Huben  Any issues or problems with Huben gk1 please share your experience

If the valve swap doesn’t work, the only thing i can do … not to fix it but prove theres a issue. Swap the barrel/mags on both with each other.
i really believe it has something to do with the closing valve assembly. It does what it’s supposed to do allowing more air to pass as tank psi lowers but sooner than it should.
It operates great 35 down 30, slowly increases per shot till about 25 mpa before it opens up.
If i run it at say 20 fpe with a 30 fill it will do great 30 down to 25. Then spike at 20 mpa.
I dunno, ive had 3 different springs in there, no difference.
Up top … 3 valves. 2 strikers and multiple different springs… no difference.
Maybe something machined off within the block. Swapping the barrels will tell me a lot.

Taipan  Taipan Slash first tuning report.

I've had two K1's and a GK1, great guns..... can't argue with that! I would have no problem buying one again in the future.

However, you are aware that the Slash has a removable magazine and multiple safeties?
yes
I just noticed the price increase on the Slash. It's a brand new gun, and already the price has gone up. Not happy about that :(.

Maybe, it's due to the new tariff's.

The Slash is a great gun, very accurate, and has better safety features than many other semi-auto's. These improvements are very welcomed, but the latest price increase is not.
yeah if that gun was under $1800 i would say worth it honestly huben k1 bullpup is right now at $1700

Classified purchase Friends and Family

bummed when sellers dont give feedback. bought 2 things but i still show like a noob. oh well.
Yep, no sense having a feedback system if it is ignored by the sellers.

Ive given 3 sellers positive feedback, I have received none, paid promptly with their preferred method.

Then there is the Catch-22
Seller/buyer won't deal with you unless you have X amount of feedback.

Classified purchase Friends and Family

If I had not gone to PayPal FF, oh the many transactions I would have missed out on. But, I have had one or two ... even block me because I would not take GS. Regardless, I followed the lead by estabished members. I understand the counter points. I do wish both buyers and sellers would give feedback, I think its been about 50/50 maybe. Intrestingly, its the more established members that did not return feedback  🤔 In the majority of the cases, the established members with decent feedback don't want to 🪛 you over. Its a shared hobby and smiles work better than frowns.

AirMaks Arms  Airmaks Katran/BRK pathfinder - Airgun euphoria

Compacts! Yet to try a BRK product. Taipan Veteran, Airmaks ... CZ barrel ;). I believe there are some others AGT etc that use CZ barrels which I have not tried either. I have a past few issues with Airmaks right from the horses mouth on their end ( gave another chance cause the Katran was a wonderful intro for my wife into PCPs from springers ), but they pack some darn good features around that CZ barrel for the price/quality point. Humm, yeah, seems like my venture into this has also found some sort of pattern. SMH, thanks for the post and sharing. (y)

Taipan  Taipan SLASH Review (World's Top Semi Auto Air Rifle)

The vector objects did not work at all.
Nate, What Vector Optics and Element Optics scopes and magnifications were you using? Which did you like best on the Slash?
The vector optics did not work at all. I could not get the cross hairs and the barrel to line up. Crosshairs pointing too low. I used the helix because I had to. I always prefer the continental. I like the thinner cross hairs.

parts diagram for hw44 please

I had the same o ring fail recently on one of my HW44's. Like you, I couldn't find the size anywhere.
Ultimately I purchased three different sizes from O Rings and More to try.
8X1mm seemed to be the correct size by my my measurements but I also included 8X1.25 and 7.6X1.2

8X1 mm would work for anywhere from 25 to 100 shots before blowing out of the recess (I tried it three different times!)

Tried the 7.6X1.2 and it worked perfectly.

I also ordered two "o ring kits" to make sure I had spares on hand.

I spent $10 and change for six different sizes of o rings from O Rings and More and $6 of that was shipping. There was 25-50 o rings per size, six different sizes.

The two kits I ordered cost $58.85 shipped. I didn't count but they had about 20 o rings per kit.
These kits have maybe $2-$3 worth of o rings in them.
There's making a fair profit and then there's............. well you get the idea!

Just sayin
Thanks for your helpful input! I had recovered both parts of my oring and stuck them to some tape. The best I could measure with calipers, it may be a 10mm od by 1mm cs. Or maybe 11mm od. I ordered a 5 pack from ebay 10mm x 1mm to try. I'll follow up on fit and durability as I do use the pistol for Field Target.

Ring prices

I would only spend good money on rings if I had a system that could swap optics (glass vs digital, or scope vs prismatic) on the fly while keeping a garanteed zero at 100yards.

Other then that most rings are fine, never had a problem. The only problem I've seen in person where some chinese rings that came free with a budget scope where not really "round", they were elipsed and actually gave problems to my friend synce it messed up the scope adjustments.

Other  The Miracle Airgun Slug: Introducing AirMarksman Precision Slugs!

It was Altaros who changed the sport with their high BC, round nose slugs. Looks like Utah took notes and developed a similar slug. Nice to see other companies coming out with the round nose design.
The first Altoro slugs had a very similar profile to the mp mold round nose boattails that had been designed for some early model of Huben. I always felt like that might be the original for that basic profile

AirMaks Arms  Airmaks Katran/BRK pathfinder - Airgun euphoria

I’ve been at this for quite a while, spent $500 on air rifles and spent $2500 on air rifles. In that time, a hand full of those rifles were amazing and checked off a bunch of boxes for me. The majority of them were just mediocre.

Being in the bird abatement business, I’ve got to have compact, light weight , packable, decent shot count , no POI shift and above all else, ACCURATE. I’ve been fortunate enough to find all of that in a few guns, but my findings show most every rifle I’ve ended up keeping , ends up with a Huma regulator installed, or me installing one myself. Second thing I’ve figured out is that the majority of rifles that passed the test, ended up with a CZ barrel. Coincidence? Maybe, but I’m going to guess not. The exception to that rule has been most anything BRK related, which I believe has always been LW.

Which leads me to the title of this thread. At the moment, everything in my stable is either AIRMAKS or BRK, and they are there because of the reasons mentioned above. These two rifles are built like absolute tanks, have almost unbelievable chrony numbers, great shot count and just all around accurate rifles.

I listed the Pathfinder for sale a week or so back and thought I’d grab one in 177 or an Airmaks in 177 for 12 to 15 FPE, but the more I thought about it, the pathfinder is made exactly for my low power needs and I just hadn’t lowered the power wheel and got to tuning. Turns out , it’s perfect. 14fpe on low power with 16gr JTS pellets is EXACTLY what I needed for occasional warehouse work. Amazingly accurate out to 50 yards ( although most warehouse work takes place inside 30) and Unbelievable SD and ES no matter where the power is set. The rifle can easily be turned back up to full power and 25 FPE with just the click of the dial. What else could a man want?

Now enter the Katran. Although not as quite as adjustable, it may be possibly the best air rifle I’ve owned in all my years of airgunning. Craftsmanship is the best I’ve seen to date. Accuracy is above par and the Huma regulator has it spitting numbers that don’t look real. Everyone is different, but for me, I’ve not found a better shouldering rifle. Probably has a lot to do with the adjustable cheek riser, but shouldering the rifle , for me, is blissful.
I’ll leave with you a few pics and and numbers, but mainly come here to share my experience with each platform. I know a lot of us chase numbers and I’ve been guilty of it myself, but if you want a rifle that does what it’s supposed to, when it’s supposed to do it , do yourself a favor and pick either of them up. Or better yet, do what I did and grab them both! On a side note, I lucked up and BOTH rifles prefer the 16gr JTS on any tune I pitched at them.

Pathfinder results at 14 FPE And Katran at 24 FPE.

DIY Daystate GCU v5 (Red Wolf) programmer

How to build your own Daystate GCU v5 programming tool, this is the GCU found in the Red Wolf. The GCU communicates with the Daystate programmer via a '1 wire' serial interface, to build one of your own you will need the following components:

1 x 4k7 1/4 Watt 5% resistor (EBay $3.49 for 100)

1 x 1N4148 Diode (EBay $1.59 for 10)

1 x JST SH 1.0 5 pin plug with tails (EBay $3.49 for 10)

1 x USB-UART 5V TTL adapter (EBay $2.58 each)

All these parts can be found easily on EBay or Amazon although you may end up buying a pack of 10 or a 100 diodes and resistors. Even if you don't have any of these parts on hand you can still build the hardware for less than $20

Once you have these parts you will need to assemble them as shown in the schematic diagram below

Note the pin number on the programming header of the GCU

View attachment 193734

Depending on the type of USB-UART adapter you purchased you may be able to add the diode and resistor directly to the adapter

View attachment 193741

A fully assembled adapter and cable look like this (only 3 of the 5 pins are required)

View attachment 193747

Now that you have your hardware assembled you can plug it into your PC and follow the vendor's instructions to install drivers etc. Next you will need to download some software from Github.

https://github.com/DaystateRebel/gcui

The gcui tool is written in Rust (https://www.rust-lang.org/tools/install) but for convenience I have made a compiled Windows binary available here:

https://github.com/DaystateRebel/gcui_binaries/blob/main/gcui.exe

Download the exe (or build from source code if you prefer) and put it in a directory on your hard drive. Open a command prompt ad "cd" to the directory where you saved the executable. Gcui can perform the following functions (replace comX with the name of the USB-UART hardware, you'll find it in Device Manager)

To read power settings from the GCU

$ gcui.exe --port=comX --read --filename=file.csv

To write power settings to the GCU

$ gcui.exe --port=comX --write --filename=file.csv

To read the current air pressure from the GCU

$ gcui.exe --port=comX --pressure

To read the current pulse duration from the GCU

$ gcui.exe --port=comX --pulse

To read the GCU version

$ gcui.exe --port=comX --rwversion

The power settings are read to / written from a .csv which you can open in Excel/Google Sheets

Congratulations, you can now easily download, edit, save and reload power settings from your computer instead of writing them on bits of paper - welcome to the 21st Century!

Coming next - What do all these numbers mean and how do I recalculate HS & LS? I will also be adding support for "locked power" mode to gcui so we a full featured alternative to the current hardware programmer

Happy Hacking

Rebel
Ok I'm lost already, put the hardware together and went to the links above and the second 2 links don't work and the first doesn't have an exe file

Skout  Everything Skout EVO and Epoch

I always got a slight raise in reg pressure with the fill pressure, but will now monitor now I seem to have the reg pressure under control, but I am now finding that both 10.34 gr and 8.44gr pellets shoot at almost the same velocity, something that it's never done before! More testing to do, but it's looking hopeful for the fabled single figure FPS, but right now I am chasing leaks! Teach me to remove and reseal the fill valve as I had to check it since several have reported shredded O rings, and strangely mine just has a metal plug with just a single O ring that just slides up and down first time I have seen a valve like this, should have taken a pic.

FX  Dreamline - second hand heavy mystery.

This on reddit:

While shooting one day, she jammed on me. I removed the barrel and cleared the two pellets, unfortunately it dry fired without the magazine or barrel on by accident. I reassembled it and tried to fire and it just clicked, cleared the pellet again and it still clicked. So I released all the air from the tank and regulator, refilled it, but now once the regulator hit 100, and the tank hit 100 the regulator was creaping past that mark as the tank filled, once I seen the reg. hit 160 I stopped the tank only got to like 180. Either way, once that was done I test fired it a few times it worked and then randomly jammed again, cleared the jam and it then it wasnt firing again. I unfilled and refilled the tank and attempted to fire with the same result, I done this like 3x, btw it had dry fired again after one of the fills, so I decided to give it a rest for a few days.

It sounded like valve lock maybe, but after lowering the pressure he said the regulator says 50 bar, and the gun still won't shoot. Any ideas? Broken hammer spring? Broken valve? Not holding his mouth right?

N/A  Skout Evo vs Daystate Red Wolf

Wow, blast from the past! Thanks for your reply. I decided on a Blackwolf and besides the initial sticker shock, I've been very happy with my decision. Hopefully it remains "one and done", though my eye does still wander a little...
I would like to see some of your results, I have posted some of mine on the Daystate BlackWolf owner discussion thread
