First shots with the new Hawke Sidewinder 8-32X56

My first quality scope was a Sidewinder 6x24x56 SFP I purchased used 7 years ago. Mounted it on my Boss & it remains there til this day (my favorite gun & scope). Though I'm not original owner Hawke serviced it for free a couple years ago after I had a mishap. Great scope, great service imho.

N/A  My best 23 yard group....today...pretty good.

Most are afraid to try. I shoot my Diana 54 in .22 at 100. Goal is 5 shots at 1 inch. I have had back to back 1.5. I have had 4 cutting a hole several times but also 1 2 to 3 inches away. Tough to get conditions that will work. Come summer I will get to an old quarry, set up before daylight and hope to get a quit half hour or, so. I shot about 40 matches last season, not one in calm conditions. Windy and the big problem......Very switch. Wind wears the flags out.
We're thinking alike, but I'm going for the Superdome. 😁

Vector Veyron vs Vector Hugo

I've done really well with Vector scopes and have been using them for years. Mine are Taurus and Paragon. Recently I got a Veyron. It's ok, but I didn't think it was as clear.
You likely got a vector that just barely passed QC, they usually are super clear throughout their entire line. But sometimes one slips though the cracks.

Hey @tibor would you mind running through your gun setup for a newbie to learn from? No stranger to small bore competition.

Went to the MARS rimfire nationals a few years ago and placed 4th in teams.

DM me if you arent willing to post publicly.

N/A  Umarex Markpoint opinion on and a look inside

SO COULD THE TRIGGER BE IMPROVED
YES
first off, the 2 sears are very well made, they are thick and smooth high quality piece
terminality
upper sear
lower sear
trigger bar
changes
the upper sear had its contact point reduced 0.8-1.00mm
the trigger bar had a drill end of 1.67mm added with epoxy
the grip safety had the internal pin removed so it no longer stopped the trigger bar
all contact points plus got Ultimox 226 applied
the trigger pull is firm but breaks crispy vs the hard pull that was from the factory

so was this a waste of time on a cheap pistol YES-NO-MAYBE
THIS IS WHAT A TINKERER DOES
now i spent hours at this
my first trigger bar lengthening was 1.98mm so that .31mm made all the difference
now with the trigger mod and seeing it is easy to cock it would be a great youth pistol BUT the sights have to be addressed and i think a weaver mount and some epoxy and a reflex sight would do that

Hull Cartridge in the UK

They ship to us. I have bought several parts from them and had them shipped to Alabama. Shipping cost are quite expensive.
Thank you for that information.

American Air Arms  AAA Evol question

I am really just wondering if anyone has heard that some of the Evols specifically the 15" is not going to be made. Or if the replacements may be coming out soon
Tom confirmed at the end of December on HAM that the 15” Evol will continue exactly the same as the old version, except it will have an externally adjustable reg

Daystate  Black Wolf

I have a white and blue spring they sent with the gun I have not taken the spring out of the gun I am guessing it is a red spring
Start by degassing the gun
change spring to the white one
drop regulator pressure to 110
set power wheel at minimum
regass gun
shoot a few rounds before chrono work
for starts you want 810 to 850 FPS if too slow
increase reg pressure 5 bar at a time
and shoot several times before increasing pressure
when your speed reaches 890 ish
stop adjusting the regulator and start using the power wheel

FWB  FWB 65

The 65 and Izzy are two pretty awesome pistols! Years ago, I made the choice which to keep and went with the FWB. Which I still love, mind you - but now really wish I'd just hung on to the IZH, too. 🙁

If you're an old cuss with creaky joints like me, here's a trick for cocking the FWB springers. The traditional method is: hold it upright - grab lever overhand - pull sideways, like so:

But I find it's much easier on wrists and elbows to: hold it palm up - grab lever underhand - pull up, ta dahh:

Lefty here with a righty FWB , I actually hold the body of the gun in my right hand and pull the lever with my left "flatening" the gun open across my chest . Very easy leverage .

RAW Rapid  Sekhmet - SmartGauge 28 Pro - Leaking ?

One last thing, I think Most of my SEKHMET Smart Gauge 28 Pro / RAW HM1000x leak issues were created by me  , as I did not provide enough stock clearance for the larger gauges to comfortably fit. When pressurizing the gun, the lack of space created unwanted pressure on the V Block and regulator O-rings causing minor leaks.

My test was to pressurize a gun with the most issues, out the stock ....... and then place in the stock at 250 bar.
The pressurized action didn't want to fit well, requiring me to crank on the stock screw to get it to conform o_O .

Hence, I went back and removed an adequate amount of stock to fit the action, requiring little pressure to align stock screw.
I can now see a little daylight between the gauge and the stock when full tightened.

Nothing like shooting yourself in the foot ............ AGAIN !!!!!

Filling hose stuck on fill probe even after line is vented

Thanks, so whenever you fill do you have to also screw in & out when done or do you leave it in? This is a weird one. Starting to think that non-standardized fittings might have something to do with the problem too somehow. If you leave it in & need a magnetic dust cover for it PM me your address. I'll send you a couple.
Gerry
Thanks. Ya I will Most likely leave it in. I have a few fittings so will try them and see if it makes a difference.

If you have a dust cover that would be great. I was actually looking for some options. I’ll send you PM.

Mike

HW/Weihrauch  HW30 walnut

Okay. I’m kind of glad to have you a few steps ahead of me to pass along what you have learned. Sounds like yours is looking pretty good now. Perhaps I should stay with the walnut oil for a while and follow your footsteps. Then in a while I’ll get the boiled linseed oil. Isn’t that the stuff you have to be really careful about disposing of your used rags? Thanks,
Kenny
Generally speaking, yes. I use a little 2x2inch patch to apply, or piece of paper towel about that large. When finished I either wet it and put in trash or simply lay it across the cap on a closed can of BLO. Honestly it is too small by itself to generate enough heat to combust. Same with the one paper towel I might later rub the stock down with. Also any of these are discarded in a closed kitchen trash can which limits oxygen supply even if they should reach combustion temperature. That is one thing I constantly think about. Wetting rags and putting in closed trash can has worked for me for years. The only fire in the area I know of attribted to that was at a house a next door doctor was having built. A painter finishing a bunch of cabinets threw a large quantity of used rags in a large can and that started a fire.

Honestly I would think any oil could present the problem of oily rags combusting, especially what are called drying oils which includes walnut oil, and tung oil. BLO is more at risk because it has drying agents, agents which speed up oxidation, incorporated which makes it dry faster.

AEA  Rifle won't Fill from Bottle - Fill Port Issue?

Quick Question. I am trying to fill my AEA Challenger Pro and I have the tank at about 4K PSI but the rifle won't fill.. Fill port is screwed in all the way.. I must be missing something obvious?

EDIT - Solved.. Looks like the fquick disconnect fittings were not compatible and even unscrewed no air was coming out of fill port. I think I remember reading that not all the connections are made the same..

Buy 3 get 1 free

I'm almost tempted to jump on that deal, but I really doubt that those pellets will match, or beat, my JSB's(of which I have a 17 year supply!). So if I bought some, they would end up on my shelf gathering dust like so many of the other pellets that got benched due to the JSB's superiority.
There should not even me mentioned in the same breath. Normas are real inconsistant in size and weight. Not the worst but not for serious shooting either.

FX  Need Help: FX Chronograph Warranty Issue After Dealer Closure

I write this not out of anger, but with a heavy heart and a lingering hope that someone, somewhere, might still care. Weeks ago, I reached out to fx team with a plea for help regarding my fx Chronograph a device I once trusted and cherished. Today, I write one final time, not to demand answers, but to mourn the silence I’ve been met with.

I am not here to shame or accuse. I am simply a loyal customer who believed in your brand’s promise of quality and support. When my fx radar chronograph failed, I didn’t ask for favors—I offered to PAY for repairs, replacements, or any solution you could provide. But my emails vanished into the void. My forum post, public and earnest, was met with indifference. Even as I sit here, disheartened and stranded in a country where this device cannot be repaired locally, I’m left wondering: Is this what loyalty earns? A wall of silence?

This isn’t just about a failed product. It’s about trust shattered, hope dissolved, and the quiet resignation of realizing that even the most respected brands can make a customer feel invisible. I had hoped your company would stand by its products, stand by the people who believed in you. Instead, I’ve been left with a paperweight and a lesson learned.

To others reading this: Let my experience be a reminder. Research not just the product, but the integrity of those behind it. A brand’s true colors show not in glossy advertisements, but in how they treat customers when things go wrong.

To FX Airguns, I’ll say goodbye now. I won’t reply again, nor will I wait for a response I’ve come to accept may never come. But know this: A single act of accountability could have saved a customer. Instead, you’ve lost one forever.

With regret
Your broken customer
