Umarex  Umarex AirSabre

wow there is a lot to learn about compressors thank you I will look into the GX-CS4 I'm in Ontario so finding a AirSabre is the trick
Search "Yong Heng," "GX-CS Series," in archives for more information. 3.5 years with $272 Yong Heng, did replace leaky gauge and water pump. Pump my fault for pulling on wires removing from water bucket, new one $11. Again, not portable but easily fills SCBA tank for away missions. WM

Compressor - New GX CS4 Performance Issues!

I had a very slow fill issue with my GX CS4 taking more than 3 times as long to fill. When it got to around 2,000 PSI it was sucking canal water and struggling to the intended fill. I was about to give up troubleshooting it and after contacting GX customer service they replied back with a few instructions to correct my issue. And, it worked like a charm I am now filling faster than my original deadhead tests when I received the compressor. This is what GX responded to me with and I encourage you to also try these steps.

GX representative response to me via email:

"1) Hello please check if there is leaking carefully first. Include whole hose, bleed valve, burst disc and so on. It mainly was caused by leaking. It is easy to fix. keep the bleed valve tighten, watch pressure gauge and if it drops quickly? then it means it's leaking.

2) If there aren't any air leaks, another possibility, see if compressor runs hard when reaching to 200 Bar or 3,000 PSI? if yes, follow this video to run it for about 1 hour.

you can connect test plug, keep bleed valve tighten, excess grease or dirty will come out from check valve (under burst disc )

3) If still can not solve, water washing , follow this This should surely can solve the problem."

Step 3 above is what corrected my performance issues. Good luck.
My deadhead tests from new were a bit slow (35 sec). I removed the check valve and ran the compressor for 45 min, occasionally swabbing out the accumulation of gunk. When I put it back together, deadhead tests dropped to 28 sec. I cant wait to time my next bottle fill.

FX  Wildcat

Looking to purchase a new squirrel / varmint gun , would a wild cat .25 or .30 be a good choice? Thanks
I purchased the Maverick in .25 and love it for squirrel hunting. I have yet to have one get away when hit, they all have dropped dead on the spot. I think the .25 would fulfill your need.

HW/Weihrauch  Look what UPS just dropped off. A 77 Mk1.

Today I cleaned up, mounted the scope to the correct clock position and set the eye relief. Interestingly the scope has numbered turrets, a resetable zero and zero stop system. All admirable features by today's standards much less something forty years old.

I'm anxiously waiting for the outside temps to reach the 30s so I zero and chronograph this beast. By beast I mean physical size and weight. This thing is a tank.

Tanks ain't that good looking. :)

FX  Angled tank pressure gauge by OUTGUN for fx airguns

thanks ;)
for the bubble level it goes with the trs rail from saber tactical

I no longer have the original M4 rail. I mounted the ST0088 from saber tactical It has the advantage of holding the barrel in place.

Ugh… nice thing. Sadly (or luckily, who would know 😅) I don’t have an FX but an AGT airgun.
But I get you, I believe I would take the same approach as you, if I had ever taken one FX airgun.

FX  FX Maverick top rail a bit short

Yes a cantilever mount is the cheapest option for you. UTG makes a really nice one that is priced low. They make two different heights and two different offsets. I would get a Medium Height (lowest height model) with the 50mm offset. But your face might need a bit higher saddle height.

ETA: Here is a picture of a 1" Medium Height Blue version with the shorter 34mm offset, I got really cheap in ebay:

Western Airguns  Western Sidewinder S Air Leak

Talked with Sean @ AoA and he said that it may not be a blown o-ring, but either a jammed pellet/slug or an incomplete firing that prevents the magazine from forwarding correctly to the next position and then dumps all the air out of the barrel. I was able to fill it up again and tried firing and it is back to shooting correctly. He said the cause can be a slug with too small a diameter. I put the JSB Mk2 Redesigns back in and worked like a charm.

Skout  My Experience with a Skout Epoch and a Submoa barrel

PLEASE send that barrel back to Scout so Scout can send to Sub-Moa for a replacement. Simply put, that barrel should have never been installed in a gun. Rest assured that is not what Sub-Moa produces and many procedures have been put in-place to prevent this type of thing in the future.

Also, keep in mind all Sub-Moa barrels to-date in Scout rifles we provided as blanks. This means the gun builder is responsible for crowning, chambering, internal and external finishing.

It is unfortunate this barrel has made it to the end-user; it is not indicative of Sub-Moa's commitment to producing the best airgun barrels on the planet.
I do appreciate your response.
if my post has provided you with a little more awareness of your barrel‘s, then I feel this was worth the effort in compiling all the information.
Please be aware that this was not an isolated case. I personally reached out to a handful of people and received similar reports. From them, I heard of a few more.
The barrel I tested is a replacement of a 30cal that also had issues.
It was not my barrel, so I do not have anything to send back.
when you say,”internal finishing”, are you imply that Skout is responsible for lapping the barrels after they leave your factory?

Air Venturi  Avenge-X .25 cal tuning question

Previously, I had tuned my .25 Avenge-X tank version using AEAC Steve's method for JSB 33.95 MK2 pellets at 870 fps and it worked very well. Now I am playing around with JSB 25.4 grain pellets mainly to get more shots per fill since I am only shooting paper. I went thru a tune using Steve's method first and I seemed to get about 90 shots before the tank got below the regulator setting. I was trying for 910 fps for those pellets.

Yesterday, I went thru the process of "tuning to the knee". First time I have tried this method. I set the regulator so that the plateau fps was around 940, then adjusted the hammer spring down so I was getting about 900. (I was trying for 910) . With this tune, I get several more shots but it doesn't seem to be as stable as with Steve's method. Accuracy is good but I am only shooting 30 yards in my back yard. I have attached a graph for the whole shot string down to tank pressure of 100bar and a subset of the first 100 shots. Any advice on Steve's way vs the "tune to the knee" way? I plan on re-doing to get close to the 910 fps which is supposed to be optimum for the 25.4 grain JSBs.

Tripod question

My main hobby over four decades is a photography, and I have collected probably over a dozen tripods along the line. Smaller or larger, some are junk cheap, but some were costing decent money.
About shooting from a tripod I would suggest pick one - or make one that is heavy and not moving.
Also you need to play with and make up your mind, I don't like ballheads, the leveling heads work much better, but the best for my mind are gimbal heads.
I have one Leophoto as well, I removed two segments and the remaining I filled with #9 lead shot, using this one for BR quick setup.

HW/Weihrauch  Picked up a new airgun..

Well, tracked it down by preordering from AOA. It wasn't as long as it could have been. In the mean time I have bought a couple of other new guns and several used guns. My HW95 in 20 was my poor response to giving up on the 90 originally, then putting in the preorder. Was not expecting it when I got the call it was in the USA. I NOW HAVE THE NEW 90, a used D54 needing help, and other guns saying shoot me, please! Must get to work on that. It is snowing today and I am like a kid about it. I bought a used snow blower from a friend. Be Well Brothers, Bandito.

FX  Does anyone sell a bottle adapter screw on cap ....

Upon further reflection it's not that great of an idea. Even if you had such a screw on cap, if you have two pressurized bottles installed and remove one, you'll lose quite a bit of air from the remaining bottle before you can get the cap screwed on to the adapter which would be spewing air at a high rate. A much better solution would be to redesign the bottle ports to provide a shutoff control. Probably not high on FX's development list.

Filling Small Buddy Bottles from a Compressor

Strangely enough I recently topped off my buddy bottle directly from my compressor starting around 220 bar to around 300 bar after filling a couple of larger tanks and experienced no noticeable heat on the buddy bottle. That was unexpected and I don’t know why I didn’t feel any heat. Perhaps because the compressor didn’t add much compressed air to the bottle. The room temp was 78-80F.
