What's your favorite shot group you've had?

The wind finally died down and I was finally able to shoot last night. Before the weather got too bad i moved my 135 yard target to 125 so I wouldn’t have to cross the creek and possibly crash & burn. I walked down there today to change out the paper and saw this one weird group. It didn’t even register last night when I shot it. It’s the one in red. Then I thought of this topic. The group below it was also shot last night and I think it wanted to be an X also. I don’t think I’ll ever duplicate this again because my final group is upper left after some clicking. For now I have to wonder if when this gun sits for a week or two it shoots X groups until it limbers up.

Daystate  Daystate Air Wolf Leaking Air?

Most likely ... The Poly o-ring that seals the Peek seat & poppet.
It hardens over time, gets a flat spot and starts leaking over time.

Tho some spritzing of soapy water at some of the external joints & connections and at Pressure transducer where screwed and checking the silicone sealing for not bulging, broke seal ... These areas needs to be checked before blindly going in.

High Pressure Pneumatics Pellet Packaging

Holy Cow! I ordered a dozen or so tins of pellets from them and the packaging must be seen to be believed. It took me a while to get into it.

BTW, they have/had a great sale on FX pellets, not sure if they have any stock left, but even if not, it's worth an order to see the packaging!
I too am a loyal customer of theirs and I LOVE how my ammo arrives all 100% safe and secure with outstanding packaging!

Umarex  New Notos arrived

I've had the best luck with the JSB Hades 15.89 gr pellets for accuracy in my Notos. A number of three shot .2" groups at 25 yds.

Drives me crazy how the same pcp rifle in same caliber can produce such different results...with 15.89gn JSB my groups suck...pic is 20 yards

Two new scopes one problem

Appears you are not interested in learning from those with experience and trying to help you so please continue on in your own manner scratching your head.
I’m used to solving my own problems, who judges experience? As in just newer to airguns but lifetime of shooting, competing, reloading for up to 1000 yard f class, long range western hunting, etc, doesn’t matter, never proficient at shotgunning.
Original post was merely about 2 new scopes, same manufacturer ( centered crosshairs) , same gun, unmoved mounts, same pellets, same range.
One scope close to bull on mounting the other feet low and not enough elevation to correct. I know how to correct with angled rails or rings. Yes several “helps “ were not relevant as mounting itself was not problem.
ive mounted a lot of scopes just never anything to this extreme difference . Scope in question is on target now with the raised rear ring. Will investigate further when I get out of cellar

Hawke Airmax

Yessir it was still factory centered, I check all my scopes out of the box a couple turret revolutions to make sure they arent maxed out. Rings are always torqued to spec using my Wheeler Fatwrench according to both ring and scope manufacturer. I also use feeler gauges to make sure I am torqueing the caps evenly. I was able to zero the new scope within 4-5 pellets, tracking perfect according to turret specs. Shot one group of 5 for accuracy, was really excited my new Gamo was looking great. Second group for accuracy wondered several inches with each shot. The recoil actually broke the windage erector assembly, and was returned for store credit. Right now I have an SWFA fixed 10x on it and have shot almost a whole tin through it with no loss of zero. That is after a handful of other scopes fell apart on top of this thing. And the reality is I am not special, springers have been dismantling scopes for longer than I have been alive. My theory is the magnum spring/piston guns will break pretty much any scope with enough use cycles.

The most common failure is the wire style reticles in a break barrel pellet rifle. A lot of them are glued in place up against a reinforcement that is designed to push the reticle against the stop under recoil. The glue is just to keep it in one position while the physical stop takes all the force. Now introduce recoil in the opposite direction and the glue is the thing taking all the force of inertia under recoil. Etched reticles are a much better option, but the rest of the delicate internals are all subject to the same issue. Recoil in the direction opposite of a powder burner. There is a reason virtually all scope manufactures that used to be springer rated are no longer. Leupold being the classic example. They used to market their scopes as springer rated and lifetime warranty, now mounting on a spring/piston pellet rifle will technically void your warranty. And if you read the fine print to most manufactures scopes that are "Airgun Rated" they explicitly state not for use in spring/piston guns.

If vibration is tough on scopes no AR would be able to keep one together. There is a pogo-stick in the buffer tube lol. If you have the time you should check out some slow-mo video of powder burners flexing/vibrating during discharge. They are far more violent and extreme than your average airgun, but all the inertia from recoil is effectively in a single direction.
The double recoil is a problem but in our groups of a dozen shooters, half who shoot 500 plus pellets a week, over three years there has been one scope failure. It was an Element. They replaced it in less than a week for the fellow. A certain percentage of all and everything will fail. As long as the warranty coverage is good, not a big deal. I Have had 3000.00 scopes with problems, it happens.

Vevor compressor

Thanks Sleestak, the family saw me with the old trusty hand pump today and felt bad for the Oldman. I had no idea that they were buying me a compressor for father's day, and all they were doing was trying to surprise me. I'm new to the pcp world and so were they. They are getting me another one. Which of these brands are considered reliable? Rovair, JTS, or Nomad, these are some of the ones they have researched.
Most are some iteration of the other, unfortunately.

This forum board is full of disappointed compressor owners....basically. So it's a good place to find out in what ways different models cause misery.

IMO, for the money the YH is probably your most economical bet. And I use the word bet literally.

Is this how you use you Alkin ??

I bumped my Alkin a little bit, So when it reaches 4,800 PSi , It turns off, I open the two valves on the left lower side , I guess I need to open that third one. But like I said my compressor turns off , So I can't let it run..
Mike
The man I bought my compressor from only had bad things to say about auto shutoffs. In his mind it guaranteed a shorter service life when people allowed them to shut down and not immediately bleed the pressure and restart compressor, immediately being exactly that, not an hour later. There was some rather salty navy language used when he talked about auto shutoffs and the average person.

Atn x-sight 3x9

I just got the Atn x-sight 3x9. During the one shot zero is there any way to adjust magnification. There is an icon that says zoom on the screen that looks similar to an hour glass. I have yet to figure it out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I can't find the answer anywhere.
If you have the ltv, the default is at 3 power, no way to magnify during one-shot-zero

FX  Shot my MK 3 Today

Mine can sit and maintain poi from the first shot also.
I really think it's because I'm not pushing the gun to it's max to chase high numbers.
I agree with you about not pushing it to the max.....I actually struggled with mine with the poi change after it sit for any length of time as I didn't really know what I was doing with it. It has been a real learning curve getting it figured out, but I can honestly say that I don't have that problem anymore and I absolutely love it now.....I will not get into what I have done to mine to eliminate the problem as that is a highly debated subject that I will leave to those that know more than me....lol

N/A  Kraford and Lypt… Has anyone received any products from them recently?

To close the loop, my gravity rail did finally arrive. So what I learned from this is: K&L is still in business, and it appears they will eventually deliver on your order… but expect a very long wait with zero communications. Also expect a charge on your card months before the order ships.

The rails I ordered were great quality! I’m very happy with the functionality and performance… I can now balance the guns perfectly on the tripod. The only minor complaint I have is the two rails have slightly different dimensions… so I have to adjust my ball head clamp every time I want to switch guns on the tripod.

At this point I plan to avoid making any future purchases directly from their website.
