Cabela's portable shooting table

I have the same table from Caldwell, and altough it's a nice light table the biggest drawback is that will sag over time, since there are no lengthwise reinforcements under the table top. So don't expect super benchrest results with it.
Thank you! Got a few replies you at least have actually experience with the table that I asked about.

Tuning  .177 vs .22 shotcount

it requires more speed to get it upto the same muzzle energy as a 22 pellet.

The .177 will be in the barrel for less time, so it requires more pressure behind the pellet.

If you have a .177 barrel about 30 % longer than a .22 barrel, you will get the same number of shots.

Think of it this way - you can either gently push a pellet over a longer distance using less force, or you can smack it really hard over a shorter distance using a larger force.

Another important factor is the .177 pellets are smaller than the .22 pellets.

The force which accelerates the pellet, is the pressure times the area behind the pellet.

The .177 pellets have an area about 30% less than the .22 pellets.

CPHP Question

I jus
Yours is the coveted double bonus, intended for deeper penetration. Likely it was designed for pesting those annoying pachyderms in the peanut fields?
I so happen to be shooting and trolling so i snapped this of the last tins gphp.22 culls

gphpculls.22.png

Luckly it just been one cull per tin except for the one that had that pointed , but i could shoot it so ..lol

Suggest a Night Vision Scope

I highly recommend the DNT Zulus NV scope! It's light weight and has the best clarity available on the market in a budget friendly NV Optic. I also recommend Tactical Panda as a vender. They have the best prices on the web!

The Zulus 520HD (5-20X) and 312HD (3-12X) are on sale for $339.99 and with code PANDA10 you get an additional 10% off. Hard to beat that price for the quality you get from DNT! I prefer the 520HD to the 312HD just because on the higher magnification when shooting small critters!
Thanks for the recommendation. I just put in an order and look forward to trying the 520HD out. It will be my first digital optic.

NOE 300-68-FN-BI3

Either Accurate 31-072a or 31-079a. I have 079a. 30-070a will not work.
Good catch on the 31-072a since there is no 31-070a. The 31-079a may be too long at .45 but modifying the mag may give me enough space. What diameter are your 31-079a dropping at? Are you able to size them down to .307?

Benjamin  Sterling HR 83 .22 and .177 - Anyone else shooting HR 83

I read and then re-read about the serial numbers it is confusing, for me [at least]. I have not seen too many Sterlings but I am not an experienced airgun collector. In short, my opinion is based on limited [5 years] of collecting so all the comments are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Snowpeak  Boy, am I relieved

I ordered some more AEA pellets this morning. My Bullshark likes the 18.3s but I've shot almost all the 250 tin I bought to try them. So I ordered two more big tins. Plus I ordered a little tin of 21.9s for the P35-22 to try.

When I say the Bullshark likes the 18.3 I mean it REALLY likes them. I think it was the fourth or fifth target I shot with it was a 200. Then I shot a 194 and 195, normally good for me but not with these pellets in this gun. So I cleaned the barrel and shot a 199 Masters target. Best I have done on the Masters target. The Bullshark shot a 198 with JSB 18.1s and a 194 with Crosman domed so it is not picky but the AEAs shoot noticably better. It would be lovely if the P35-22 likes either the 18.3s or the 21.9s this well. But even if it does not, it shoots H&N 21 grain well again now and they are pretty reasonably priced. One of my 198s with them was with the plain sub $10 a tin 21 grain Baracudas. The Match are a little better I think but the plain ones shoot well enough for most purposes.

Got me one of my feed thieves

but wasn't all the model 54 recoilless? I understand that that doesn't help the scope because the rails for the recoilless part are between the action and the stock..I did read that they now have a recoilless scope mount available too, but honestly I prefer open sights.. I just can't shoot most everything with recoil..I shot my 357 lever action a couple years ago and I was only using 38 and I only shot 4-5 rounds and I was hurting for a week.. 12 shots out of the gamo garden shotgun in 22 caliber and I'm sore for several days..
so was your 54 recoilless even though it was not a air king?
I just chatted with a guy who had a air king in the classifieds and it was sold..he said absolutely no recoil, just a click and the action would slide slightly to the rear..

35 years ago I had a rws Diana 48 in 22 caliber and I loved it..
also had a Beeman P1 in 177..
I keep thinking about getting another P1 in 177 and a air king in the same caliber although I prefer 22 caliber.. it's nice to have matching caliber I think..

Bipod mounting - Arca or Picatinny?

Is there an advantage to one mounting style versus the other? I can go either way and want to make the best choice.
I went arca for the width and run a pic adapter on my impact. Much easier that the pic rail on my dreamline with an arca adapter. I like some of the cheap import carbon camera tripods with a ball mount up top and the arca rail for sit and shoot or stand and shoot scenarios. It's more adjustable and easier to use than my long Pic mount bipod I use on the dreamline, but you have to carry a relatively large funny shaped tripod with you. Arca is becoming the "standard" with a lot of the longer range guys so that's why I chose it. Just to have interop with other people's gear in a pinch. Whatever that's worth to ya.
