There are lighter pellets than 44.75gn !

So your saying you generating 55 ft lbs with 37 grain pellets. 🤔

I’d have to see that to confirm it.
Yep, 54.9fpe out of a break barrel hatsan 130S and 135QE .30, with hatsans new 160 BAR gas piston. Both 30's have been gone through for friction reduction, barrel lapping, Crown re-cut, pellet port modification and on the .30's the moderator internals have been modified and so has the barrel shroud, that's just with the 10.6" barrel, If the barrel was 17.7" like the 125 .25 the 45gn .30 pellets would come out at around 820fps/67fpe and the 37gn would be about 925fps/70fpe, yet, as it stands 45gn at 724fps has 30.4fpe at 100Yds., 37gn is 32fpe. -- I haven't done the pellet 'splash' test (Flowering) with the 37gn Alloy pellets because they are $35.99 for 154 of them, P.A. has them at almost double that price, here is a picture of what my .30's did to 4 pellets fired into 2" thick steel for effect, they 'splashed', came apart instead of turning into the pellets that 'flowered'. N/A  Marauder vs HM 1000x First PCP

Hello to all,

I am new to the PCP world and have already acquired a compressor. For the last three months I have been shooting a GAMO swarm viper out to about 50 yards. I had no idea how much I would enjoy this sport! I can shoot PB on my property but being able to sit inside next to my wife and talk to her while shooting has been a top notch 10/10 experience. Not to mention shooting an air rifle is much cleaner than a PB! Also, worth mentioning how much quieter it is.

That being said my GAMO break barrel is starting to diesel... I think... I typically will have a fairly long shooting session on the weekends. about 150-400 pellets in one sitting. However, lately if I'm shooting my GAMO a lot it starts to..diesel? smokes.. smells.. I set it down for a while and let it "cool off" and it'll shoot fine again for another 10-15 shots. That being said I've come to the conclusion that I want more accuracy out of my rifle. Which has led me to the PCP rabbit hole.

I typically bench rest shoot and would like something capable of shooting 100 yards fairly consistently. I THINK I want to be able to shoot slugs too. Reason being is that I live in Illinois out in the corn fields and the wind here is relentless. Shooting out of my GAMO I'm shooting 11.75 gr predator GTO pellets and the wind tosses them around a lot. It doesn't stop me from shooting though but between the springer being hold sensitive and the wind it can be frustrating.

SO I am in a bit of a dilemma.. I currently have $800 saved for a PCP air rifle. I would like to stay local as far as branding for fear of not being able to receive parts should I need them (USA)

OPTION 1: Benjamin Marauder
I really like this because of the price point and legacy. My buddy who got me into this sport has two P-rods he has built with CF bottles and completely transformed it into a work of art.
However, I like the traditional wood stock rifle look.

Pros:
good parts service/aftermarket availability
price
nice wood stock
accuracy
Quiet!
good trigger (better than my GAMO)
adjustable cheek riser

Cons:
I think this is the biggest for me. SHOT COUNT seems TERRIBLE and I can't find the parts for a bottle conversion...
a 20-30 shot count is a killer for me. the field and target model seems great with 80-90 shot per fill but I'm worried that you're trading shot count for power... so would the field and target just be a pea shooter? How would that affect it at say 100 yards...would the field and target be capable of shooting slugs? Or does it lack the power...
not regulated (unless field and target or I regulate it myself)

OPTION 2: RAW hm 1000x
This seems to just check all my boxes and is just a beautiful looking rifle. Not to mention USA made as well.

Pros:
nice wood/laminate stock
seems to be more accurate on reviews than m rod
more FPE
more fps
Good trigger
I believe it's slug capable?
local and from my understanding RAW is a great company to get in contact with.
Regulated
higher shot count 50-60

Cons:
Price. Is it too much air rifle for my needs? maybe a little pesting but nothing my current GAMO couldn't handle. mostly shooting paper, spinners, etc.

no cheek riser unless you go for the tactical chassis

I've heard it's relatively loud. which would mean the Mrs. would kick me outside with it lol. I have seen you can attach a donny fl silencer to it. I do prefer the look of the non shrouded version but have seen the pressed on threads come off on a review while shooting it and that has REALLY made me question whether or not it's worth it. But if it has to be shrouded so be it. still a nice rifle.

BONUS Daystate Wolverine R HP in either .177 or .22
I know it's across the pond but the price is just right. great shot count and power. I would love to shoot .177 seems you can get so much more ammo per dollar but I have a feeling the winds out here would really break my heart :( how is it dealing with parts and service from daystate? they seem to have reasonable reputation.

I know I could get more of a mid range like the avenger x but I try to stay clear of Chinese products with my hobbies. I am also a huge knife nut and only buy American made knives. I just don't get the same satisfaction buying Chinese goods. (I'm not saying they can't make a great product)

I'm open to any suggestions and advice anyone could give on the matter or any other rifles that I could be overlooking. Thank you!
The RAW is the best choice especially with a moderator - check classifieds for used

HW/Weihrauch  New look for an old friend.

After 3 + days of rain (6+") the sun finally came out today and I finally got to play with my Baby BB gun. Had a blast knocking a Gatorade bottle 40 yards up the driveway. Almost couldn't miss. Started aiming for the orange cap and I blew it off. Then I started knocking that up the drive. Then I made the mistake of trying for my smallest pistol plate. I hit the belted rubber hanger and the pellet came whizzing back and hit the house hard. Luckily it missed the windows. I won't try that again.
Your gonna shoot your eye out!

I need a Red Panda .30 slug tune for 75-78 grain boat tail slugs for long distance 200 yards

I have tried 9 different slug weights with 3 different optional hammer weights and 2 different hammer springs. When you add several different #2 regulator settings and hammer adjustments, IT"S A LOT of testing! And still I decided what .30 cal slug tune is best. For the 200 yard card splitting, I used the following tune. 76 grain boat tail Rouge Precision slugs, #2 regulator 2900 psi, hammer adjustment (center mark), 950 FPS, 90 grain hammer with the optional heavy hammer spring. The stock hammer that comes with the .30 cal slug version has a 70 grain hammer and stock spring. The optional hammers are 90 and 123 grains and a heavy hammer spring. I hope this helps. Please post your best .30 cal setting to share?

Than ks to Bryan W, Mike B, and everyone else that helped.

It was my first shoot and I think LRFT is a "HOOT"! LOL!

Match was not too difficult and it was very enjoyable. It also helped that winds were light. In that range winds can de devilishly hard to read.
In many ways it reminded me of BPCR shooting where you let go of the shot and you can count the seconds till the projectile gets there, LOL!
It was also interesting to compete with top $ equipment with an AvengeX and a bargain basement scope. I do have to say that the misses were almost all mine, there was only ONE errant pellet, but that one I would attribute it to the unsorted and unlubed pellets I was using.
Some pictures for your enjoyment are posted in the AirgunWarriors forum:

Keep well and shoot straight!

FX  Officially an FX owner now.

ONE OF US, ONE OF US, ONE OF US!!! JK, honestly I shoot pellets mostly cause I don’t want to spend the time, money nerves needed to get (very good) pellet accuracy out of slugs at 75y and in. That said, I have dedicated sluggers in .177 (my only .177 lol, let’s see whether I ever try pellets), .22 and .25 just so that I also have something that’ll do great further out and or in the wind. The only gun I have that is truly great at both is my P3. And maybe the m4, but that’s because it shoots 34gr AEA as if they were slugs :)
I may try slugs at some point, but for now I'm just really enjoying how the M4 is slinging the pellets. And I'm not saying I won't try a heavier pellet in the future, but for now the 18.13 gr pellets are doing just fine. Who knows, that may fall apart at 40-50+ yards later on and I may have to tune a bit or try a different pellet weight. I've really not shot seriously past 35 yards other than testing out the data I've entered into my Kestrel 5700 against the solutions it co.es up with at known ranges. So far I'm thinking I'm going to have to play with my BC number because there's about a 3 MOA difference between what the Kestrel says to dial in at 65 yards, and what I actually have to dial in. The Kestrel is telling me to dial in 3 MOA higher than I actually need to be...if I remember right.

Can you fill past 500cc

They are really just telling you that it's for filling rifle size cylinders and not scuba or scba cylinders. 580cc are fine, it'll never know the difference.
The big concern is heat. If you run a small, rifle filling only, compressor for long periods of time it will overheat the seals an toast them. Keep your runs to less than 10-15 minutes, shorter if possible and you'll likely be fine.
I have three or four GX CS2 compressors and I fill almost everyday with one of them, only guns and the runs are less than 10 minutes. I even fill 700cc cylinders, so if the runs are short, the compressor is fine. I do try to keep my hand on the head if it's a long fill, say from empty to 700cc @ 250 bar, and give it a rest when I think it's getting hot. No problems yet.

WIKA 1” gauge

@Hobbyman2007
FWIW
I understand your desire for WIKA gauges.
If you cannot find any in 25mm the HUMA AIR gauges have worked well in my older FX rifles

Squirrel hunting

Best PCP for squirrels? Looking for a good pest gun
I got buddies that have been into PCP airguns for over 20 years so when I finally bought my first one on their information I bought a 25 caliber zelos soon I realized I wanted better I bought an fx impact M4 sniper with the 33.9 grain pallets you could do coyotes on down you get passed through on any squirrels as well as rabbits if you want to go to a lighter 25 grain then I'm told you don't get really pass-throughs on the squirrels and rabbits so you have a better choice light pellets or heavy pellets depending on your area that you're shooting in hope this helps

Air Venturi  Avenge-X reg creep

I have a similar thread. Mine was essentially unregulated. I used silicon oil on the outside and it was a bit better for a few days and now it is back to leaking all the way to bottle pressure within a few hours. I also emailed Air Venturi but no surprise. Wish I did not buy the gun. Had it for a few months and it started leaking. Sent it to them after trying to get a hold of them for a few weeks. They fixed it so it now holds air but now the regulator is creeping. My gun is now about 18 months old, very seldom used. I would guess 1/2 can of pellets through it mostly for sighing in. As you all know regulator is out of stock everywhere and frankly not sure I would buy a replacement since most report that it does the same thing. Short of Air Venturi redesigning the regulator I think this gone is now just a paperweight. On my previous thread there were some good comments on how to fully rebuilt it but I dont think I have the eyes or finger skills to deal with the tiny o rings on this.
I have thousands of rounds through my 25 cal Avenge-X at this point - had very frustrating start - didn't hold pressure well, didn't regulate well and of course, then it didn't shoot consistently - At times it would leak to about 100 bar overnight.

The regulator was one of the big hurdles - and initially, the o-ring inside the regulator (which is larger and easy to replace) was a key problem -
The factory o-ring inside turned almost square in cross section - The tiny o-ring on the stem of the regulator is harder to replace but doesn't seem to wear out like the one inside.

Now that things have settled in and the inside o-ring is running better with silicone oil, I'm getting eight shot groups the size of a nickel at 50M and speed spread for the eight shots is 1-2 FPS -

With all the other o-rings sorted, the gun will hold 300 bar for weeks -

So YES - there was initial frustration but with the inside o-ring of the regulator changed, its way better and the gun is fun to shoot -

Daystate  Thoughts on used Daystate Red Wolf

I tried that pic rail and I found that it stuck out too far in front and in order to get the scope's bell to clear you needed higher rings than desired and then the cheek rest wouldn't go high enough. It didn't work for me.

Personally I think a good set of adjustable scope mounts like the Sportsmatch ATP34 (34mm) or ATP66 (30mm) really work out well and keep the scope lower.

One accessory I will say I believe it worth every penny is the PRS Extended Arca / Picitinny Rail. It's pricey at near $300 but it'll give you multiple very solid mount points for tripod and bipod.
Snip snip or be brave with the band saw. But test mount the scope and rail before cutting it down
the weight was an issue when I added the under rail - liked it but too heavy for me
