Daystate  Gun Case

I really like my Pelican case with the Magpul DAKA Grid foam. This one is the Pelican iM3100. The Magpul foam is great because I don't have to commit to cutting a solid foam for a particular loadout. I have 2 rifles with different configurations and it's nice to be able to arrange the foam to accommodate either one depending on which one I want to carry.

It is a bit heavy but I love the peace of mind it gives that I can just throw it in the back of the car along with the other luggage without worrying about the gun.

Metro/Twin cities, MN Pellet Request

I'm up in Mille Lacs, I'm not coming down to the Cities this weekend but I may have some FX JSB made pellets.
I appreciate it. But I'm not sure if the 2.5 hr drive up north is worth it. :ROFLMAO: I also just got an email that Utah Air gun shipped my pellets. They shipped it Fedex 2Day ship!

Brocock/BRK  Sniper XR Magnum regulator adjustment

I have my HR (XR and HR same gun just bolt vs sidelever) tuned (reg screw is thru the stock in the bottom), to shoot 18.1gr @ 875 fps and it is soooo accurate that I don't want to change it.
These are in the top four or five finest airguns ever made, period.

Here’s an older discussion on the topic

Wooden stock for the Bullshark.

I got home from a family gathering this evening and decided to test my brother’s 30 cal carnivore. We had put a Lane reg in it a while back and it leaked since. He dropped it off last week and I fixed the leak. It’s still fairly inaccurate, needs more work and tuning. While I had the targets tacked up at 50 yards, I figured I might as well shoot the newly finished Bullshark. When I had purchased it the only pellets I had were hatsan 17.75 vortex and cphp. It shot decent at 30 yards with the vortex pellets. I loaded 2 of the Big Air mags with 18.13 JSB and shot this.

24 shots I have no idea what fps, I badly need to get a crony. My bro used to have one till he shot it right in the display. I do know that’s a dead squirrel at 50 yards. Pay no attention to the 30cal holes up top. That’s how badly the carnivore spread out.

The weather is pretty nasty around here now and it’s supposed to be lows in the single digits all next week.

What power x are you using for 100 yards?

I like to see my hits, on 100 or 300 or 500 .... x50 power for me is comfortable (with great optics).
I came from decades of archery - long range competition before I touch the airguns world, so the transfer was easier for me.

Long ago I have learned what that means training the brain first also being fit for the sport.
Train the brain for mental pressure, for heartbeats, for target wobbling like mirage for example, for seeing or not seeing the ring or just the center of it, train for weather in all conditions... and so on.

Short range focus for prism sights?

A few thoughts.

Element Optics is said to be coming out with a 3x version of their Hypr-7. Presumably it will have side focus like the current 7x.

I have an inexpensive Monstrum 3x. Looking through it indoors at three yards shows a decently in focus image & no noticeable parallax error. However, if wanted to try to use it at three yards often I would find a cheap flip up cap & center drill a small aperture to see if the change in depth of field improved focus. Of course this will likely affect light gathering.

Lastly, I agree that 3x seems excessive for close range like that.

P

Maybe a little pouch on your belt a to dump a tin in and pinch out a pellet as needed?

N/A  Life time gun?

My other son & law likes the drs a lot. I was looking at that one for him eventually. Not sure on shot count on that one. Can’t be very much.
The 700 has a 300~cc cylinder. If you're shooting slugs on the heavier side at really high power, not much, maybe 1 mag. I use lighter slugs fast and get about 2 mags. If you're using pellets at ideal pellet speeds, it's a typical 300cc tube gun. The power range is enormous.

King or Crown if traditional form, high shot count & high energy are your parameters. A crown vp can be gotten new in synthetic for 13-1400 But I'm assuming you want the walnut or laminate look. The king has a higher ticket, but crown is in the ballpark. And can pull 10±fpe more in .25 than Wolverine R.

Finding the right size slugs for impact m4.25 700mm barrel, best size for. 22 is .217 or .218 but in .25 would be the same?

My 600mm superior heavy barrel on my King does it's best with .250 on the money 🤑 I've tried .249/.251 and both shot acceptable but .250 shines through. There's also the speed factor! Testing testing and more testing! Lol
There's no easy answer just have to find what works best for you and your barrel. At the moment I'm shooting .250 34 grain Varmint knockers XLHP at 980 and it's a freaking laser out to 100.

CF LSS Texan not firing! Please help I’ve tried everything

My power wheel is getting messed up from using an Allen key to turn it…it is alwyas supposed to be tough to turn? Oh and my gauge is filled full but not to the red

Definitely something wrong with how this was put together - hate to say it but unless you want to get into disassembling it you just need to return it.

FX  Carbon fiber sleeves for FX Panthera .22 700 mm - Anybody makes them ? where to buy ? measurable accuracy Improvements?

A few comments:

This is late but I did verify that the carbon fiber sleeve shipped with my Panthera .22 700 is exactly the same as the one I purchased for my Impact.

Check this FX site. https://fxairguns.com/rifles/the-panthera/
Scroll down to "Barrel" specs. 600 cm and 700 cm Pantheras ship with carbon fibre sleeves.

I bought my Panthera new from UA. It arrived with a carbon fibre sleeve installed. There was no special order involved.

As to quality control, the shroud on my new rifle was heavily contaminated with carbon fiber dust and shavings mixed with what appears to be silicon oil. It was a real mess that took substantial time and effort to clean out. The carbon fiber sleeve was out of spec. The diameter was .003" thicker in the middle than at the ends. Removal was difficult. All-in-all, I was not impressed.

N/A  FX M4 Compact vs Krait Standard vs BRK Ghost Carbine

I just returned M4 Cooper Compact. Brand new rifle cost $2k, had issues with velocity dropping & cold start… I sent it back to repair but do not like it back… so I am ordering Ghost in next two weeks.
Good choice on the ghost! M4 has its issues, but you can get it to this (after sitting two days):
IMG_5524.png

Did it cost me $ for mods? Yes. Did it cost me time and nerves? Yes. Was it worth it? Imho yes cause the thing is accurate as hell and feels/handles/shoots like a dream. Not gonna sugar coat it, took effort and already had to chase a slow leak on it but once you get it where it’s supposed to be it’s awesome. They should just knock off $500 for giving you a 80% product and making you take care for the last 20%…

Air gunning in SW Louisiana

I shot the Cajun Spring Classic in 2023. This is a great facility and they run a very good AAFTA GP weekend. If I were closer, I’d be there often!

I heard no Cajuns this year! We all benefit from getting there and experiencing this venue, atmosphere and the great locals. The folks that organize the Cajuns are very kind and welcoming! Whatever the issue, we all need it solved‼️ Love ❤️ and respect ✌🏼

N/A  What's this about "cold barrels?"

The term came from firearms. In airguns, the term is used more to indicate the first shot after the gun hasn't been fired in a while. This would also hint at the issues of this first shots and how it affects the point of impact (not necessarily temperature related) such as regulator creep and sticky valves.
The term is questionable semanticly in firearms as well. Some firearms people think it's actually solidified or condensed grime/oils in the barrel which is scrapped off by the first shot. If so, then it can be happening in airguns as well.
One YT video that I saw said it's actually also a cold shooter problem- first shot for the shooter for the day.
