Tuning  HW95-Which Tuning Kit?

Vortek kits don't come with a piston seal. You can include them but they don't automatically come with it. After trying nearly all available piston seals I almost exclusively use the Vortek seals. The exception is when there's comp tube deformation. A thin lipped factory Weihrauch seal is more flexible and will seal better.

I've used both Vortek and ARH kits. I've had good and bad luck with both. Tom at Vortek is just easier to deal with.
Yep, I stand corrected on the piston seal 👍. It is an easy drop down add-on when buying a Vortek kit, but it does cost extra.

RTI  P3 leaking

It’s your valve. Just get a new one. I think we had this discussion before about guns. As they advance, sometimes those advancements come at a price. Yes us balance valve guys are a step ahead of the P1 guys in several areas, but the old school P1 platform has the tried and true PCP engine. Eventually the balance valve engine will be the tried and true PCP when we advance to something else. Maybe.

Seneca/Sam Yang  Iron sights?

No but I shoot irons about 95% of the time with my other guns from 10m to 100y mostly 50y as my regular everyday range . Rarely scope . If it's something you want to do just go do it and enjoy.

One of my mottos is " buying a gun without sights is like buying a car without a steering wheel". 😜

Figured I'd add a picture as well for fun ..lol

FX  .30 cal Air Rifle Uses

Ok well I guess this issue is making more sense now. Some people just have a complex, so you wont mind if I stop reading your "contributions" to the forum.
This is what happens when iknowwhatimdoing argues with idontknowwhatimdoing. There are a lot of things in life that are legal but still not a good idea. I think it’s legal to light my nutsack on fire, you do your thing and I’ll do mine.😉

What kind of damages do spring airguns cause to scopes?

Just about every scope on the market is only reinforced to take recoil in a single direction. A spring/piston air rifle recoils forward then a bit rearward. The forward recoil can be pretty sharp depending on the model.

The scope reticle is usually the thing that fails first, as many of them are not secured very well to resist the recoil in the "wrong" direction. This usually shows up worst in the cheapest scopes, but can also break apart some expensive ones. The other things affected are the errector assembly and paralax assembly. The recoil can break the threads, or jostle the internal lenses loose, etc.

AEA  Megalodon hammer spring

Does it still shoot at the same power at high bottle pressure? If so, the spring is fine.
If i wanted to change the spring on the megalodon anyone done it? I don't know if it lost energy they advertised fps for the .50 cal 22 inch barrel is 930 fps here are my results...never did a chrony test when new i just got the chrony.

Airgun Technologies  pest control 177 slugs or 22 pellets

Guys, thanks for the input.
With the info so far I'm favouring the 177 as it is the lower power option but plenty for the pests present. I'm gonna find a bit more info on the vixen long 177.
I'm seeing some contradictions on the internet people pretty much are describing it as a very accurate, rock solid gun but some say it quite some say its loud.
If anybody found a db number or sound measurement on the vixen 177 long (full power not 12fpe) please share ;).

Had a 177 Vixen long. Sold it a while back and wish I never did. Was super accurate with 10gr zans, jsb 10gr slugs and pellets. I never got a DB number but had to be one if not the quietest guns I had. I used it for pack rats around the wood pile. It's a 50yrd shot from my porch and had no issues. The gun also has a nice look to it. I think you would be more than happy with the vixen!

HW/Weihrauch  .20 HW97KT Pellet Performance Comparison Test

Furthermore scrubbing the barrel removes all the leading that helps accuracy. All but the finest custom hand lapped barrels require some fouling to shoot better. If the term fouling is negative to you use the term seasoning. After scrubbing a barrel aggressively it can take a hundred or more shots to season a barrel again. Most airguns will lose accuracy and velocity when scrubbed to bare steel. By scrubbing I mean using a bronze wire brush and or polishing compound. Anything less doesn't remove all deposits. That means dry patching or patching with mild solvents doesn't count as "scrubbing". They also dont really fully clean a bore either.

As long as you run soft lead pellets through a decent quality barrel you never need to clean a barrel. Almost all my airguns havent been scrubbed after I switched away from hard lead pellets. The one's that have were for mysterious accuracy problems the same as yours. Scrubbing might have seemed to fix the problem because it gave me or the gun a break. It actually never fixed the problem but in reality it temporarily degraded overall accuracy.

If you don't believe me take a seasoned gun with thousands of shots when everything is working well, chronograph it, scrub the barrel and watch both the accuracy and velocity decrease noticeably. I guarantee it. If it don't it wasn't fully scrubbed clean.

This is why I only scrub and polish new, new to me used guns and tunes. Never as part of a maintenance routine.

Airguns have no propellents or carbon to warrant routine cleaning. They also dont reach velocities that melt lead in the barrel.

Now hard lead like Crosman and some other companies use to prevent shipping damages has a higher percentage of antimony which can build up. Softer lead can't clear previous hard lead fouling so a scrubbing becomes occasionally required when hard lead pellets are used. Since switching to soft lead some of my rifle barrels haven't been cleaned in 30k shots. I challenge you to shoot them and tell me the accuracy is sub standard.

Anyways that's it. A dirty barrel aint your problem. A good scrubbing might seem like it helps but it was something else. The scrubbing actually temporarily degrades velocity and accuracy because it removes beneficial fouling or seasoning if you prefer.

I hope I explained this in a way that makes sense. Its counterintuitive based on traditional firearm cleaning practices. But these ain't firearms by a longshot.

Be well
Ron
Hi Ron
I looked that article up and read it. I had shot Barracuda Greens in the Gauntlet2 prior to that issue and resolution. The G2 is the rifle with the sharp leade. It damages the pellets eventually fouling, which is unrelated to my HW barrels.

Skout  Skout Epoch tuning questions?

Glad to know someone has gone into modifying their Epoch, I modify most of my guns and on buying an Alpha Wolf last year I made major modifications to it and run the high power software, but I have configured it to be still under the UK limit, but it means I can select my pellet weight and the desired speed,

Although this is a brand-new gun I have little faith in most dealers for warranty repairs so will probably end up doing some modifications, looking at you pics it looks like the valve seats/TP are available separately? (don't know about UK though) but I suspect it may end up enlarged slightly as this alone is going to affect just how the high pressure reg and dwell effect the velocity and its control, thanks for the insight.
