question on rifle bore

Here's an easy way to get real close with that gun, if you have a set of dial calipers or similar measuring device. It requires three measurements and some math. First, measure the outside diameter of that scope's front bell, then measure the diameter of that barrel housing right by the break, and measure the air gap distance between the bell and the spring/piston housing. For the math, add the scope and barrel diameter measurements together and then divide that number in half, then add the air gap number to it. This will get you very close to the centerline.

My SWAG math gives me 1.44" scope height, 51mm scope diameter, 16mm barrel and 3.1mm gap. 25.5mm objective/half + 8mm barrel/half + 3.1mm gap = 36.6mm = 1.44" scope height. Tks.

Crosman  2240 I bought today

I'm wondering if my trigger has been worked on already because it seems really "light", and as Dr Kralenstein pointed out the sight has been changed. So obviously some previous owner has done some mods. I'd like to know about the gray barrel band, who made it, and what, besides the color is the difference between it abd a factory band?
You can pull the grip off and take a picture of the spring. We can tell by looking at it if it's been swapped out.

Cheap first pump. come on everybody’s done it

Yeah the long line is for if I have to fill at the range with compressor hooked to truck battery. I think the shut off valve will work . I’ll find the parts on amzon now.
Just make sure your components are rated for at least 4,500 psi or your max fill pressures you will see.

N/A  Speaking of Legendary Historical WWII Sub-Machine guns Co2 .177 Replicas

Just keep in mind we are talking CO2 BB guns not political agendas that are gone or soon to be gone (Tyrant Hitler and the MP40, I have one). Just like the British Sten gun or the later Sterling Gun from a Monocracy Royalty King and Quean leadership.

By the way I would like to see a .177cal CO2 BB gun of the German assault rifle, Sturmgewehr StG44 as well. I really want to expand my collection of WWII Legends weapons (sub machine guns) .
Collecting dummies (wall hangers) are no fun and the real ones are astronomically out of reach.
But now we are off topic.

First Look At The DNT ThermNight TNC335R & TNC635R

there very nice if you do a lot of Nite time pesting good video, i do some Nite time pesting not a lot but some
i had the Zulus 3x12 , 5x20 and 225 all 3 were nice but had their own range.
then tried the Oneleaf NV 500 Eagle with 2 lenses that filled the bill as it's nice to be able to swap lenses for long or short distance.
not as clear as say the 635 but as good as the Zulus which is good enough, if i was Nite pesting all the time i would more than likely get a 335 or 635

FX  .30 Panthera H/C build advice

I can get 2 1/2 mags comfortably. When I go coyotes hunting or am in my truck it is not a high volume shot situation. Shot count past the point I am at is not a consideration.
Sounds like the 480cc bottle will be a perfect set-up for me as well than. If u don't mind me asking what company did u get you're 480 from? FX or a generic Amazon or eBay company? (I have Tusing or whatever 480cc on my LCS-SK19) and hasn't had no problems whatsoever with it for a long time, (knock on wood). In obviously would have to get an ethics adapter though if I run one of those bottles.. my only concern would be clearance height and length i.e; depth and diameter of course. But other than that I'm definitely up for saving a couple pennies if I can. Oh and have you ever tried one of the other nor mags for our particular gun? I think they have a squarish one perhaps made by John and also a single shot loader I saw on eBay.. I think it would be a nice addition especially for the single shot loader. Also what do you think about my 300 box question? Will that put too much pressure on the internals? Or am I already answering my own question.. thanks again - SF

20 meter Springer Benchrest Match

Rifle. The older fellow Nick who is an excellent shooter use a TX HC. Theroy is the pellet is out of the barrel quicker. Nick is usually in the top 3 at most of our matces, I have 2 D75s, a 300s, and my TX200. If it was one shot for all the marbles at 20 yds I would be hard pressed not to shoot my TX. When I do everything right with it.......I am a dangerous man. Lol. Everyone else shots 97s.

FX  Impact M4 leaking air

Thanks for the reply.

As it turned out, i didn't need to remove the bottle. I just had to bear down on the crescent wrench I was using and the gauge turned even under system pressure.
They put some kind of thread locker on them. Both on my Maverick were like that.

They have a x-ring under them, the front/bottle gauge can have a plastic disk which can be replaced with the x-ring.

Benjamin Bulldog .357 Has anyone else noticed the 81.02 grain JSB pellets are more accurate than the 145 grain Noslar and 147 grain flat nose slugs?

Yup. Outside of 55-60 yards the Noslers drop very noticeably. They are pretty accurate to my recollection. Too expensive to shoot. I never bough any more than came with the gun. Never used the wadcutters.
Try NSA 110 grain hollow-point flat-base or dish-base slugs. Some guys like NSA 142 grain slugs too.

To be clear in my previous posts I was speaking from my experience with the original .357 Benjamin Bulldog.

HW/Weihrauch  HW97k barrel cleaning

Now, when working on my 97K, I've got this really cool safety device that I put in the breach, I can't remember who makes that thing???, but it's beautiful and looks as nice as any of my rifles stocks, ✋👀 👍 well what would acetone do to such a device as that, if I were to drip some on there?

View attachment 521522

It would dry it out and strip the wax/oil.

I just use a damp patch so it does not pull off a drop when the patch compresses. It just brushes by the wood. But after some solvent hits that wood its bound to strip it. No worries. It's just a chunk of wood. Oil it up and shoe polish it of it gets dry.

Acacia grows fast but it's super dense. It's hard. They used to use it for nails in drilled holes. It won't absorb acetone or much oil. So it's just the surface finish that's wiped off.

I'm not sure about acetone, but if you get acacia shavings in a shot glass of tequila, it turns it cranberry red.

Air Venturi  Avenge-X Tuning Method

I would also, however it is almost impossible to get in the USA.
I would move the hammer adjuster a 1/8 at a time(up or down)and I bet you can get the ES/SD to tighten up.
I just received 8 tins of the 25 grain pellets from Pyramyd Air, so I am going to start over with those. I want as many shots per fillup as possible as I am only shooting paper. I'll do more tweaking with those. I am currently only shooting at 35 yards in my back yard. Once I do the tune, I will go to my gun club and do 50 and 75 (maybe 100?)

Panthera Hunter Compact .30 new load out/ performance and questions

Hi Guys, I recently purchased an FX Panthera HC in .30. Got the 10 for 10 from Pyramyd & upon reading it they ended up using 44 grain jsbs & got about an average of 67 FPE of energy. (They had the reg set @ 100 bar)..Since then I decided to turn up the regulator to around 140 then 150 & am now getting around 85-90 FPE with 50 gr's sligs hitting @ around 880-900fps... The gun seems to like slugs better than it does pellets even though it does have a small barrel I've added an impulse 1350 moderator with an extra cone insert as well as the non tapered extension piece so it lines up directly with the barrel flush from A of A. Getting about a clip to a clip and a half with the regulator @ 150.. have a couple questions about using a bigger bottle on the front. I don't want to make the gun too heavy but I would like some more air on hand while using the foldable stock option that I use. Any suggestions would help me as to a 480cc, 580cc or even 700cc bottle? Also I know that it says that 250bar is max on these guns.. but I've heard of people going up to 300bar with the new FX bottles.. (just don't know how safe that is!) also would like to know if I NEED the tungsten hammer and heavier spring kit to get the velocities/power that were advertised for this particular gun which the energy report from FX is 107 FPE. So I'm looking for another 20 or so FPE... Also I've never have installed such item/s and then wondering how hot it would be to install. I'll post a couple pictures and having a hard time downloading my chronograph measurements to my phone for some reason but I can come up with the shot string as well hopefully. Basically what I'm looking for is obviously high as shot count and highest power for this will be used for dispatching coyotes. I currently have just a Trijcon Mro Red Dot the top of it but will be soon running a ffp Vortex 3-15X50 on it with high rings. Then we'll be using a 90° angle Weaver picatinny for the Red Dot just in case something is closer. All/most hunting that will be done will be (150 yards max)...Any questions comments and concerns I greatly appreciated. Goal is to get This rifle gets rather long really quick once adding a moderator in folding out the stock all the way goes from 26 inches I believe folded without moderator to 42 or so inches completely folded out all the way out and with moderator on. But I will tell you this this particular moderator is stupid quiet! I also like it because it's made in the USA unlike some other companies. Thanks, Surefire!

Have you ever shot someone's target by mistake?

I owe a great and lucrative career, to shooting the wrong target. I retired 2023 from the dental business. Allow me to relate one of my favorite stories. 1976 working a crap job with no health insurance and we had a condom failure about one year in to our marriage. I joined the USAF, Open general. Being 6'1" and in great shape that is almost a guarantee to getting the worst job in the Air Force, Security police.
We had one day training and qualification with the M16. The shooter to my right got a marksman's medal, while I failed to qualify. Yup got confused and shot my neighbors target way more than once! Tight and unnumbered shooting lanes and 100 yard targets. When I got my job assignment? A transfer to Sheppard AFB and dental assistant training. Guy can't shoot, stick him in the dental clinic. Failing to qualify with the M16 was one of the best things ever. I'm not wealthy, but dental was very good to me. I'm big in to powder burners too, walnut and steel no AR's in my world. I do regret selling my unfired Colt AR, just because I can't have one here now. Never shot the one I had for 5 years. Not a fan of MSR's.

Uragan 2 mag compressing lead

Was the mag loaded prior to traveling? Or does it happen in the gun?

The thin leading edge seems like what exaggerates it. You probably don’t have that issue with projectiles with a thicker edge or a solid nose.

Dave
It's only been noticed when picking up the magazine from the passenger seat. Maybe the slugs are bouncing inside the magazine.Ever so slightly as i'm driving the cause them to be pressed? Cause again there's little to no recoil when I shoot the gun and this doesn't happen on a regular occasion.

I thought that at first, but given that I've unloaded these magazines before.I've never seen it being caused by that. But shaking it definitely replicated the issue

N/A  Carbines have less power than full rifles?? 🤔

It's not the size of the magicians wand that matters. It is the magic he performs with it.

A carbine length springer will shoot just as fast and be just as accurate as a full length springer if all other factors are equal. The pellet is at maximum velocity after less than a foot of travel.

A firearm is different. A longer barrel CAN produce more velocity/accuracy because powder speeds and volumes can be adjusted to utilize the extra barrel. I'm assuming this is also true with a PCP to some extent. But a springer gives you a set, limited amount of air to propel the projectile regardless of barrel length.

The quality of the barrel will make MUCH more difference than the length in accuracy. And speed is dictated by your power source and the ability to keep increasing pressure behind the pellet as it accelerates down the barrel. Swept volume and the speed of expanding compressed air are limitations that are met with a barrel a foot long on a spring gun.

Balance, recoil and sighting plane length are all valid comparisons. Speed and accuracy not so much.
