FX  FX Impact M3 25cal tune with ZAN 35 slugs

I am developing a tune for some newly aquired Zan 35s slugs.

My Impact has 700mm slug barrel with a inner CF sleave, and the outer CF Tensioning brace.
Once I get this tune completed I will update the thread.

Yesterday, was playing with the Power Wheel at 16, I was getting into the 980s and an occasional 1000FPS, The groups where decent but flyers…

On the micro I brought that in a bit and was getting 975 with 2FPS spread.. Took the Chrono off the barrel to check the groups. But my pellet range faces due west, and I was shooting right into the sun. With serious halos/vision issues in the scope. But I was able to shoot several dime size groups at 50… yeah baby… Due to the sun. Packed it up, and head to the house.

As I get home there is a big fat pigeon… at 45 yds away…
Wonder what a Zan 35 @ 975 does ????
Well I voted we find out…

Wow. When I shoot other slugs/pellets, you hear a loud thump on impact. Yeah with the ZAN you get a very very loud whack/nail gun type of sound… And it just about ripped that pigeon in half… LOL…

I think I found the new pellet for critters… Cant wait to see what it does to Coyote heads.

Again, I will update this later… But initial results, are exceeding my expectations.

opinions on scope

Here is a previous thread.

I still haven't mounted mine. I have done some adjusting to the diopter but without it being mounted I haven't made any serious attempts at getting it dialed in. Still, I suspect getting both an in-focus reticle & a flat image at 1x will be difficult. To be fair, I have some vision issues that always make this difficult.

I like the size of the reticle at 1x but find the horseshoe a bit small at the ~3x where this scope will stay most of the time on a pest rifle.

I really like the FOV. Much larger than the Discovery 2-12x24 which is also discussed in the above thread.

Inconsistent groupings on Fx M4

agree with the above.

i think it could be.....any or all.
1. pellets going too fast.
2. too much hammer for current regulator setting causing widely fluctuating pellet speeds.
3. your pellets.
too many times ive seen someone buy an fx and run the cheapest pellets they can find through it (crossman) and then blame the gun for not shooting at its best,
run some flavor of JSB,JTS,or H&N pellets if you want accuracy and consistency.
4. check the barrel liner and moderator for any obstructions or imperfections.
5. clean the barrel liner. alot of people forget this step cause they cant wait to get shooting,
maybe just some crud causing poor groups.

also,
seeing this was your first post,
how much experience do you have with pcp's?

too many unanswered questions lol
So, pardon my ignorance but howinell does a new guy “get” all this dialed in? Ive tried fx, jsp hades, hn hunter extreme and some cheap stuff. Sligs and pellets. Ground squirrels at 60-100 yds. Wildcat 3 btl with arken epl4(way more scope than i need at this range but.. quality over.. ). Flyers with everything ive tried. Some fly inchess off!

runnin 130 psi on the reg, barrel clean, everything tight. Stock barrel and liner. Hammer bumped up 1/4 turn..

Your 30 cal most likely will be usable as long as it’s under 80fpe for our “Long Range” match’s. To shoot our regular field target match, a gun 20fpe or less, no larger than .22 is required. We would encourage you to come out and shoot. Here’s a link to events that are in the area.
Thank you. Just got back from the range. Starting to look at .22 cals to be able to compete there (for fun only)
Any suggestions that would be a “good” gun, but not a $1,000? I saw some of the guns from the list and there were some that were very expensive.

N/A  Ideas to Illuminate Air Bolts

Maybe you can use Ultra-High Frequency RFID tags and reader.
Ultra-High Frequency RFID tags
have the fastest reading speed and the longest read range. While near-range UHF tags are an option, compared to HF tags, near-range UHF tags have a shorter and narrower read range. However, near-range UHF tags are less susceptible to interference, providing a performance advantage.

Far-range UHF RFID tags can read at ranges as far as 12 meters with a passive RFID tag, whereas active tags can achieve ranges of 100 meters or more. The operating frequency of UHF RFID tags ranges from 300 MHz to 3 GHz, and UHF tags are the most vulnerable to interference. To counteract signal interference, UHF tag producers often manufacture readers and antennas that maintain reliability in troublesome environments.

UHF tags are cheaper to make than HF tags (~5-15¢ labels compared to 50¢-$2) , causing them to appear in a wide variety of applications including inventory management, anti-theft management, and wireless device configuration.

RFID technology is a growing market, and UHF tags are becoming increasingly popular due to their lower cost and equivalent effectiveness to LF and HF tags. If you are searching for a new tagging or tracking system that will improve your business model, RFID may be a valuable option to consider.

RAW Rapid  Strange Velocity Readings

IMO, 11-12fps SD variation won't show up in POI changes. I deliberately test speed changes when I setup a new rifle or select new pelelts, and with all the variables related to my steadiness, the wind, the pellets, etc...I never see a measurable change in POI until I get to about 30fps ES and over 15fps SD. That fps variation can be down to pellets, although you said it was repeatable, which makes me think it isn't pellets.
The insides of regulators require everything to be just right to function properly. Using the proper grease is a rather crucial item, because excessive stiction on the o-rings can affect how quickly the regulator returns to it's setpoint and if it does so reliably. RAW uses just a little bit of Krytox GP205 (or 206) on their regulator o-rings. Also, I've seen regulators "settle in" after a few hundred shots, so you might shoot it a bit more and see if it improves.
Happy shooting
Thanks for the info. So far the accuracy seems good the strange velocity just bugs me. But I will keep shooting and see what happens.

AEA  New toy arrived

Fx atomic were great for my .25 challenger but weirdly enough cheap ass apolo domed 25 and 34gr were the most accurate. Gotta wash em with a lil dawn first but $8 a tin I don't mind. Get em from fieldsupply, com cuz amazon doesn't know how to pack pellet tins
I dont mind the apolo pellets or slugs both seem pretty good

Element Nexus Gen 1 vs. Gen 2: Thoughts?

I consider myself a moderate scope junkie. While I can't afford the best scopes, I like to outfit my finest airguns with the finest glass I can. Earlier this year I started using reading glasses as my once perfect vision is starting to fail. It should be noted that ALL of my scopes are FFP. So that affects my opinion on the reticles below.

Most of my airguns run the Hawke Frontier or Sidewinder range. I think they are good scopes that don't break the bank. The clarity is good, the reticles are good, the turrets are... ok (so I primarily use them with hold-over), and the eye boxes are quite forgiving. I've also owned a variety of Athlon scopes. They offer a good bang for your buck. The upper end (like the Cronus) is an excellent scope that closely compares to the Element Nexus & Nightforce NX-8 scopes, though the Cronus is quite a bit larger. A few years ago I ran the Midas Tac on several airguns. While its a good all around scope, my failing eyes simply couldn't get along with the ultra fine reticles.

I tried the G1 Titan scope and did not like it. It was a beast of a scope, and even though it boasted relatively high magnification, it wasn't really usable and gave me an instant headache. I find that most mediocre scopes are best utilized under 75% magnification. I've yet to try the Element Helix, but I've read good things about the price point vs quality & features.

My best airguns run the Nexus G1 & G2, and the NightForce NX-8's. So I will compare these for you:

Regarding the glass of the Nexus G1 & G2 I can't tell any difference. They are both really good, and the edge to edge clarity is outstanding even at maximum magnification. The illumination is great (red only) and there is no bleeding on either model. The G2 does offer more magnification, and superior turrets and controls. The parallax on these scopes demands more precision, and the eye box is pretty tight at the highest magnifications. The reticles are crisp, though a bit on the thinner side. For my eyes this is a non-issue (so long as the eye bell is properly focussed). The G1 is selling at a great price and is a great scope, but the G2 is simply better.

The NX-8's also have great edge to edge clarity throughout the magnification range. The illumination is great (red & green) and there is no bleeding. The turrets have a great tactile feel, better than the Nexus G1, but not as good as the Nexus G2. The parallax and the eye box on these scopes are more forgiving. The reticles are crisp, though a bit on the thicker side.

The older I get the more selective I get with my optics. When I shoot I typically spends hours behind the glass. If a scope isn't easy to use, doesn't make me happy, or gives me a headache, you'll probably see it in the Classified section 👀

-Michael
Hello Micheal been looking for this type of comment, without hesitating on brand, and now that you have Nexus g2 and NX8...which scope will you buy again? NEXUS G2 OR NX8.....Im in the decision of one of those 2 but think on getting NX8 4-32, but also seen good coments on Nexus g2.

can I get an opinion on this scope

DISCOVEROPT ED-AR 1-8X24 LPVO Rifle Scope with Parallax Adjustment, First Focal Plane Rifle Scope 34mm Tube with Illuminated Reticle, Waterproof Fog-Proof Rugged Tactical Hunting Scope

Absolutely love all my discovery scopes. Even the lower FFP series are damn on point. I sold several much more expensive scopes and replaced with all Discovery optics. All save for one Arken .
