Umarex  Notos - Bubbles on regulator, and other questions

Hey Everyone!

So I did something kind of stupid and had to tear my Notos down. I have some questions
  • When i removed the air tube I noticed there were bubbles (see pic), should this be a concern? I removed the regulator and the air tube seemed dry, just lubed.
  • There is a lot of oil/lube on this thing, should I wipe it off and reapply? If yes what kind of lube/oil should I use?
  • I was attempting to turn down the regulator while I had it out to get more shots. The nut holding the adjustment screw in place seem really really tight, is that normal? Should I just try to man handle it to break it lose?
  • While I have it apart, is there any maintenance I should do or clean up? I don't really need more power, and this thing is only 2 weeks old brand new...
Also noticed that one of the barrel o rings are nicked, so might as well order a c88 plenum kit to get more air and a thread on this thing since I destroyed the moderator...

Thank you in advanced!

RAW's Cameron Kerndt Takes Gold in Long-Range at Oregon Competition

Similar but different.
I used to belong to the Varmint Hunter’s Association. The monthly rag would print photos of shots on prairie dogs taken from allegedly extreme ranges. 600, 800, 1000, etc., and, in one exaggerated claim, 2700 yards on a windless day in southern Nevada…
While I would never call someone a liar on a public forum, I do consider myself a very serious rifleman even at the advanced age of soon to be 80. I have shot prairie dogs at 400-500 yards in Wyoming with my trusty .22-250. Never, and I mean never at those ranges was there a first shot hit. I have a theory about some of these long range hits on prairie rats:

Lou and Chuck are patrolling the prairie dog country and spot a likely town. They place an orange traffic cone in the middle of it and retreat to hillside 600-1000 yards away and start blasting at the cone. After a couple hundred rounds (none of which has hit the cone, btw) they drive back and see if any dogs accidentally stood in front of a speeding bullet. If they find one, a photo and story is produced!

Here on this forum a good friend of mine says he routinely splits playing cards at 200 yards with his air rifle. You and I both know he cannot even see a playing card on edge at 200 yards, regardless of the scope used. What he has is the playing seated on edge placed in front of a large black circle within which he places his crosshairs. Every now and then he strikes a card..

So, have your discussions but remember we take it all with a grain (maybe a few grains) of salt!🤣

N/A  A PCP Day

It’s Pelletfest at my sisters today. Whole family shooting. Lo and behold the only gun to fail, a FX. A frustrated shooter caused me to do a chronograph check. Then the gauges confirmed blown reg. Gun is following bottle pressure. It’s PCP life. Always have backup guns and air sources if you can.

New Scope or Not (Hawke vs Athlon)

I looked up the specs for the Heras 6x24 SFP & FFP and saw the SFP is calibrated to 16X, which is perfect for HFT-US. So, the SFP makes sense over the FFP for dedicated HFT gun. The FFP was only $25 more than the SFP on amazon.

Right, now I am using a Hawke Sidewinder 8x32 SFP SR Pro, and I would prefer to go to a MOA or MIL tree reticle. Which is why this thread has my attention.

My eyes are not young, and bigger markings are better for me now. Which is why I prefer FFP if it works to give a bigger reticle picture for me.

EDIT: Added bad eyes
I have this Heras SPR 6-24x56 scope in both FFP and SFP and when set at 16x I can’t discern any difference in the reticle size.
For the SFP I Recommend a 6” round magnetic parallax wheel to get 120 degrees spread on the wheel while the FFP will only get 110 degrees

AEA  50 cal Harpoon Vs Harpoon Magnum Slug Holders

I have the AEA Harpoon 50 cal, shorty barrel. I use the Texoma steel slug holders instead of the stock plastic collars.

My question is, do these slug holders also fit the magnum cartridges?

If so, I would like to add the 11" 72 ga magnum barrels/cartridges kit with some shot shells and arrows.
Suggestions would be appreciated...

Steve
Sorry, I have not been on the forum in months. The answer is absolutely, there were no design changes for the inserts.

Thanks, Jim

AEA  Megalodon .50cal - intriguing, but flawed?

Since it was first announced, i was intrigued by the MEG and really excited to see what it will be.
top or flop? now after quite a while it has been out there, i feel like there is a lot of fluffing of that gun going on, besides the really annoying flaw of a scraping bolt handle on a mechanically crappy designed part of the 1000+$/€ gun. ( as discussed in other threads.)

i have had it in virtual shopping baskets many times, including molds/sizers for ammo, but in total i just seems to be too expensive. and thinking that one might also want to have a working moderator for non-alarming target practice and set-up, it just gets too much (for me at least).

i wonder if people think it is worth it?
and i also wonder if it is realistic, that in the future the concept will be improved or will AEA, just blast out completely new designs?
(just saw that there is some kind of smaller sibling in the works.)

Diana  Diana 25 branded Gecado but with Hy-score Medallion too?

It's fascinating (well to a nerd like me anyhow) to track the small changes on these! Another characteristic of the earlierst postwar 27's, including my older H-S one, is the rather slab-sided butt, and somewhat angular ridges above the grip as you can see in my first photo above. Later 27's are more rounded and hand-friendly.

Does your model 25 have "Mod. 801" stamped under the stock medallion?

It's odd to me that most (all?) H-S model 27's are in .22 cal, but their imports of the more powerful model 35 ("Hy-Score model 809") are .177.

HW/Weihrauch  Stretching a HW77 .22 to 75m

Welcome all,

I’ve achieved a major goal in my springer career. Today I was able to range my 77 out to 75m and beat up on a little 3.5” spinner plate. I would’ve tried the 2.5” plate, but I couldn’t see it haha.

Thanks for stopping by!
You are a spectacular marksman.

For fun, here's the same AG with period correct accessories from around 1984: more things change, more they remain the same?

The Gehmann 530 and similar like your have, and the older Seibert, Hensoldt, Zeiss counterparts have of course an adjustable iris device (like a Gehmann 510), and also a 1.5x magnifier (and sometimes as your's filters, typically yellow/amber and polarizers, and are very expensive).
The magnifier also functions a a weak diopter/corrective lens. If you have mild myopia sometimes the corrective lens will be sufficient and you can see the target in better resolution. Most old folks have presbyopia however, and they will need the Gehmann 510 like device.
If you need to shoot horseflies at 30 yards the 1.5X is not sufficient, and you'll need a scope, but at 10-15 yards the 530 magnifier and corrective lens may be sufficient? To do that at 75 yards suggests your a young fella with excellent vision?

Huben  Succumbed to the unrelenting pressure

Problem is they are rifle scopes ! 3 or so inches of eye clearance.
Ive got a Burris 3-12 pistol scope coming this week with an adjustable objective
9 to 22 inches of eye relief.
Im really surprised long eye relief pistol scopes are not known about
Ahh, yes. I have a pistol scope on my HW45. My bad, I convert my pistols to micro carbines so I can hit what I aim at 😁

Daystate  Blackwolf owners discussion

I have not experienced this problem, except when I got a new moderator and it was faulty, causing clipping. I think you should go over the screws and whatnot to make sure everything is tight, as you suggested.
Don’t shoot with a moderator, as I was saying the first shot is off I can shoot 10 20 30 shoot in a round no problem let it sit for 10 minutes and the same thing it might go left on the first shot and then 10 minutes after that it might drown right an 1 1/2
I can pull one of my other daystate rifles out and it will shoot a 5 shot 1/2 groups at 50 yards all day
Here is an example of my Daystate Rosso 25 caliber at 50 yards.
I have let my neighbor shoot my air guns and he doesn’t shot much his words are it not my shooting it must be the gun that shoots so well

FX  Crown Mk2 Hammer Damage question

I got damage like that on mine when I added weight, never did figure out what it was but ordered another factory oem one, removed the weight and haven’t had a problem since. I’ll see if I can dig up the thread I posted it in. Not much help I know.

Started with a Tuauto compressor and recently bought a Yong heng.
Recently bought a Reximex RPA .177. So far a great purchase

GX CS4-I Hours

@MACTEN
I'm curious about what running without the check valve accomplishes
Will you explain, please?
Also
While the valve is out do you clean it?

Thanks
Edward
With mine almost nothing comes out but a tiny bit of grease and some condensation. From my before after inspection of the cylinders, it seems grease can clog the check valves inside the cylinder causing it not to seal completely and slowing the fill. Letting it move without load seems to dislodge that grease back into the cylinder.

RAW Rapid  Shroud CF for RAW and several problems with Spanish Custom. Need help, please.

Hi friends, I need your help. More issues with the RAW. Spanish Customs has retained the carbon fiber shroud I bought from RAW USA to replace the original shroud with the integrated moderator. They are asking me to provide documentation such as a technical sheet for the carbon fiber shroud with front adapter, photos, etc., so they don't destroy it. Can anyone provide technical details of the carbon tube and/or adapter (the version without moderator), such as measurements, weight, or at least photos of the tube or shroud with the adapter—preferably not installed on the rifle? This accessory is not sold as a separate item on the website, and I can't find any photos. I’ve contacted Rachel for help, but as always, I get more responses from this forum.

Sightron S-tac ?

bbgun dont let that stop you. you can put your own numbers on it and get it right where it should be. Sightron had these on sale last month for 592 plus whatever your governor charges, I bought this model 26016. the small fov is about the only gripe. The moa illuminated reticle was what sold me. I cant see small dots on ffp scopes on low power but I can see this fine .the dark lord of optics did a review on this scope against a vortex viper pst gen II and he had the same gripe and said for the same price he would take the vortex . But then he ended by saying the stac was not a bad scope at all.
