Match Report for 8/30/2024

We had a great turnout for this month’s match, with 16 shooters joining us for a beautiful day of shooting. A big thank you to Khoa and Lan, who showed up bright and early (around 7:00–7:30 AM) to help set up the sight-in area, paint targets, and tackle a few minor repairs. Their help was much appreciated!

The weather started off cool, in the low 60s, but quickly warmed up into the high 70s by the afternoon—perfect shooting weather. We shot in the back section of the course this time, where the targets are nestled deep in the woods alongside a marsh. The dense cover made visibility a real challenge and added to the fun. We ran 16 lanes total, with a maximum possible score of 64 points.

It’s been a couple of months since I hosted a match, and I’ll admit—I wasn’t quite prepared for the strong turnout. After a bit of a scramble to make some last-minute repairs and get everyone signed in, I realized I was out of the proper scorecards for a 16-lane setup. Things were a bit confusing at first, but with a few quick adjustments, we got rolling, and everything ran pretty smoothly from there.

The air had its own personality this month. A light headwind was pushing shots low beyond 50 yards, with occasional swirls and shifts from side to side—usually under 5 mph, but enough to make wind calls tricky. It definitely kept us on our toes when choosing a hold-off on those longer targets.

We had about five cold lines throughout the day, but I was able to isolate a few so only half the course was paused. We also had a couple of target issues: one protest due to a slow-falling target that just needed some WD-40, and another where a split was called a miss. One target’s string was shot off (those tricky angles!) and a few branches decided to fall right into a killzone. We even had a string get stuck in a tree stump. Just another day on the course!

I shot with Leo Gonzales so I could still manage my match director duties throughout the day. All classes shot the standard AAFTA Format—two shots per target.

Looking ahead, next month’s match will be the Massachusetts State Championship, and we’ll be making a few improvements for that event. Thanks so much to everyone who helped out and made this month’s match a success. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

Results  Benchrest is perplexing

Welcome Mike. Since pellets are affected MOST by a full value wind (90* from muzzle to target) that is where the wind probe is placed to indicate that wind current direction. Probes are useless 12 to 6 or 6 to 12 but that is fine because in those conditions and in quartering winds the pellet is affected less by the wind.

What's your man-o-meter reading today?

LOL Nice! Where did you get yours?

Mine came w a Crosman 1701. It took a few fills to set it.

No judgement brother
That one came off of my Benjamin Gunnar. It just got stuck one day so I had to replace it. It was quite the task of finding a correct one that fit.

N/A  Bottle gun

I posted after looking at the bottles without concideration of how the bottle actually attaches to the rifle. With that I mis-wrote as the Gauntlet 1 rifle has a female fitting that attaches to the male fitting regulator which attached to a male necked bottle via the regulator female appature. Sorry for any confusion.
My bad as well.. I assumed OP was referring the connection at the gun's block.

HW/Weihrauch  HW75 Cocking Effort?

I was concerned that there was something unusual about my gun's cocking effort.

Thanks. What you describe indicates more than a little effort is required.

Do you have the muzzle pointed down when cocking?
yes muzzle pointed down . The cocking effort was a bit of a surprise to me also , but that's the way it is . Holding the gun away from your body there is no solid stop you create two opposing forces to over come .

Benjamin  Bulldog Pic Rail

Apologize for delay in posting been busy in shop. Here is some pics for attaching 4.5 inch MLok low rail on bulldog stock using tnuts.
1. Align rail forward against sling stop and mark holes make sure hole is divided evenly on both halfs of stock.

2. Drill holes in stock making sure to evenly place holes in both halfs. This rail uses 4mm screws, drill holes to just clear screw threads.

3. Remove the 2 screws from stock the front and one in the forestock area.

4. place screws and t nuts in rail.

5. Insert first screw in to stock hole at front while seperating halves, then slide it backwards toward into rear mount hole.
IMG_20250910_124123352.jpgIMG_20250910_124154168.jpg
6. Swing front of rail up and place screw into the front mont hole.
IMG_20250910_124514172.jpg
7. Re Install the stock screws and tighten, this will keep the t nuts from coming out. Then tighten the rail screws until the t nuts lock inside stock.

20 MOA reverse cantilever ?

you can use this with lower scope rings
It's how I do to reduce the 20Moa default on my Priest2 to zero for ratting in sub 7.5joule in the 7-25m range

Huma Regulator Rebuild Problem

As an example of the effect of a velocity variation I offer the results of a little shooting I did today. It's windy here but I still shot a little. First was my Bullshark and the first shot was consistent with the short string I shot so no issues. Then the P35-22. It's regulator is up a little higher to shoot heavier pellets which it does very accurately. But I do not have enough hammer spring to find the peak velocity. So it's velocity was about 40 fps low on the first shot. The second was right up there but not the first. As a result it hit less than 1/4 inch low at 30 yards. Given the accuracy I have with this tune I can live with that.

I'm sure 8 bar won't give you 40 fps velocity change so your impact will be even less.

AEA  AEA HP Max - puff of air in face??

That's the one 👍

I'm wondering if, because the transfer port hole is so small (to restrict to 6/12fpe) there is excess air venting out. The hammer and valve must release way more air than can get through the tiny hole.

I know when I cock mine the bolt is flush with the reciver, so it wouldn't leave room for a plug. Maybe crystal clear gorilla tape would direct the air out the slot on the side? I use a piece of that tape on the inside face of the folding stock to take the wiggle out.

What in the hell is this, weird tumor or something on this rabbit

It had splotchy coloring like a bad camo paint job of various colored as opposites to a solid dark color. 1 other time I had found one with heavy white freckled like patterns.
@airgunner53 Good call

@ZekeZX10 Did your rabbit’s liver look strange as well?

so my upcoming videos dont get deleted

C'mon man, we dont want to see you get jammed up. In 32 seconds flat I found that you are 100% wrong. AGN will not tolerate any kind of illegal activity on the forum. If you insist on this course of action, do not be upset when you get the ban-hammer applied to your account.

FWIW - Pnuematic is AIR power, in case that is not clear. Multi clip from this document:

Hatsan  I just picked up a 30 caliber brake barrel 130s carnivore cheap but it doesn't fire break the barrel pull the trigger nothing happens looking to get

Please tell me what is a "Ghost pin" - Thank you
A ghost pin is a shortened ”temporary“ pin to hold something in place until the longer original pin can punch it out and replace the ghost pin.
The Quattro Trigger must be preset with a ghost pin inserted to hold the springs and levers in place before it‘s reinstalled. The ghost pin needs to be no longer then the trigger housing is wide. When reinstalled, the original pin pushes the ghost out and the trigger stays set.
