Tuning  Decreasing Hammer Spring Increased speed???🤔

I have a pcp that shoot great with 18.3gr pellets. Less than 2/3 of an inch at 55 yards with pellets. But the projectiles I wanna shoot are slugs. Not high gr ones but 20-23gr ones because I don't wanna be shooting a motor with my 20-37ft-lb gun(no matter how I mod it, I don't get more than that and I gave up). As I was tuning for shooting slugs, I found out that my gun doesn't like shooting those slugs at high speed. So, I tried to find the highest speed I can get without getting grouping more than 2 inches at 50 yards. While I was tuning, I found out that at 1800 psi regulator set point and up, decreasing Hammer Spring results in increased speed. I found that out because I have the hammer spring tension highest while adjusting the regulator then reduce the hammer spring little by little for each regulator set point. As far as I know, normally, shouldn't the speed decrease with the hammer spring tension decrease?
I've been pondering on this one for like a week now and couldn't figure it out. So, I posted here hoping that someone would have an answer to that.

My gun specs.
18 inch 1:16 left twist barrel in 22 cal.
1800 psi is mostly the pressure I set on reg.
The air out hole on valve, I think called port, was 4.5mm but I drilled it to be 6mm.
Transfer way (the part on action block that connect the port to the transfer port behind the barrel is around 4.3mm and I cannot find a way to increase it because the hole is unreachable with a drill.
The brass transfer port is the kind with two elongated holes with a bridge between them. Total dimension of the holes should be around 6-7mm.
Using probe with small pin that push the pellets/slugs in. (Slug probe??)
My hammer has short stiff spring that reaches its normal state 6-8mm before the hammer hit the valve. I've recorded the hammer in action in slow motion and I don't see hammer bouncing between spring and valve.

  • Question
1st PCP; projectile weight questions...

I am about to drop the hammer on my 1st PCP. I'm going with an FX Panthera in .25. I haven't decided between the 6 or 700.
I have been looking at slugs and was surprised to see so many different weights available in the same product!
I know I want something heavy for my purposes, but is there any reason I shouldn't just go with the heaviest option and call it a day? Is there a "standard" or "most common" slug weight I should consider?

  • Question
Umarex  fill nozzle identification?

Hi folks,
My first post here as a guy transitioning to air propulsion from powder. A result of being under the influence of YouTube videos showing the tremendously popular undertaking of night time, air gun rat shooting in europe. I had no idea that such a thing, was, well, a thing!

Under that spell, I bought myself an Umarex Gauntlet G1 in 25 cal and installed a $1,300 thermal scope to experience my own thrill in this. With the right pellets, I have no problem putting five rounds inside of a dime at 50 yards. I've shot too many field mice to count now at night out as far as 55 yards off of a set of bipod version, Primos Trigger Sticks.

Following the learning curve of thousands and thousands before me, I've come to realize that hand pumps have to have precarious maintenance to avoid driving moisture into the workings of the rifle. I've finally come to the point where my air fill port is leaking because it has corroded enough from resident moisture I didn't know it was accumulating there. Not hard to associate, but this revelation occurred after spending a week on the Atlantic coast shooting mice... i.e. high humidity tainted with corrosive salts.

I've tried to find a fill Port replacement that meets the dimensions of the one I have that came with the rifle. It is 0.370" OD, or 3/8" diameter and looks to be a standard 3/8 TPI pattern, not a UNF or NPT or somesuch. I'm not home right now to put a thread pitch gauge on it, otherwise I would provide that.

8 mm is too small, 10 mm and 3/8 NPT are too big. Can anyone inform me what thread pattern this is and where I might find a fill port that has it?

My thanks for any help the forum Community is willing to offer.

Hatsan  Safely bleed pressure from Hatsan Jet 2 cylinders?

Does the Hastan Jet 2 have a pressure bleed screw? I bought a refurb jet 1 and then also the dual cylinders during the NRA 20% off sale. The jet one didn't leak but when I installed the dual cylinders it started losing about 80 bar/day, then more slowly as the pressure decreased. Hatsan wants me to just send it back for repair, but does anyone on the forum know how to bleed the cylinders so I can uninstall/reinstall? Any tips on the install, or guesses on why it's leaking? I mean other than the popular "it's leaking 'cause it's a Hatsan."

FX  Dynamic Express 700 in .25 just getting started

Hey fellow AGN members,
I am a long time Crown .25 pellet shooter and after my uncle gifted me with an Express, I want to start shooting slugs. First and foremost, I am a hunter and part time home range shooter. I haven't a clue what I am doing tuning for slugs. Uncle had it set @150 BAR. He had the Macro wheel set way up. I took that back to the 13 recommended setting. for starting. Been tinkering with various weights and brands of slugs. I would like input from you all on your favorite slug and settings. I would like also like two to three clips or more worth of shooting. This platform is heavy enough taking even a pony tank of air is not feasible for a long walkabout in the field or woods. I know how accurate my crown is with pellets. @ 50 yards shoot a single ragged hole. I know slugs are better suited for longer ranges but can I expect the same with slugs? Thanks,

Marty

Yong Heng Compressor Issue

I bought a yong heng compressor and was using it to fill a 68ci 4500psi ninja paintball/airsoft tank. After I shut off the compressor it makes a leaking noise until I unplug the tank and when I unplug the tank the disconnect is very stiff and makes a really loud pop, the compressor reads 3000psi but only filled the tank to around 1000. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? Also the tank is new too so I’m not sure if there’s something I was supposed to do to the tank before filling it or not. The only thing I really did to the compressor is tighten some fitting and apply Teflon tape to the air output fitting.

types of skirts in slugs

Hi, my name is Joselito, I from to Brazil.

I was doing some tests with slugs with 3 types of skirt, concave, straight and diahbase, but so far I haven't reached an exact conclusion regarding what really changes depending on the skirt.

Can someone explain to me in a more technical way if there is any change and what effects each skirt provides.

  • Question
I won a couple of bucks from a lottery ticket and it burned a hole in my pocket . . . (lol)

. . . so I bought an Eaglevision "All in one – Muzzle Brake, Air Stripper & Harmonic Barrel Tuner" - this thing:

It won't be in for probably a week or so but now I find myself asking ( and don't laugh! ) - " . . . are you supposed to connect this thing ~directly~ to the barrel, or will it just be an add-on toy at the end of the shroud like a typical moderator is?"

I don't even know what gun I'm going to try / test it out on yet - but yeah - that question above. Do any of you guys in here use one (or something similar)? Do you have it directly threaded to the end of the barrel or is it in fact hanging off the end of the shroud? Just curious.

JTS  Jts airicuda standard problems

Hi is there anybody out there that could possibly help me out with understanding why when I start filling my gun air leaks out the barrel? And Ive done it while I have it cocked as well.

when I have the lever back air shoots out the mag well side as well as the front of barrel.

O rings seem to be all in I did have a problem with my valve pin but I epoxyd and taped my valve pin back together and it seems to be working as it sould I just can't get a fill.

When I turn my power adjuster down (jts airicuda standard) the air seems to move slower thru the barrel. It's almost like the air is just passing right thru the gun how can that be? Anyone?

Daystate  Daystate revere .177

Hello guys,
I just bought a new revere .177 from aoa,
And after first tank I realized the sound of the rifle changed,
Upon inspection a portion of o-ring that holds the transfer port in place was sticking out just under the barrel breach port!!!
Called Aoa and they said it happens after every 600 or shots!!!
They are sending me some spare o-rings and if that won’t work,
I can send the rifle back to Aoa,
Now my question to all u guys who use these pcp’s
Since this is my first ever pcp,
Why manufacturer has this portion shaved off at the entrance bottom part of the barrel port which is letting the o-ring slip out under pressure???
