DNT TNC225R - Anything better for the price?

For the money, you can't beat it. I'm in so far now that I got the PARD Landsat Compact 640! It is really the at the top of the mul;ti-spectral food chain now! The only gripes I have so far are that the NV is about 6x on the first zoom making it tough to find the target, but the thermal starts at 2 so it's real easy to use it and then push the button to switch or have the PIP working! So far it's the ThermNight on steroids!

I have it mounted on a Western Sidewinder S in .25 and just got a rat or large mouse in the back yard at 20 yards. Clear with both the thermal and the NV! I had the gun loaded with FX 26g slugs and whatever it was, the slug blew it up! I didn't record it because I forgot to put the SD card in!😵‍💫

Have any of you killed a coyote with a Daystate Redwolf .22 Hi Power?

Just got a Redwolf .22 Hi power and was thinking of doing some coyote hunting. I am definitely going to take a headshot, but I was wondering if anyone has taken a body shot with a Redwolf or something similar?
There was a guy on here that took one with a body shot from a Walmart Ruger break barrel gun with cheap pellets. If I recall, he only went about 100 yds and tipped over.

Brocock/BRK  Ghost .22 28 inch barrel kit

Well the comments from above says the new 28” Barrel is 1:30. And the new barrel we have been waiting on is the slug barrel. .177 .22 with shorter barrels may need faster twist but the heavier the projectile and longer the barrel the less is needed. That’s what I have been seeing about twist rates. All I want confirmed is if the 1:30 is their new 28” slug barrel.
Barrel length affects the ability to propel a projectile given the pressure and dwell of the pressure behind said projectile. Twist rate affects the spin rate and the ability to stabilize a projectile travels. The longer the projectile ( heavier ) the faster the twist rate is required to stabilize. Although 1:30 may work for some slugs. The 1:17 is much more suitable. Over spinning a pellet almost always results in spiralling when pushed too fast. Ted Bier from Ted’s holdover has a great video on an HW100 that has this exact problem.

Another major issue when shooting slugs is the sizing. This has been discussed in depth here often. When buying off the shelf slugs from whatever manufacturer we are limiting the performance by not matching the size of the slug to the barrel. Best performance is always found after sizing.

Teslong NTG100 view better than expected .

I use these 3M Tri-M-ITE Wet Dry Polishing Abrasive Paper 400-8,000 grit sheets wrapped twice around a cotton bore mop so they fit fairly snug. They work great for doing exactly what you want to do, and Ieveling off high spots and cutter chatter marks. I let it follow the rifling and don't rotate, except maybe a little at the lead in to knock down rough edges.

I need to get a pack of those sheets. & soon

Pumps and compressors

I have the huben hand pump. It's not cheap. It has a feature that I like, the ability to add silicone oil to it without taking it apart, a feature which i think has led to increased lifespan without a rebuild. I had a hill mark 4 and I prefer the huben pump
I just looked it up. Turn out it's a really good one too. I wouldn't mind spending the money on it. Thanks for the lead.

Kral Arms  Kral puncher Nish .22 seal problems at the breech

Hi guys,

since a short time I own this rifle in the 7.5 Joule configuration, thats around 5.5 fpe, more is not free available in germany.
The rifle ist an .22 and in the open version it should fire around 35 Joule at normal.

As I first testet it and tried to shoot the scope to zero, I realize that there was not power enougt and I could see the pellets flying, as also the scope didn´t reach to get it on the spot at 20 meters.
I also noticed air blow on my hand near the magazin, what´s not normal I think.

Today I could check it again, because my cheap Chroni from Aliexpress arrived at home and the results are a Joke - I got a middle of 4.6 Joule aka 3,4 fpe and an V0 of around 95 -100m/s, thats a Joke.

Now I will pull the barrel as soon as my order of o-rings arrive, I´m pretty sure the inner barrel o-ring is damaged.

I ordered a bunch of o-rings for the gun.

For the inner barrel I orderet -009 o-ring in 70 and 90 shore as also some others nearly in that measerment rang, I will see what will go with the gun.

I will also check the size of the installed brass power adjuster und maybe make the port a lil bit bigger, the normal one with 4mm port was allready in the package with the gun.

Target practicing in woods; in Trouble NEED HELP!

It sounds like the OP has gotten his answer... shooting on state land in Massachusetts is prohibited. Any legal advise should be obtained from his lawyers. The OP may start a new thread after the issue has been resolved to share any advice he has for other airgunners.

AEA  HP ss plus

When tearing your gun down make sure it is uncocked. It can be a knuckle buster if the sear lets loose during tear down. My + gets dirty about every 500 rounds and requires a cleaning. You can get by short term by spraying Tri Flow into the receiver, but to Firewalkers point if you have lead down into the mechanism tear down has to be done.

Snowpeak  FPS Problem

I have had to increase the hammer spring a little from a minus 5% velocity setting to get the first shot velocity consistent with subsequent shots in my P35s. Sometimes I do not go as low as -5% if the accuracy a bit higher looks better. My Caiman had a low first shot too for awhile but I was more than 5% below the peak. I normally shoot 3 to 5 shot groups as I go down to get a better idea of the velocity and to check accuracy.

Night Stalking

First off, I didn't bag anything. If you're looking for a victory story, this isn't it. If you're anything like me and you enjoy the outdoors, stick around and imagine being out in these rural Deep East Texas piney woods on this cool autumn night...

I walked my pups just after dusk and we encountered what I thought was a young coyote. He was in a clearing around a structure with decent outside light via high lumen halide light bulbs. All I could really see was a silhouette: furry, somewhat long legs, bushy tail, pointy ears. I am not sure if it smelled us, heard the pups, or spotted us on the side of the road, but it started moving away from us at a distance of around 75-90 yards. At first I thought it was a fox or a feral dog until my brain registered all of the features that I had just seen. So I decided to test the animal as it was leaving the scene. I gave a few lip squeaks. The animal stopped and turned its head directly towards me. I stood and watched and it turned to take off again. I lip squeaked again as it moved into the shadow of a hickory tree and an oak tree and got a similar reaction. BINGO!! It's a young looking coyote. I stood watching as long as I could, but these aging eyes couldn't keep up with the stealth canine. I didn't have a thermal device or any hunting arms. Thankfully the pups didn't spot it or start barking. When I didn't see any more movement, I began to back up and signaled the pups to turn around and follow me. We walked in another direction before returning to finish walking our route. After our walk we returned home. I grabbed my scanner and Huben K1 and checked around the property. I spotted Herby the possum feasting on the last armadillo that I killed; he has a buffet area I set up for him.

Unfortunately the pups pushed him off the carcass and went to investigate the smells. The white spot in the trees on the upper left (above the pup's nose) is Herby waiting to finish his meal.

I was recently informed that Herby was trapped and relocated for gorging himself on seed set out in feeders for the songbirds. I get it because I've seen him hit a feeder before. Sucks to see him go. Hopefully another Herby moves in closer to take his spot.
