that you can use such as measuring tools that will measure distances and areas. You can also build your own paths and measure them to figure out how far you want to go.

FX  DRS Plus ????

I don't mind the hammer moving. I can just give my gun a little 'shake' and I know if I have already cocked the gun. I can be an idiot. Every little bit helps. :)
Im talking about the bolt that moves --> change of hammer spring tension. The bolt that sets the hammer spring has no option to make it tight :(

Range Finder 5 to 75 yards

Does anyone make a cheap and simple range finger that only measures 5 to 75 yards? I just want something simple because I will never shoot out to 100 yards with my air rifles. Most range finders that I find on the market today are clearly for powder burners and designed to stretch out to 600+ yards. I simply do not need that.
Just make sure it can make angle calculations! Most important feature by far imo.

Fx Superior or Superior Heavy for .177 heavy pellets

Both Knockouts 13.43 and Zan 13 are shooting best at around 970 fps. Zan 13 also shoots great at 920-930 range too.
If you can push them fast enough the ZAN 16 gr. is the most accurate at 970 fps in the Superior Heavy liner....
