Yeah in the sense of this definition the gun is the horse or race car. I think it’s more of an English (UK) thing.I know we use the term "military campaign".
I don't think i've heard FT peeps celebrating victory "champaig-ning" "before" a match with a particular rifle platform.
In context i have always heard the word in FT used to reference the gun of choice for a particular person to compete with.
