Airgun Technologies  Uragan 2 questionable* 🤭 raw power

'Been there, done that'..., so to speak. I had a great tune on my U2 .25 700 that was shooting 44gr at 980fps with outstanding accuracy and consistent ES of 3fps. Life was good for a few hundred rounds until the o-ring on the shoulder of the valve poppet split! Pulled the rifle down, replaced the o-ring and all was good. A few hundred rounds later, same story..., split o-ring. I've had the o-ring split 4-times with the hammer spring adjuster plug no tighter than the factory setting of flush with the back of the block.

The problem with the U2 is the valve assembly is improperly engineered to handle the hard hammer strike that produces the best tune.

I'm now running a tune that shoots same 44gr slugs at 950fps but with a much lighter hammer strike. The tune now gives an ES of about 8FPS. All in all..., I am good with the tune as accuracy is still good and so far, the o-ring on the poppet has not split again after a few hundred shots.

I hope you have better luck with your 'hot' tune on your rifle than I have had with mine.
Thank you for this, because I was expecting exactly the same results long term speaking.
My first thought wasn’t to get sucha power, it was consequential while I was tuning for transonic speeds and not having the fine regulation on the balanced valve.
I would be more than happy to go with lighter slugs (33-35gr)@1050fps which would make me more efficiency too, if that makes my tune better in terms of a long term use.
This is just where I stopped for a moment, because not many mentioned such a powers.
Not to mention the great times I had while testing it out 😅

Sacramento Valley Field Target ( SVFTC ) April match is this Sunday the 27th ** CANCLED DUE TO FOUL WEATHER **

Actually needed the Range time after the FT match to be able in confirming my DOPE for the EFT rig
* Shooting a .25 cal with JTS 33.9 grain pellets at 925 fps making @ 65 fpe sadly can't be practiced on our typical <20 fpe FT targets
It's Extreme. Going in blind is the extreme part.

Messed up big time…help!

"So now I have a tank that’s filled to probably around 4400psi" I'm ASSUMING you mean BOTTLE (or air tube). A TANK is a SCUBA or SCBA. BOTTLE is what's on your gun. Nomenclature can have an effect on the answers one gets :)

A tip for loosening gauges.. check the various spark plug wrenches that came with your chainsaws, mowers and the like. I found one that fits these mini gauges and I keep it on my airgun workbench.
Thanks brother I de gassed it no problem and it's off to the pellet shop tomorrow for a quick warranty fix

2300t parts

I found way back in my dad’s closet Crossman 2300 T I guess some of the seals inside or shop because it doesn’t hold air for very long. Maybe get two shots. Anybody have a line on new seals where I can purchase
I’m new to this form and I couldn’t find much on the Internet
Thanks for everybody’s help

Crosman pistols are pretty easy to work on. I was able to fix my 1701. Order the parts and have at it. There are probably thousands of videos on youtube.

Self Employed Air Rifle Technician Required

Interesting, don’t see many help wanted posts here on the forum. Looked up Stonham Aspal, appears to be a very nice small town surrounded by green agricultural lands. Just curious what your typical customers are - landowners that use airguns for pesting or possibly field target competitors?
A mix of customers, pesties, farmers, people shooting squirrels in the garden, and a lot of restoration work.

Grouping on blank paper

Today I tried shooting my Umarex SA10, Excite Econ 2 pellets, with blank paper targets (A4 paper with just a black sharpie dot) each magazine (8 rounds).

Noticed a nice improvement from the first target to the 2-3, then a couple of bad ones (lack of concentration?), then again some better ones. Last shots in double action were higher than the single action ones, but after the finger "adapted" to the new trigger pull they were quite consistent.

The gun is not shooting high as I thought, maybe just a bit. Probably I'm just doing something bad I need to understand.

For reference, grouping in the good target ones was like 5-7 cm if you exclude a couple of fliers each ones.
I need to improve and work on repeatability, if I just concentrate a little less I start shooting worse.

One thing I noticed is that I'm vertical stringing... Even in better targets, holes are nearer but vertically aligned...

Opinions? Thank you!
Distance to target?
type of pellet / weight ?
speed of pellet ?
type of shooting surface?

Moderator clipping question

Steve-l,

There are many different 3D printing plastic materials, with varying properties. PLA has poor thermal creep resistance, despite being fairly strong and stiff at room temperature. Some printing plastics have carbon or glass fiber in them for good creep resistance. My designs are intended for PETG. For mods that have to stand more than 100 PFE I usually recommend an outer tube of carbon fiber or aluminum to act as the pressure vessel and remain straight. Many people print with whatever plastics they have on hand. Their attitude is, if a mod distorts or clips and is destroyed, they will just print another. An OK strategy, providing a misdirected pellet does not go on to cause harm.

There are a fair number of Huben GK1 pistols wearing some of my design light weight printed plastic mods. Some of them have been used for more than a year, and have many thousands of shots through them. The only failure mode I am aware of is if the GK1 firing valve sticks open and dumps a full reservoir of air into the moderator. But that is like crashing a car with 5 MPH rated bumpers into a large tree, at 50 MPH. The car does not survive intact, and neither does the moderator. It would need to be much more robust and much heavier to handle such a crash; to handle what amounts to chamber pressure, rather than muzzle pressure.

The commercial airgun moderator brand STO uses 3D printed inserts, but houses them in more robust outer shells. So, the question if printed plastic mod inserts can be used for airgun mods, has been answered. Making such printed parts from metal would certainly work; but the mods would likely be too heavy, too expensive and too strong. Normally, "too strong" would not be a problem, but an overly robust airgun mod could easily be confused for one someone intends to use on a firearm. As the ownership and use of airgun and firearm mods are handled very differently in the USA from a legal perspective, the use of plastic parts in airgun mods is not seen as a bad thing.
