Correct not unless you're gonna shoot something like 13.43gr, they will give you a bit of extra velocity.Notos would be perfect, providing you can get within range. I wouldn't push it past 50 on that little noggin they have.
Thank you for the response!I bought my .177 Akela new and have been shooting it a few years now - mostly target shooting.
My Akela is completely stock - stock hammer spring cut down to 2.45 inches.
Only non-stock part is DFL 1/2x20 moderator adapter and Huma moderator.
I removed the spring inside the shroud so that the barrel free floats inside.
I’ve polished all internals of this Akela and its super smooth. Trigger polished up - breaks at 5 ounces consistently with a nice two stages. I stripped the factory finish and Tru-Oiled the stock.
Its a super nice rifle to shoot after the work I put into smoothing it out and optimizing hammer spring.
Its also been very reliable. Have not had to replace a single o-ring in the 2+ years I’ve owned it.
Finally, its super consistent. As unregulated rifles only have one pressure to “manage”, it’s 1st shot is always on target - no plenum pressure drop to worry about.

The Avenger stole the Origin's thunder. Or the Origin failed to steal the Avengers. Either way, the Avenger won.The Origin was my first pcp in .25 . Picked it up for Raccoons. Mine makes a little over 50 fpe with the HS maxed but I usually have it around 45 fpe . I've never had a problem with it . The length is why I don't use it much for pesting. I'm always grabbing a bullpup. I'm kinda surprised it was never very popular , especially with hand pump guys .
Hey shoot me a dm would love to exchange numbers I live in Yucaipa right off the 10 and can shoot 115 yards at my property but would love to shoot with some guysWelcome to the world of airguns! I live in Aguanga, through Hemet and straight down SR3 to the SR79. We have a great airgun shooting range out to 150 yards. Our individual bench rests are covered. Come out and let's shoot some targets! You can PM me on this forum. Your neighbor, Orv.
Nothing a 50mm replacement shroud can't fix! I just received the 50 mm tube today I haven't fitted it with the parts on the breach end cut it to length yet but will do in the next few days. Work in progress.I tried many different baffles. They all brought the sound down the same amount. I went with what baffle was strangest and easy to print . I think its because of how small the space in the shroud is.
Thank you brother. I appreciate it.Now there's a familiar face assocaited with first place. Congratulations @okieairgunner
You are on the right track buying top quality, particularly if you have the means, and more importantly the land to shoot on. At your starting price point you have great options. I like the .22 for what I do with my pellet rifles. The FX M4 is a multi caliber capable PCP, so you’re cover if you decide to change calibers. At your starting price point, you have nice options. Don’t overlook the BRK Ghost… Looking forward to reading more about your future PCP journey…thanks guys yeah i am very aware of the fact that i will enjoy it as i love target shooting and have been into archery for a long time and can shoot out to about 150 yards on my property so it is nice to have the ability to shoot these while still at home…. With that said i am an advocate of buy nice the first time and wont have to sell and rebuy later….
As for caliber seems like a lot of the guys are shooting .22 but i could be wrong
Dont mind at all shooting over the chrony, just not 250 times in an evening to sort some of this out.Watsa" matta'?
Don chu like to do no shootin" over the chrony?
I think I took the other half....Dan, nice shooting with you on day one! hope you get the rifle sorted. i definitely need to clean my stuff. i think i took half the desert home with me.
No no need for bleach or acid on this one , French walnut . Just a good prep , alkanet oil and stock oil with a tad of drier added . Slow process...since it's a Airmaster has it already been polished out and reblued to a much higher standard than original? Have you bleached out or stained the stock (oxalic acid?) before refinishing?
Wowza - pistol Hft event was a 60 shot course! 3 targets per lane and two shots per target. Again, shooting under the old growth cedar was really neat. Thanks to all for your hard work.Hello Fellow Shooters,
