RTI  RTI Mora .25 caliber sniper - a mini-review

Hi Mike:

As it stands right now, either gun is more than capable of winning it all. I will continue shooting both weekly at my local range and as well at the monthly regional events we have here in Ohio. Hopefully I will be able to make a decision on which to shoot for the big money from those results.

Sadly, I won't be making it to RMAC this year. I made three different calls to UA to insure that the three of us from tABC would get early registration since this year, we're not shooting for Skout. Unfortunately, no one from UA returned my calls and as a result I've had to opt out. Jerry, being somewhat more enthusiastic than I, did manage to contact Justin. Justin told Jerry that he would be placed at the top of the waiting list. That's a nice gesture, but not one I'm willing to risk thousands of dollars in expenses on, so I'll be giving it a pass this year. However, I'll be at PAC, EBR, and TBAC (if that one actually happens, it's still a bit up in the air) as we have industry standing and early reservation with all three. I'm sure if anyone from UA had returned my call, they'd have extended that to us as well. In the past we've always been sponsored so we've never needed it. So, although I'll miss my chance at RMAC this year, I fully intend to make my presence felt everywhere else and hope to see you there... LoL

Cheers
Thanks Joe. I’d like to shoot PAC, but AAFTA doesn’t really give me a woody, and the Speed could end up being 20 seconds of shooting. Not interested in traveling that far (from San Diego) just to shoot 100Y BR. The NAC would be more my style, but it is no more. See you at EBR!

Hunting safety in populated areas

I don't think there are a lot of issues but I don't want to be part of one. I also don't know how many issues it will take before there are more rules limiting what we can do with our airguns. If you only shoot at things on the ground I think you are pretty safe regardless of the projectile and power level. But if you shoot at things up in trees, I am sure you need to pay attention to what is behind your target and I think you should use the lowest power and worst bc that will work. The big issue is when you miss. Slugs will carry significantly further potentially something you did not intend to harm.

Battery operated ? what is the noise level ?
Yes like airsoft guns, uses a 11.1 v battery. You can put in larger batteries to increase shot count from the factory batteries. I have not seen how many shots per charge on the Barra. The Umarex AER16 says 650 per charge. Hard to tell from videos but Pyramid says sound level 3. Mark

Gx filter is here

I got mine today. On my kitchen scale it weighs 2 lbs 10 ounces with magnets but without the outlet hose. Seems well made. The holder for the dessicant is aluminum and 28mm OD and the inside of the body of the filter is about 31mm. So there is a mm of clearance. My guess is that is deliberate to enhance separation by condensation. The body has to be thick. It has the attachment screw holes for the magnets drilled into it and it has two flats milled on it. That mass will make it slow to change temperature enhancing condensation by cooling the air. The only instructions are a semi helpful video you reach by pointing the bar code reader of your phone at symbols on a card that comes with the filter. But putting the magnets on and attaching the outlet hose is the only assembly required. There is a cartridge in it and a spare in the box.

I like the idea of using condensation as the primary moisture separation. I like the nice packaging and sturdy construction. I'm not sure I love having three bleed screws to manage. They want you to open the lower one on the filter first which will blow out condensed moisture. Then the pumps bleed and the top bleed of the filter. Not a big deal but a change to remember. Perhaps the biggest drawback is the much longer "dead head" time. I measured it at 2 minutes 15 seconds. My CS2 was under 30 seconds without this filter. So the pump has to run roughly 2 minutes more to use this. I may move this to my Yong Heng. So far the "extra filter" of the CS2 seems to be able to handle it's output. Close to doubling a gun fill if I truly don't need the extra filtration may not make sense to me. But maybe I need it.

In any event it seems well made and worked fine right out of the box. No visible water separated on a dead head but I need to try it on a few gun fills. I still have the extra filter on so I should be able to get an idea how much got past it from how much blows out of the new one.

Every second of that 2 min is worth it if dry air is going into the gun. I mean I guess we all hope these devices do that. I know in gx’s write up on Amazon it says breathing quality air which is preposterous but it has to make it better I presume.

ammo tec exit scam

AEA is not a scam they are good people, i bought my M 50 directly from them and they gave me a good deal and threw in a free folding stock. Im referring to a third party vender who created a modification for the m 50, took. Lot of orders when supply was out, but never came back with it and went out of business apparently.
I ordered their Harpoon on the 9th of March, & they won't respond to emails, & their number is out of service. Go on their website & check it out for yourself.

How quickly we forget...

irritated by repeat questions
Well it is not something that instantly throw you into a good mood, but i also have to play it real and say that i am personally absolutely not good at using the search function on forums.
To offset that i have a quite strong " figure it out yourself" genome, though it is more challenged now since i do no longer use google search that the way i see it is still superior to the search engine i use these days as aside for youtube i can not use google products, and i need professional help to get off youtube.

Anyway on another forum i frequent i have answered the same question many - MANY times in the past 10 - 15 years, but i only blame myself that i do not bookmark some of these replies or search them out with the search function.

And so, i write a wall of information again and again about the same, only spiced up some with newer information and technologies that are available now.

Aside for sitting on my ass and shoot, helping other people is just about the only joy i have in life. So i gladly do it.

Barrel Length in the Airgun Industry

About the AR15 yes that is true as long as it was permanently attached it counted as barrel length. On a Guantlet the rifled barrel is covered by a shroud these are 2 separate things you can't say the Guantlet has a 281/4" barrel. It is 231/2" the shroud is 28.
I agree that what the gauntlet has isn’t a 28.25” barrel. It’s just a shroud over a shorter barrel. I was just trying to clarify that the barrel should be one continuous piece of metal, or perhaps one continuous laminate, but isn’t necessarily measured by the rifled portion or the portion that contacts the projectile.

fun target

I agree. Old circular saw blades make terrific gongs for air rifles. The larger diameter the better. 12” and 14” blades seem to have a ring that just hangs in the air for several seconds.

While going thru wally world the other day I picked up a set of (3) 6 1/2" saw blades for $10.44 for pellet gun shooting I find they are great.

Electronic bubble levels

Hey guys I agree with all of you.
But ones I got to 65 and the condition in my eyes - I need reading glasses at least 2 diopter to see what I have in my hands. It was coming slow, I asked for eye surgery years ago they told me it will come back. So I learned to walk around the roadblock.

I can see the target @ 2-300, but I cannot see what is attached to my scope bell... anything shorter distance is just all blur.
Anything darker room or darker sky - I need these reading glasses to handle my fingers.

When setting up my gear at the bench, when all done I am very happy to put the reading glasses aside. And this way are my scopes focus tuned as well.
And I hate to wear glasses and trying not to use as much possible ... trying to save my far vision.

Shooting strings at long range, without removing from eye box, I am looking into these electronic LED lights as a go-nogo only, from a mechanics perspective me to believe nothing beats the bubble vial.

Centercut

What was a reason you got rid of these gizmos? I also like to read negative reviews first :)

Some hand crafted Easter Targets.

With the crazy egg prices right now my daughter and I decided to do something a little different for Easter eggs this year. I got out some scrap steel and the plasma cutter and welder and she is the artist with the paint. I painted some too but the good ones are hers 😁. We’re going to shoot them tomorrow and then we’ll paint them again next year. Here are a few photos to show the progression of our project. I started with a cardboard egg as a template and most of the steel is .125”.

Wow those are great, very artistic. Happy Easter.

Diana  My 22cal Chaser. You need one!!!!

The upgrades I did cost about 200 dollars so for a 320 dollar gun I get about 200 shots at over 800fps 360cc bottle 108.00 , regulator 28.00, froggies drop block 70.00. That makes it a very nice easy to shoot PCP
How is this superior to, say, the Notos, which shoots about 800 fps in .22, is accurate, and comes stock at about $250 with coupons? Genuinely curious. I think it has more shots per fill given the bottle. Thanks for any insight.

Umarex  Bolt and boltprope siezed up

Thanks for that probably the same issue.hoping umarex covers this under warranty
Fingers crossed for you. Grrr, I shot my new Chronograph last night, destroying it. I contacted the vendor and they gave me a 1/3 credit on it...as usual no parts available. I will jerry rig the LED light bars off the new one I shot to my old Shooting Chrony. Heck the old Chrony will take hits....other than the display.
