Umarex  Question about Zelos

I remain very impressed with the power and accuracy of my .25 Zelos. The accuracy is simply insane. Rodents on my property would agree if they could.

The only "con" for me is the form factor. The bullpup design poses some challenges for ergonomics and sight plane.

A couple of questions about this rifle:

1) (No, I have not experimented with this) Is it possible to load two pellets into the chamber, or does having one pellet in the chamber, or if the rifle is in a "cocked" state, is it impossible to feed another pellet?

2) My main "con" about this rifle is the distance between the bore axis and the sighting axis of my scope. I note that for close shooting, I have to dial in a huge amount of elevation, which then puts my scope adjustment near the end of adjustability. I am currently using a zero degree offset picatinny rail.

What is a better mounting solution? 30minute offset? Other?

3) Does a pressurized dry fire of this gun cause damage?

Thanks,

Frank
Dry firing the gun does not cause damage, yes you can double load, and yes you can get 20/30mMOA scope mounts to help with not bottoming out your turrets. 👍

Resources  Getting into FT

Is FT an expensive thing to get into? What items are must haves and nice to haves? I haven't shot competition airgun since high school.

It isn't cheap, but nothing is these days. Plan on a minimum of $500 rifle and $500 scope. Plus a way to air up the gun assuming you are going PCP and don't have that yet. I still have a scuba tank, but portable compressors seem to be the way to go now. Stool, sticks, and carrier can be as cheap or extravagant as you like. If you are the buy once cry once type, then a $1500 rifle and $1000 scope seems to be where most end up in the game.

Looking for CF tank/ to fill myself w/ Foster nipple

Well these big tanks normally do not fill with a little foster fitting, but you can get a adapter plug that fit the DIN thread and then have the little foster male for you to connect to.
Or you can use a adapter and fill backwards through your fill kit you would use on the big bottle, my friend do that with this new small Vevor compressor and it work just fine, using a very old FX fill kit.

I have a big compressor / compressors so i fill with the DIN300 connection

I only own two expensive guns. Most if mine a cheep. Because I hardly ever buy new. Will only buy if it's a great deal, or a basket case that needs repairs.

FWB  Scopes on 10 meter rifles

As much as I enjoy shooting iron sights I recently put a scope on my FWB 300 S. Originally I thought I’d just try it for a little while then put the original diopter sight back on. But I’ve learned that it’s a lot more fun to be able to hit tiny targets that I couldn’t even see before with the stock sights. I even moved back to 46 feet, the max I have in my basement. Where I live it’s the only place I have to shoot without going to the club. Makes this wonderfully accurate rifle much more versatile to me. View attachment 542030
I had the same experience with an HW75 SSP pistol. The scope has been on it to this day, over fifteen years. I guess I'll need another one if I want to shoot open sights. 😁

HW/Weihrauch  Aperture disks...

Wow. Small world, wouldn’t want to paint it. I just came up from my shop and installed a new aperture on a 601.
I’m fascinated by these sights.

I love how on the your older models they use the stock for stability. Thanks for showing. Crow

Huben  PCP Progression - What was yours?

How is the cricket 2? Is there a regulator? I'm curious about their guns
Yes sir it is regulated. Gun is great quality all around, few things to consider:

Very accurate and well moderated with the factory shroud. I added a DFL Tatsu and it is as quiet as I could ask for.

I wish the safety was more tactile, it is very loose feeling with no positive click or anything.

For me, it's not a gun I would take into the woods or toss in my vehicle, it's a bench gun. Only downside is the stock doesn't take well to "bag riding", kinda hard to find a good spot to rest.

Overall, great build quality and extremely accurate and easy gun to shoot well. It would be the 1 gun I have that I would pick to make "The Shot".

Looking for CF tank/ to fill myself w/ Foster nipple

If you get a standard SCBA tank with CGA347 fitting try to get a hand tightening fill adapter like this.

All you need to fill from compressor is a double male foster (less than $10) to connect line from compressor to fill adapter.

Diana  Diana mod 5 worn pivot

Marflow knows his stuff! Start with the breech seal.

O-rings are cheaper than dirt online, you can buy a bunch of different sizes and materials for pocket change. Sizes are designated by the internal diameter and material thickness (example: a "3.0mm x 2.0mm" O-ring is 7mm in overall diameter). When I'm buying them I measure the existing seal as closely as I can, then order sizes that match, plus some a hair bigger and smaller, and see what works.

Diana guns of that era make liberal use of thin metal shims in many places. The gun should still have its original ones under the breech seal which may be fine if you drop in the proper size O-ring. It's easy to make shims too, you can use thin plastic sheet stock from a hobby shop or similar materials.
I ordered a variety of those Orings online and certainly some of them should fit. Definitely looking forward to getting my old mod 5 back in shape

huge buck taken with a Texan SS

These rounds are not exactly cheap to manufacture a box of 25 will retail around $45-$50 mark in the 45 and 50 caliber sizes so guys are not gonna be doing a lot of shooting / plinking with these rounds. I have shot a bunch through several different air rifles and have not seen any effect on the rifling. In order for these to fly Out the barrel at fast speeds they have very small, thin rings that barely make contact with the barrel. These are considered bore riders, so there is not a lot of surface to surface contact however, to shoot these accurately, you must clean all the lead or as much as you can out of your barrel before shooting these optimal performance, I can tell you this they are worth their weight in gold In terminal damage/ performance as seen in my Mississippi Airgun deer hunt vide.state governments have been trying for years to ban lead ammo. Some states have succeeded with a ban on use for hunting on public lands. Most states are still fighting it but eventually it will be nationwide or close to it at some point In my opinion. Non-lead options will be the future advancement in airgun ammo.
im in Ca where of course its already a rule which is why im interested in picking some up from you guys. hopefully youll have them in all different calibers

How to cool a cs4 or cs4-i, even better than just bleeding the air pocket.

don't understand why some are seeing positive results and others not.
I need to do more testing to be certain, but I think my water temperature went up after the rotate mod. Might have gone up by almost 10 degrees. Like I said though, I need do a few more cycles with it to be certain. Before the mod after one and only one check on a brand new machine I was in the high 90's. After the rotate the water temp was in the 107~108 range, again after only one cycle.

N/A  No scope on my pistols .

I tried one and it did not stay on the pistol very long. Makes the gun to big and heavy. I like to shoot standing, offhand bullseye style, one handed. sometimes sitting in a patio chair, two handed with gun still extended at arms length. Doing that the eye relief is still not long enough to suit my style.
Burris is the only actual long eye relief scope i can find 12( 14 ?) to 20 inch

HW/Weihrauch  Aperture disks...

Here's diopters from the early mid '50's, (maybe a second pattern Weihrauch version?), and from the mid '50's to modern times. Note how the disks get smaller, and less sophisticated with time: the knurling on rim changes, disk gets smaller, cross hatching to decrease glare changes or is deleted (I guess rubber hoods become common?).
I've seen schützen rifles from 19th century where the disk is has even larger diameter...
Yup, really trivia here!
