Taipan  Five years on...

Know what you mean, Shroom!
Going on 7 years since my first taste of sweet Taipan nectar.
Down to 'just' three shorties - two in .22 and one in .25 and they're not going anywhere!
Here's a post from 2018 when I received my 1st Vet.

AEA  Bintac s45 .357

Just sighting in my new bintac s45 in 357. 13 inch barrel. It's making around 175 ft lbs. This rifle kicks hard it's a blast to shoot. I upgraded to a 580cc carbon fiber front tank. View attachment 549097View attachment 549096

Hatsan  Should I modify a new pcp air rifle and if so which one?

Kwit there is nothing wrong with your ambition to modify airguns. Here’s a few tips to help you along your journey:

1) First and foremost, ALWAYS release all the air from any PCP gun you’re working on. Whether it’s just removing the barrel or modifying the valve.

2) Since you have a tinkering mentality I would suggest disassembling your first PCP gun so you better understand how everything works. You may damage an o-ring in the process but this should not discourage you. It will teach you how to find leaks and change o-rings.

3) A great gun to learn about airguns is the Crosman 2240. It’s a co2 pistol, not pcp, but it is very similar to how a PCP gun functions. It can be modified for more power, shot count, made into a rifle, and even converted into a PCP. It’s cheap ($60), has many aftermarket parts available, and it will teach you the fundamentals. It’s how I learned.

4) As you get older make sure to do plenty of exercise to combat the decreasing testosterone. Unfortunately many men don’t do this and it shows. It will allow to be strong enough to cock a springer into your older years.

Good luck buddy!

Tuning  Tuning a spring piston?

Yes, but I would be very careful messing with the Transfer Port 👻.
Unless you really understand what you‘re doing …. too big and the gun is ruined, unless you spend a great deal of time fixing. 99% of folks should leave it alone✌️.

100% agree and rarely needed unless youre playing with older springers with a low SCR, but.....it is a thing, so made it in at stage 3 😁

Umarex  Umarex Emerge .177: o-ring specs?

So this is my first airgun of any kind, coming from a couple years of skeet and rifle shooting.

Bought a new Umarex Emerge in .177 for plinking at the local range... and could not get it zeroed.

After a couple weekends, some searching, and education on airguns, I realized that there's some kind of leak. Pellets are dropping now (after initially having some decent power)
I've since figured out that it's missing at least one o-ring (Umarex customer service ticket has been started)

This would explain the random o-ring and (maybe) what looks like a spring clip on the floor in the shop... but I don't see how this one fits in either the breech or the piston port-thing.

Searching on "Umarex Emerge o-rings" yields results for other model o-rings, but it seems like this Emerge is a ghost.
This is the 12 shot magazine model... and the owners manual casually mentions the o-rings at the breech and piston (basically on each side of the magazine) but DOESN'T SAY WHAT SIZE THEY ARE.

So looking for help on o-ring size for this thing, and any other documents beyond the regular owners manual.

The found o-ring, clip, and breech/pitson ports are shown for clarity. The o-ring seems too big for the breech (OD too big) and the clip doesn't seem appropriate for that part. In the piston port, the r-ring and clip are a bit small.

Thanks

AEA  Aea megalodon. 58 cal. Best accuracy so far !

That thing is a hammer! Nice power and accuracy. What barrel length? I'm not sure how the mags fit on the megladon? A little trick I do with all my AEA mags especially the semi autos is a layer of clear gorilla tape on the back face of the mags, then trim off the extra with an exacto knife. Wipe with alcohol or lacquer thinner first to clean the surface. I do one or 2 layers depending on how snug I want it. Same for the folding stock if applicable, 1 layer makes that fit without rattle.
Definitely! It's the 22inch barrel. There's a 15" as well. I appreciate the tips on the mags! I have noticed that on some. luckily this ones pretty snug.

The .35 Yokozuna moderator for my .30 cal Red Panda is too loud. Need recommendations

I can attest to the length increase on the .457 Texan as I also have an extenson with the Emporer. This rifle is SUPER long. Almost reach out and just poke the target insted of shooting it.
LOL not a bullpup for sure! Even with the airforce lss setup it's still like pointing a javelin :D I have gotten used to shooting it from my trigger stick, but no go for real brushy Dence cover.

Airgun Technologies  Uragan 2 600mm vs vulcan 3 700 mm cal .22

im going to say Uragan 3 :) Mine (600mm) arrived with reg at around 100bar, shooting 22gr 895fps and 18gr at 955, both with 1.1-1.2 SD and ES <5. Didn’t touch the reg yet, only fine adjusted hammer so the only slug I tried so far is HN 21gr going 899. All three crazy accurate, maybe my most accurate .22 out of all I have (Ghost, Red Wolf, Wildcat, Dreamline, DRS and others, all of which I’d consider very accurate with their preferred tune and pellet/slug)…

Brocock/BRK  Brocock pistol

so they also used to have a multiple cartridge filling adapter, and I think it would work with a tank or compressor.. I'll try to attach a picture from the brochure I have..
I also used to have the brocock 522 pistol, very similar to yours but 22 caliber

Seeking super sharp glass

JungleShooter is correct about the main advantage and disadvantage jumping from 34 to 40 in my experience. People get confused about what they need for what they want to see. Here is a personal example. I have a c.f. bench rifle with a SVED Sightron with 34 mm tube, 60 mm front objective and power that goes up to 50. Brightest, clearest scope I have ever looked through. I have a pair of them. At 400 and 500 yards, 90 % of the time I can see 6mm bullet holes. The dual focas/ parallel knobs put them into a class by themselves in my opinion. But nearing 78 I have realized those 400 and 500 Yard holes are harder and harder to see. So last fall I put a NF Comp on my one rifle. Not as bright, really miss the dual f/p knob especially when the mirage is running. BUT that 5 extra power makes those bullet holes jump out at me. Picture is not as pretty but it is more efficient for my major need, seeing 500 yard 6mm bullet holes. Decide what you need then start looking through glass to see what fulfills that need the best. Price is not the answer as I see tons of March scopes being resold. Doesn't mean they are bad but that they did not fulfill the need in spite of the premium price.

Daisy  CO2 200 Daisy gas pistol

I came across a Daisy co2 200 semi auto gas pistol .
I was wondering if I could find out more information on it. How old it is and if has any vintage value. View attachment 549000View attachment 548995View attachment 548996View attachment 548997View attachment 548999View attachment 548998View attachment 549003

I know they were built as far back as the early 1970s, as I had one. Fun pistol, but the seals are prone to go out pretty quickly. I understand that reseal kits are available. Maybe Baker Airguns? I don't think they have a big following like the Crosmans. Saw one on another forum a few months ago for $50-60. But they probably go for a bit more in good, working condition.

N/A  What PCP tunes for specific situations?

I have 5fpe carbines for close pests where I need to be careful about the travel of the pellet incase of a situation out of my control. I have guns that produce several hundred FPE for big game. Tuned precision pellet only guns for competition built around the specific rules for that style. Plinking guns set up for tons of shots a fill. So many reasons for so many different times. Also used to justify getting a new toy.

Best quality .177 rifle pellets?

Which pellets shoot most accurately in any given rifle is a different question in my mind than which are the highest quality pellet. I've measured weights and head sizes for several 177 pellets and the H&N Baracuda Match are more consistent than the H&N Baracuda and Baracuda Power Power and JSB 10.34. The Baracuda FT seem more consistent than the Match but I have not measured as many. So I think the Match and FTs are higher quality. But that does not mean your gun will shoot them well.
It goes without saying that good quality doesn’t always equal good results but if you start with poor quality I’ve never seen excellent results. The reason I ask is I’m familiar with center fire brands and .22lr brands but didn’t know who made quality pellets to try. So far the same companies that produce quality.22lr ammunition have produced the best results out of my Feinwerkbau. It might be expected since RWS and Eley are both Olympic ammunition producers for.22 lr and produce very high quality products.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

Benjamin  Fun With A Benjamin Kratos

I believe the tune kit from AR would shift your "sweet spot" down considerably. It includes a hammer spring, and a valve spring. If you use pellets over 16g, he says to omit the valve spring, which makes it a 10 minute install. 80 shots at 880fps with 14.3 Premiers!

Shortening the stock hammer spring can also give good results. It did wonders for my Akela.

AEA  AEA Terminator 30 caliber 1050cc of air

For anyone out there looking to try a 30 caliber PCP, I would suggest the AEA Terminator modified by BinTac. I got one that has the front tank swapped out for a 700cc tank and the rear stock is replaced by a 350cc tank, which can be up to 500cc. I am running 1050cc of air currently. I was able to get a strap 3d printed that goes around the front tank and barrel that has attachment points all the way around. I also got a moderator 3d printed for it. It shoots over 1000fps. The only down side is that magazines seem rather scarce. The last thing is to believe it when they say that this gun does not like slugs, don't do it. However, just about any 40-50 grain domed pellet works great. View attachment 548966
Local raccoon population is not a fan of Terminator .30. Have not seen one in over 6 months.

Mine, Bintac also, has the 500cc tube and 350cc tube.
