CST Tactical Titanium Custom Rapid ca 2010

Pulled this one out today after almost 10 years in the safe. Still holding air, and still the most amazing custom rifle I've ever held or owned. Solid titanium block receiver. Every part is custom built, down to the most incredible trigger you've ever felt on an airgun. Not sure if Chip Smith is still airgunning, but he was an artist like no other.

Results  DeSoto Airgunners (FL) FT Match Report for May 11, 2025

Posted by Gary P. for our Field Target match director, Ron Z.

5-11-25 Field Target
1x1.gif

Mothers Day Match at DeSoto Gun Club brought out 13 shooters. No moms showed for the event this year but everyone agreed today's course was a mother!

Troyer Factor difficulty wasn't calculated but low scores and frustrating misses had even our most seasoned shooters confirming the course layout and wind conditions presented an elevated challenge. No individual cleaned the Standing Lane while 3 shooters cleaned the Kneeling Lane. Winds were a definite factor especially on the longer shots. Lane two was particularly humbling today with the majority of shooters scoring well under 50% on that lane. Only Cliff and Wayne scored 5 of the 6 possible points on that difficult lane with targets out to 50 yards.

Conditions were shirt sleeve comfortable under a cloudy sky. No precip was forecast but a very light sprinkle quickly blew through the venue. Barely noticed, it was gone in a few minutes leaving bright overcast conditions throughout most of the event.

TOP GUN Honors go to Ron G (Open div) AND to Wayne R (Hunter div). Both shooters achieved event high scores of 39 points. I believe it's the first time we've had an inter-divisional tie for Top Gun recognition.

Our group was joined by Paul C, a relative newcomer to the Field Target game. Paul finished fourth among the nine competitors in Hunter Division. Lindsay was the only Piston shooter in today's match.

June is the official start of hurricane season in Florida and as seasonal temps and humidity climb to more uncomfortable levels we shift from Field Target activities to Benchrest competitions. Our next shoot- June 8th - marks the start of another Summer Swelter Benchrest Series with DeSoto Airgunners. Precision meets Perspiration in this demanding game of millimeter accuracy.

Shout-Outs and Thanks to All Participants - Your help and friendly sportsmanship continue to make our airgunning activities at the DeSoto Gun Club a safe and enjoyable experience.

New bigbore

MY friend for a while driving a 1985 Dodge ram charger ( dont ask me why )
Well it was not on stock wheels, and the MPH thing is not compatible with Denmark.
So he used a Garmin NAV unit as speedo in it, mind you some times that would kick out speeds that i think the dodge would not even attain if it was dropped from a plane at great height.

...so now I'm pondering what the terminal velocity of a dodge truck is 🤔

I like this:
*** Old age is not total misery. Experience helps. *** 😁

And I'd reply with:
While growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. 😉

Cheers!

FX  DRS slow leak?

Are you his rep?

That's not been my experience with FX and I own 6 right now. I would call Utah Airguns and explain the situation or track down who you bought it from. It's not even been out 3 years since that airgun hit the market.
Are you UA’s, they can be difficult. I offered another legit warranty center. Apparently his experience was not free and $400 was the price.

Things have changed from when FX USA would just give out parts even after the warranty.

Why don’t you call and ask what is needed for a non original owner of a rifle less than 3 years in service.

Airgun Capital Moderator .22

Hi,

Yeah, the distance is somewhat one letter size away on official measurements. There is another test coming where I test it that way. I have done the same tests on my other moderators, so don't want to break the pattern. I feel that having the measurement that distance away is better to understand hearing rappor wise, because it shows bigger difference. Close up the db reading is much higher and people might thing that it does not do that much really. Its a bit of a compromise to measure that way, but better to understand at least for me.
I will say it does make a big difference. Testing my rifles shot, if I place my device next to the gun it’s about 25db higher than putting it 3ft away.

Air Venturi  Avenge X .22 magazine issue

I had the same experience with Marauder and the Bug Buster scope. Pyramid sold me some higher scope mounts. All good now.
The scope height is good for her so will continue with the smaller mags once I get some that work.. It's the small magazine that came with the new gun that's the issue.

Sell and Ship Air Gun Parts Internationally from the US?

so, the grips are just parts and that is all that need to be said if that
and know PA ships to the UK with no problem and i mean air pistols, i read and post on UK for and the replica guy show them off
shipping will be interesting it appears Krale in the Netherlands uses UPS
Chambers and Knibbs and Protek use the UK mail system which goes into our mail system
i would think small packages either bag or box would be best in the USPS
you would declare an amount at least that is what they do in the UK
i see many Ebay seller ship around the world
now reality it will not be cheap and you will have to know the cost before the sale so everyone is on the same page and or so you don't lose your A$$ saying the wrong as in too low of amount

Low velocity expansion of hunting pellets

I don't often shoot "hunting pellets" but metal mags expand from my Prod which can't get them going 700 fps. Reduces penetration a lot so I just use domed for squirrels.
Was looking for an extremely backyard friendly, cheap, low power .22 with a focus on "QUIET" for chipmunks/squirrels/Sparrow/Starling within 30 yards. H&N FTT 14.66 and Crosman Premier Domed impact approximately 1MOA higher than the Polymags, so they'll be an option as well. the Field target trophy gave me a roughly nickel sized hole through 40 shots from a Gamo arrow.

I bought a Beeman Chief 2 .22 and a Gamo Arrow, . Surprisingly the Arrow came out on top. Very nearly silent, 40 shots+ from a tiny cylinder, shockingly small spread, and beyond satisfactory accuracy in a Short, seemingly weightless package. Sent the Chief 2+ back this morning.

Trial By Fire....

THANK YOU for the link.
Buying several tins, on tin each, of which I probably won't shoot more than 20 pellets really did not appeal to me.

But buying a sampler is great! 👍🏼

So, I already ordered one!

Incognito Backstop?

I use old rugs for a backstop,in front of the rugs I place cardboard and tape my target to.There is a 8-10" gap between the cardboard and the rugs. Now since I have to make sure it is dead quieted I going to put sides around it....my backstop is 3ft by about 5ft.
I have plywood behind the rugs, fact is a use mulit rugs and it is safe.

Benjamin  Measured noise for native PCP rifles

I dropped a couple of sparrows last weekend with my .177 cal Marauder. From where I sat, the pellet impact was alarmingly loud compared to the report of the gun. All I heard was a soft *ping* from the gun. Makes it my go-to gun for morning coffee in the garden.
I have to turn the power way down on my .177 cal DreamTac to be as quiet, and it still needs a moderator as the shroud provides no "hush" at all. Best I've found so far is a BuckRail modular modertor. I won't tell you it is quieter than anything else, but it's as good as my DonnyFL Tanto. But it does change the way the shot sounds. More like dropping a 2x4 on the floor.

Crosman full auto DPMS

When they started selling these rifles they were over $250.00 and came with a tool to load the magazines.
When Crosman decided to not include the magazines, they lowered the price on those with the magazine loader to $100.00 to get rid of them.
I bought two.
One for me and one for my buddy.
They work great for us and they load and shoot as advertised.
There is a dude on YouTube from Canada that has improved the performance of these rifles.
My videos are above on post #2..

N/A  Pistol sling

ready for what
i believe a practiced Weaver Stance would do the job just as well
less chance of you getting all tied up
The point is to replicate the stabilizing effect of a stock without actually adding the bulk, weight or attachment points necessary for a stock. A Weaver stance may be excellent for defensive pistol shooting, but it can't match the stability of a weapon with a stock. It's also not a method you would typically use from a sitting or kneeling position or even with a large pistol like a prod.

Taipan  Just got a KILLER set up done for Night pesting or even Daytime sub 75y schwhackin !!!

Thanks, totally missed it in that format.
Nice kits Scott!
I have that same Pard with the range finder. I like it a lot. It’s great that you got a good deal on it, I bought mine when they first came out, it was $1000. It makes regular scopes seem like old tech.

Hunter Whitehead

Fill Station Valves

I'm going to buy the 3 liter Tuxing tank and the two gauge valve with the added fill fitting. The extra gauge is not needed and the added fill fitting remains an unknown quantity but, what the heck have I got to lose - and I might learn something.

JackHughs
I just put one on my 3l. I like 'em in part because they're easy to throttle your fill rate...
