AEA 45 gr Pellets

As you are aware, the 45 gr AEA pellets are sold out in the USA. I just received my order from AEA Airguns within a week and free shipping! So they are the same price as the USA.

'Best' budget .25 pellets?

That works out to be 16 bucks for 300 same as FX pellets from Trenier
I've tested JSB, AEA, FX, JTS and a few others.
I find the H&N Barracuda to be the one that works well in ALL of my guns. JTS being a close 2nd. The JSB/FX were very average. AEA were inconsistent.

I look for consistency with all my guns. H&N seems to do that well. Barracuda Match and 18 in my .22.

Zan in my .30.

Spanish vs US made .22 CPHPs

I think Walmart's website has a price of $14.99 and I am sure Amazon is asking that much but it is a delivered price. I am sure they used to cost less but I think $8 is actually a good price these days. If they still have some next time I am at that Walmart I will probably buy a few more. I would not buy Crosmans for $15 in today's market, I've seen JSB 18s for that much but if I can get them for $8 I'm interested. If I could find them for $6 I'd really stock up. But for serious target work I will have to either sort them or just switch to JSBs (or FX).

Other  Webley Tempest shoots high

Why not just file down the top of the rear sight? I just checked mine and there was plenty of room to work with even if the sight was bottomed out. Alternatively, you might be able to increase the length of the adjustment slot or modify the area on the rear sight blade where it hits the stop screw at the rear of the gun.

Dessicant

@AlanMcD
Thank you again for the thorough explanation! I'm still new to the PCP game and assumed "shoebox" referred to the small cheap Chinese compressors as well (which is what I have). Learned a few new things today!
You are welcome. I think the best way to differentiate them is by capitalizing Tom Kaye's version (as a proper noun, I guess) and not capitalize the class of compressors . . . personally I'm not that invested in the differentiation but lots of other Shoebox owners are - I think because the quality of design execution is so much different (and maybe also because the early cheap crap from China is what drove Tom to shut down his company because he ended up losing money just to sell off his inventory).

Like in many things, in HPA we get to pick two of the three attributes : Cheap, Fast, and Good (in this case, typically meaning reliable over the long term). The Shoebox was the first one (and maybe the only one) that offered the first and third item, but as a fully USA made product it could not compete with what came from China, even it was more reliable - most of the current crop of Chinese shoebox compressors are the first and second one. Some of the GX pumps look to be offering more of the third; time will tell.

I think one of the keys is that it is very hard on the machine to get to 4500 psi with just two stages, and that is what most of the cheap units try to do - doing so takes compression ratios of 17:1 on the two stages, and that is diesel engine territory there; three stages takes under 7:1 to get there, thus it is much easier to do so robustly . . . so if you want a two stage unit to last, don't run it that high - only use it for lower direct fills of gun

Daystate  Daystate BLACK Wolf (Full Review) Video

In my opinion that wasn’t the problem in the video. I think it was more of just a mismatch of valve pressure and hammer strike. I suspect the velocity on the 33.95 pellets would have continued to increase beyond a hammer setting of 12 which is what I believe he was on for the video . From the video it appears to me the 28” barrel is suited for heavy slugs in the given caliber. Hopefully the barrel is matched to that or this particular configuration misses the target big time. I personally don’t get the hype here at all. There is no electro mojo magic going on in there. I just cannot see 4k in this gun it’s silly. FX king with a really nice fancy stock is waaaaaay less and let’s be real the tech is on the same plane here. To each their own though.
Yes, I agree about the hammer spring. I was thinking about it later and there was definatley a HORRIBLE relationship between the hammer spring and the reg pressure. If a good balance gives you a low standard deviation, then this was doing the opposite for sure. I need to drop the white spring in and then from there, get to tuning.

Compressor

These the ones for 100-200$? How often are you using it and what sort of duty cycle.
I use mine on an average of once or twice a week to top off my SCBA tanks. I rarely run it more than 15 minutes because I rarely let my tanks get below 3,000psi. Hottest the compressor ever gets is 55C. I have yet to see a Yong Heng for $100-200. They're usually closer to $300.

RTI  RTI Mora, I want MORE-My Mora II wish list

To add to the wishlist of the Mora. Being able to swap the cocking lever to the right.

In the current version of the Mora, a lot of mentioned drawbacks have already being addressed.
- shorter cocking lever
- complete new design dwellvalve and knob
- ability to adjust the scope rail forward and backward.
- new design barrel nut.

Exploded views and manual are available on the RTI website. The manual recently had a update.

Shooting backstop

Nice setup! mine is split into 3, main backstop is 10-30 yards away 6 feet wide, diagonal I can get 45 yards and down the side deck of my uncle's house into the back corner makes 65 yards if I'm lucky .long island ny in suburbia very difficult. Been using alot of fruit targets on my youtube channel ,some tomato cans and some steel to shoot holes in .also have my xbow bag on the main part as well. Youtube @new sentry arms. The backstop is on there take a look .any suggestions let me know

Let us not forget June 6th

Cool pic of your dad. Mine too was in the Nave from '39-45, He was a Chief EM but we never were able to find out exactly where he was much of the time. He was in Pearl during the bombing, as he told us about that before his passing.

Salute to all of those Greatest Generation!

Taipan  Type 1 Veteran .177...Thoughts/First Shoot.

This is the sixth Taipan I had the "pleasure" of owning, and every single one had been a stellar performer. Sold a "long" years ago simply because of weight and I'm not a big bench shooter plus another member wanted it. In the last year I've been working with (enjoying) a .22 Mutant standard and more recently a Veteran compact .22...Both of these examples have just WOWed me...(all my Taipans have), I posted groups and my feelings on other threads. Me being a classifieds "hawk" this .177 was only posted for minutes, and I sic'ed my buddy on it, (a recient Veteran convert by me) he bought it immediately, after the dust cleared I begged it off him...cost me the .22 compact...not given up lightly...and the .177 was shipped to me. This .177 has the older "shinny" anodizing that I really like, I polished it with polishing compound and it looks like black chrome, I have a standard .22 just like it all polished up. I've shot it twice so far....177s are tricky at the best of times...wind...and I've read mixed reviews on .177 Taipans...has been very horrible humid and breezy if not windy here in North Florida but I've seen enough and I'm not worried...the 10.34s and 13.43s did ok initially and H&N 10.65 did ok. No crony work yet but it's penciled in....This one is going to be interesting. In addition, I have another .177 standard being boxed up to be shipped to me...so, I'll be getting a lot of experience with Taipan .177s...have a ton of pellets so that's a good thing...The posted group was shot at 37 yards in not the best conditions...the second shoot was over all better but still windy. Trigger, function fit and finish are Taipan through and through...Was shipped with a red laminated stock...without a Pic rail drilled into the stock, hate that, but I put that in storage and put a Ukrainian wood stock on it...pares well with the shinny anodizing. More to come with this one!

Crossman 760, so disappointing.

Hello All,
I recently decided it was a good time to introduce my 8 yr old daughter to shooting. Great time to teach safety, more safety, and some shooting basics.
When I was about her age (granted it was 40+ years ago), I got the Crossman 760 Pumpmaster. I loved it. My Gpap taught me everything. I had it for 10+ years when it finally gave out. I couldn't think of a better way to introduce my daughter than to get that same rifle.
Disappointment is a major understatement. The thing is $40 so it is what it is, but compared to the one I had really isn't even a comparison.
Beyond just the general flimsy feel there are problems that really are awful. Thought I'd list just a few:
The barrel itself can turn/twist +/- 60°, putting the sights near sideways.
The pump handle being completely light plastic feels like it'll break any second.
The bolt/ breach are a little misaligned meaning you need to shove it into place.
Like I said, I didn't expect much but I'd like to at least think it'll last during this early beginner time. The old ones had a metal handle and linkage to pump. That's my biggest issue here. It takes more force now as the handle is short, less leverage. Guaranteed it'll break.

Oh well, things get cheap and corners cut over time. Stay profitable, compete, etc I get it. Mostly it's just me. Memories of this thing are some of my best as a kid at my GPa's house. I want to share that with my daughter but this isn't going to do it.
I'm wondering if I should just grab the Red Ryder and go from there 😊.
Thanks for listening, mostly I just had to vent. That said, I'm definitely open to suggestions of what might be a solid choice for her.
All the best.....
The Daisy 880 is what the 760 should be – metal pump, solid barrel, and $60. Perfect trainer for kids. My daughter’s had hers 3 years with zero issues.

Record distance for me

Last night i got me record long distance on rabbit. The gun vulcan 3hp .30. The slug 59gr zan. The scope dnt tnc 225r. I am a right hand shooter. Right shoulder right eye. The shot was in the dark and left handed shot left shoulder left eye right trigger finger. Was out my office window shooting way to my right hence my boady to gun position all jacked up. The distance was 174 yards ranged with scope. Wind was calmish. So overall im happy and hopefully everyone has good shooting today
Switch hitting 174 yards is NOTHING to sneeze at. Very well done!
