What's in your hunting bag?

I replaced my range finder and binoculars with Bushnell’s FusionX 10x40. They’re very clear, bright, spot-on accurate. I chose the FusionX because it was a great product at an excellent price. Although it ranges to one mile, my needs are under 100 yards so it works great. Sage rats don’t have a chance now. My kill ratio has increased dramatically and the amount of missed shots has been reduced significantly.

Cool ranging binos! Awesome pic of the huge ghog you anchored! Really nice shot 👍.

Big Power in a Small Package: Meet the MicroStrike

External mod ability is nice. Will it be reliable and easily serviceable when needed? That’s a lesson that few manufacturers get. Otherwise, they’ve learned from the Automotive world the theory of planned obsolescence…Let’s hope that it’s designed to last.

HW/Weihrauch  Rekord trigger adjustments

I've wondered if someone with more skills than me could solder or epoxy on a replacement stage-length tab...and maybe even drill/tap it for a little adjuster screw?
A piece that holds an adjustment screw could easily be sweated on.
That means soldered for some who might not know.
Would it still fit inside the stock? Might have to be relieved a bit.
You will lose a portion of the safety factor the first stage provides. What model does this trigger fit? What stock in particular?

Finding YOUR Zero - shot by shot

If we study my chart some we can see my initial trajectory apex is probably right around 23 yards; but extends to approximately 32 yards. I could rezero the scope to the middle of the apex say 26/27 yards and reshoot, to minimize holdovers but in my case it’s not that critical since I have hard holdover values I have validated.
Good fun when you are kinda snowed in.

That is an awesome range!

N/A  Looking to purchase 10M competition air pistols for 4H shooting sports, but new to this forum.

The Crosman Silhouette is probably what you are looking for. Comes without rear sight but can be fitted with scope for silhouette or rear sight for 10 meter.

Given no power-source or budget parameters in the OP, I agree that the Crosman Silhouette (often called by its model number 1701P), would be the best choice. Or maybe I should say "an AWESOME choice".

N/A  Looking for a smallbore silhouette pistol

@AirNGasman You are the leading expert in this field, and the go-to for inspiration and knowledge. Could you give us a quick list of what would be needed in a pcp pistol to compete under the current silhouette rules and criteria for max power to possibly knock down a 1/2 scale or even 1/5 scale?

@noremaximus Just an observation in the airgun building world, though the GK1 is a bit "expensive" under your above listed criteria, by the time you build something to fit your needs you'd probably have just as much into it as if you'd have invested in a GK1 and outfitted it with a good accurate optic.

Looks like my second post in this thread, that apparently came a minute after yours AH, probably answers your question(s).

However, what Zack wants to do doesn't follow silhouette rules. It will take a very powerful PCP pistol to consistently knock down 1/2 scale pigs at 50 yards (per his post). However that isn't the case with 1/5 scale silhouettes.

I'll now take this opportunity to apologize to Zack. The 1/2 scale pigs are not as large (so also HEAVY) as I thought they are, but it will nevertheless take something of GK-1 ilk for your purposes.

Zack, I'm attaching a copy of my TEXtreme Field Target Pistol rules for interest/reference sake, Bud; as you sound like someone who might appreciate Pistol Extreme Field Target.

EDgun  EDgun Leshy 2 Barrel Tensioner

1747609360698.png

Well thar she is. It's been raining all day so haven't really tested any. I only have about 35 meters out my back door to shoot, so I don't know if it will show any difference at distance in 9mm. I hope to get one of the Sub MOA barrels in .25 with the faster twist rate for heavier slugs. I would love to have it set at 130fpe with the 9mm Hades and just drop in a .25 kit and keep the same reg/power settings and sling the 45gn slugs at 1050 or whatever. Will try to get out sometime, maybe next weekend where I can stretch it out and get some long distance data.

Moderator for fx impact

What is the best moderator for fx impact?
What caliber what barrel length, what power level? I have an fx donny, a ronin, and a yokozuna.

Hands down buy a yokozuna. Silence is my hangup I'm running 700mm 22 at 74 fpe with a tensioned barrel without a shroud and 1 baffle off the yokozuna for harmonic tuning reasons and it's quiet. The yokozuna or Ryu would be the only one I buy for my other fx gun. When I say quiet, I don't want to attract attention sorta quiet.

Battle of the cheap AliExpress chronographs

I have the 1st and 3rd one. I like the 3rd the best. I got it to work in the app over WiFi, won’t work with iOS so you need an android. The problem is iOS will disconnect automatically if there is not “data” connection. Once using it in android I wast able to copy/paste the data. It will suddenly disappear also, oh and it only tracks 20 shots. It will purge the oldest. I found the app data useless, just use pen and paper or like I do and open excel on an iPad and use a Bluetooth number pad to quickly record.

I have the original labradar and the new LX, and I still find these cheap chronographs very useful for tuning a rifle. I’ve tested them against each other. The velocity might be off by as much as 30fps, but shot to shot they have consistently mirrored each other. So if one shot on the lab is 5fps slower than another he previous shot, the Chinese will also record 5 fps slower
Didn’t know about Wi-Fi. It’s also the one I now use. Did go outside and used the black one for ease of setup.
don’t think I’ll ever use the second one . It does work though and provides all the info . I mean $18 for someone that doesn’t want to spend more .

N/A  Yet another buying help thread

I am a very biased air gunner but I can’t believe there is a better gun than the Maverick from FX. Shoots slugs or pellets with the right barrel liner, 2 regulators(very precise pressures),very large plenum(power!), excellent adjustable trigger, well constructed(high quality!) and many, many aftermarket upgrades are available. If you equip it with the “Shooting with Phil”easy tune micrometer-based hammer spring system($125), it becomes EXTREMELY easy to tune. The new AMP regulators are really, really good and are now standard.
And you get very high shot counts because or the tuning benefits and it is available on the FX Wildcat, too, which is on the same “base” as the Maverick!
Again a highly biased view but I’m very pleased with mine!!!
better hurry up and buy or reserve to get the best price before the tarif incrreases hit ... most dealers do not stock too many mavericks ... used if you can find it ...

Gamo  Pin removal

Take the load off the pin by compressing the ram a bit. It will pop out. You may need to make a fork jig to grab the ram back.
Before i knew that the pin has a flat, i did put pressure on the NP but the pin would not move. Didn't know about the flat. All is good now, and the fork/jig is done. Sure will need it to assemble as well.Jig for Gamo.jpg

Cleaning new barrels.

I will have to check but I believe it was $75. I'm afraid I have breathed more than two times since then and may not remember it precisely! I haven't received it he. It had to travel from Azriona to Misery if you can translate that. I have been called twisted, even sick AND. But never was I called quite right. So I guess a small amount of Ballistol-ed patch run through the bore of a new barrel won't take care of humidity in shipping until it gets to AOA followed by the state of Misery. Be Well Brothers, B.

Ugly paintwork.

I can relate to the previous owner. If the gun is for hunting do what you need to do to make the hunt successful. I know there are people out there that cringe at the thought that I have my Beretta O/U spray painted flat black for duck hunting. Barrel, action and stock. It works for me and if it doesn’t work for the next owner they can clean it off. It’s my gun and I’ll do want with it.
