Coming full circle with my choices

Well sir, you are describing the symbol for infinity.

Now at over a thousand and counting, feels like I'm well on my way to that number. But could you please QUANTIFY it better for me, so I could have a clearer picture of my goal?

As I understand it, the Milky Way is but one of more galaxies than there are little dots in this picture of it; and many of the little dots in pictures of the universe are actually galaxies bigger than our own (Milky Way).

So by my cipherin'... ... I reckon infinity must be more than a hunert!🤓

Bushnell 6-18X40 - High Contrast - Made in Philippines

I have 2 of the Bushnell 6-18X40 high contrast scopes - made in Philippines. These were quite popular several years ago when I was heavily involved in air-gunning. I was very active on yellow forums in those days but learned a short while ago that that forum is no longer active. I am looking to get back into the hobby but also looking to sell off many accessories that I do not need. Will appreciate any inputs.

FX  FX Impact X problem, need some assistance. Thanks

Can you actually do this? I would figure that the water intrusion can harm the gun.
I've done it. Dissassembled, dried, and reassembled when done. Water shouldn't intrude anything, other than end up on all the mechanical parts. As long as there is pressure in the tank, it won't intrude that either.

I wouldn't dunk it and leave it without cleaning everything up. Water won't harm most parts like those that are made of aluminum or stainless, but could cause rust on any basic steel parts. Hence why I say clean everything up afterwards. This is simply what I do when I am at whits end trying to find a leak.

PCP Airgun & Compressor ( modifications & repair)

Hey Guys,

I wanted to drop this information along with a few photos to show a few projects I’ve recently worked on.

Im based in the Nashville/Bowling Green area and I enjoy fixing/modifying pcp airguns and repairing and rebuilding pcp compressors.
I can service & or repair just about any quality compressor or airguns.
I also really enjoy building power house setups.

I have the tools to work on such things and also can Zero and mount scopes.
In the photos below you will find a couple examples of the customizations described above. I installed a time meter on my gxcs4 from day one to take the upmost care for it. And being the ergonomics of the Zeus were a disaster to begin with I turned my Zeus into a rifle worthy of the title. Not just a project half thought out…

I love working on guns and compressors just lmk what ya got and let’s get some projects rolling guys….

Im also in talks to have custom laser engraving be an available service as well….

Look forward to hearing from ya! Happy Shootin Guys!

Brocock/BRK  BRK Ghost & Barrel/Caliber Changes

I may have just solved my issue? I removed the big ole bulky OEM moderator from the Taipan. Yep, it's louder, but so much nicer to handle at the shorter length. I have been hunting with rimfires for more than 60 years so I'm not really concerned about noise and I live in a rural area with unlimited range to shoot. So, I'm going to try to find a threaded end cap for the Taipan (weird threads my RYU wouldn't fit the Taipan) and shoot hunt with it unmoderated. After this squirrel season ends in February I'll have hunted with both the .22 BRK and the .25 TV. I'll know what I want to do for next year then.

I do see only 23" barrels for the BRK .25 and I'm not loving that.

Anyone know where to get a barrel thread protector for the Taipan Vet 2 HP?

Yaw Induced BC changes.

Nicely presented analysis.

Can actual yaw be measured using high speed cameras? (Or have I watched too many episodes of Mythbusters?). I imagine a Labradar combined with high speed video could get both yaw and ballistic data out to at least 50y.

I suspect it would take exceptionally detailed and crisp photos to detect yaw in the required fractions of a degree.
There is a system called flight follower which can take film of bullets in flight showing yaw behaviour which should be able to do it for pellets, if you have the odd £25000 to hire it.

Results  Ultimate Field Target @ PRGC 10/26/24 Match Report

We had 11 shooters come give it a try this month, 2 in slug, and 9 in pellet class.

Wind was minimal, temps were NOT. Even at the peak of the wind I'd estimate 3-5mph. And we had every bit of that forecasted 95-96 degrees.

Ben changed up the course a bit for this season opener. There were 9 targets beyond 75 yards. and 6 targets with an Extreme Troyer factor of greater than 40. Columns for how we fared on the 6 highest Troyer targets are on the scorecard that I'll share in a minute. Those columns also have the kill zone size and distance of those 6 theoretically hardest targets. The match director also chose to go with fairly small kill zones on the "offhand" lane, with the caveat that we could use the supplied tripod for standing tripod shots. So we had a 0.75" kill zone at 24 yards and a 1.25" kill zone at 46 yards for the standing tripod lanes. Those are T's of 33.3 and 36.8, WITHOUT the offhand difficulty factor being added in. Only two of us went 4/4 on the standing tripod shots. All and all the "far" targets averaged out to a Troyer of 37.4 and the "near" targets had an average T of 30, for an overall course Troyer factor of 33.7. Had there been any substantial wind, this would have been a pretty tough course. Of course we all shoot the same course so an increased difficulty affects all shooters attending.

Steve M was very close to a perfect match, scoring an impressive 46/48. Congrats on the win @steve123
As usual, a couple experienced equipment troubles, with commensurate scores.

Three of us were using electronic scopes this month, two with ZULUS and myself with a PARD. I have scope cam footage for all 48 of my shots and will work on getting that stitched together and shared in the near future. When the electronic scopes first hit the scene there was much debate about if they offered an unfair advantage or not for these UFT matches. After shooting the match today using an 11.5x max magnification, I'm firmly in the NOT advantageous versus good, solid clear glass. Because I hit record when first addressing the lane I had a built in timer in my scope view, which was a kinda neat feature, since we're supposed to get all 4 shots off in 4 minutes. My longest lane was 2:50, and only because I was waiting for a little uptick in wind to slow down for my last shots (100 yard target lane). The built in level was also useful, and especially for being in the scope view. Even with those pros, for a game where seeing where the pellet/slug is connecting, clear glass wins.

Much thanks to Ben for again doing this mostly single-handed. He told me he put in 6hrs on Thurs, 12 hrs on Fri, and 9hrs today, getting the course all squared away and targets painted and ropes ran, etc. Lots and lots of work for us to have an enjoyable Saturday. Thank you Ben. And thank you Phoenix Rod and Gun Club for sharing your facilities with us. And thanks to Wayne M. He came out to help Ben with some off the registration and final scoring, and didn't even shoot.

And finally, thank you to all the shooters that came out to enjoy the match. It had been too long since I'd seen some of you guys and it was good to get to rub elbows and talk airguns, however brief it was, and just generally share in an activity that is so enjoyable.

Here's lane 10, one take for 4 shots, no editing, "first person shooter" (and yes, I waited out the wind for the far shots, still getting all fours shots off within the allotted 4 minutes.) Also, the PARD called this one as 102 yards, not 100, but the target fell so puhtayto, puhtahto. Notice I'm holding just slightly upwind for the two far shots. Left to right wind here. I was holding further to the left in case the wind didn't let up prior to breaking the trigger. It finally calmed and I slid over to just about the left edge of the KZ and took my shots before the wind came up again. All part of the game. The most frustrating is when you hold over there and the slug/pellet hits the edge of the kill zone right at 9 oclock where you were holding.
Great write-up! Good shooting. Those targets look awesome!

Tuning  New to tuning

Thanks @Trucker3573! I had a few groups of the Hades landing (between .5” to .75”) when shooting them around 915 -925. Anything beyond that was very inconsistent. However, I was surprised at how much tighter the groups got after slowing them down to 880’s (measured a few groups yesterday that were between .4“ to .5”). It’s not as consistent as I like, which I realize is more of a “me” problem than it is with the pellets / gun.

I was having an issue with the internal screw (took me a while to realize CCW on that adjustment screw actually increased my tension). I didn’t like the lack of vision on the screw to see how far in / out it was and got my hands on a Quick Tune system (installed over the weekend). For me, having that visual made it much simpler for me to get it to where it was.

I still need a few more sessions to see if yesterday was just a fluke or something that can be repeated.

Determining MOA of Impact rail

Wanted to ask the group about this but I picked up a new M3 from Bullet Central some months ago and I wanted to get some more adjustment out of my PST Gen2 and noticed I had about 8 mils to play with so I was thinking of buying a 20 MOA one piece mount. After spending weeks looking for used mounts on the powderburner forums I starting wondering about the top rail on this air rifle because it’s supposed to be 20 MOA. I set the M3 up this morning and ran a level down the barrel and then along the rail and both were parallel, which surprised me as I expected the top rail to have a downward cant.

My understanding is all the M3’s came with the 20 MOA rails so am I measuring this wrong, because I’ve got about 14 mils of elevation and 8 mils to play with on a 58 yard zero.

De-fanged Sidewinder gets a taste of rabbit…

Turning the valve adjustment in like a Impact dropped it down?
I liked the idea of that Sidewinder but I would like it more knowing what your saying can be easily done on the fly.
Keep in mind that I’m still a pcp newb... but yep, I find the Sidewinder to be really easy to adjust on the fly. I keep the regulator set at 150 and don’t adjust that, so the only adjustment needed is the power knob. Hammerless guns are easier in that way, afaik.

I learned the hard way that it helps to have good data first. I just recently started making a database of the pellets I’m using: noting what speed is most accurate at the distances I shoot, and the number of clicks on the wheel needed to get the pellet to that speed.

For example, when I want to use a lightweight pellet (22-26gr) at ~700fps for close-range work, I know it’s ~10 clicks on the power wheel. Then when I want to switch to my 80fpe 34gr Heavies tune, I know it’s xx clicks on the wheel, etc. I always keep one mag loaded with lightweight pellets, and one loaded with 34gr JSBs, just in case! 😁

Indoor Challenges? Getting ready for winter

I was thinking this might be fun.

3 points head
2 points body
1 point wings and/or feet
0 miss

Score best edge, plug using unfired round (if needed).

I can attest ! This is a lot of fun at any distance , and you can use 60 lb card stock paper on most any printer (60 LB card stock is the thinest card stock , 60 LBS per 1k sheets )

Umarex  Notos tuned for more shots.

I set the regular to about 1K and got 50 shots at 530 fps. Crosman Ultra Magnum pellets. Charles

With the sights I don't see any accuracy problem. I only shoot paper targets for sighting in. Most of my targets vary from a nickel to 1 1/2 inch. I'm very happy with it. Charles
