A real treat for Sheridan lovers!

So who makes custom Sheridan stocks ? Absolut Top choice wood of course >

Some aspiring craftsmen that haven't realized what a losing proposition it is.

On the one hand, when you find someone seemingly willing to do it within your price range you should jump on it.

On the other hand, if you do you risk a bad experience if they come to their senses before delivery.

Sheridan  Buyer beware!

I will always initiate a phone call, and if you've been around the block a couple of times, when you're talkin' to someone, you can size 'em up pretty quick. Obviously an Ebay deal is hard to confirm with a phone call.

Which is why I almost always include my phone number in my For Sale ads on this forum, also including the statement '"feel free to CALL ME with qestions or for more information". Strangely enough , those obviously HONEST offers not only usually fall on deaf ears, but seem to prolong my For Sale listings until someone with sense enough to realize the seller is HONEST finally takes advantage of a good, honest offering. Which make me chuckle to hear about the less astute getting burned.

As you say, "you can size 'em (prospects) up pretty quick". The chaf don't want to be sized up.

As far as I can ascertain, it is impossible on Ebay to confiirm ANYTHING. Another reason we call it Fleabay.

In closing, I'll state anyone posting vague descriptions or photos, unresponsive to pointed questions, or allergic to conversation(s) is NOT TO BE TRUSTED... no matter what generation they are.

Interesting challenge...

"ease of use, simplicity, enough accuracy, and weight" might not rule out a spring piston breakbarrel, something not overpowered for caliber (probably .22). Break barrel, put in pellet, close barrel and shoot; doesn't get simpler than that. I have a Diana two-fifty that is easier to cock than most, under 7 pounds with a peep, 8 with a simple 4x32 scope and accurate enough. The 260 is the plastic version of the wood 250. The Crosman Shockwave also boasts a similar light weight and is not too powerful for the caliber, but I've never shot one.

The Airventuri Dragonfly Mk2 might fit the bill too, I have a Mark 1 and it is light and accurate, but the pumping gets old. The Mark 2 is supposed to be a lot easier to pump. But it says they are out of them at Pyramyd until October.
It's the learning and practice cycle on a springer for consistent accuracy that I'm not sure of... especially on one potent enough for rock squirrels... An HW30 or equivalent is quite marginal in my opinion . I know they'll take one cleanly with a perfect shot but more would be badly wounded than not in my estimation ... above an HW30, they get heavy and tougher to be consistent with.

Dragonfly might be a viable option if they're still available ... better than a Sheridan or Benji pump in terms of effort... also, those have poor design for scope mounting.
Just my thinking here...
Bob

Sheridan  Buyer beware!

I think a good practice on eBay is to buy from established vendors with a large number of positive reviews that offer free returns for say 30 days. I recently bought a HW 70 with a missing part that was in the picture but not in the description. It also needed new seals, although the vendor said in the ad, "works as it should". He offered a 30-day return and it was no hassle to do the return. Out the shipping cost, but was glad to get my $200 back. Free returns also saved my bacon on a fishing rod and bow purchase as well. I get excited when I see a good price for something on my wish list and don't review the photos well or ask questions like I should. Just going on the description only, and some spare cash is my problem.

Thank you for reinforcing my points, JD.

Karma  Karma red panda second regulator issue.

need to replace oring on adjustment screw. It would be the bottom if there's two. On my amp regs anytime I see they've creept,I replace the bottom oring on the adjustment screw. Fixes the issue everytime. Sometimes it lasted a year and sometimes less, depending on sitting changing temperatures. The more a gun is subject to temperature change, the more those orings are stressed. I've not had my pandas reg apart, but I'm sure there's an ori g on the adjustment screw if not two. If the pressures rise past the set point,it's usually the bottom oring.
Could the o-rings cause the regulator to fall off? When I am on just the air guns bottle. And not tethered as well.

Other  Gentle Shot Cycle

Gentle shot cycle… After reading the post by @cavedweller I decided to pull my Atomic XR out of the safe and have a shooting session after work. She simply is a gentle beastie to send with. The targeted pest don’t see her as gentle, more like murderous…🙈 At 17 fpe she quite polite, I can see in most instances, the pellets on the way to my POA/POI. In good conditions I can make repeatable hits on objects the size of a chipmunks head from 15 to 50 yards, consistently. I have found my nirvana with my sub 25 fpe PCPs.

i feel the same about my 24.55 fpe notos. just poppet being smacked and short “chutt” at the muzzle. like you, i very much enjoy my sub 25 fpe pcp. akela included. notos more so because i actually worked on it to get it where it is. gentle shot cycle should be standard for tuners

Youtube channel critique ideas

So I am thinking about starting a youtube channel about my journey growing into the world of air rifles. Like things I have learned that I wish I knew earlier and reviews from someone who isn't a insider. One of the things that has always rubbed me kind of wrong is watching review videos where the camera is facing only their face the entire time and doesn't actually show the distance. So I am messing around with the format and placement and wanted the opinion of actual shooters. When I am doing actual reviews I plan on shooting from a table with a lead sled to give the air rifle the best possible chance. But this is more, is the layout of this shooting portion good or do you think I should change this? But other than this, what would you as a shooter like to see in a video that you really aren't seeing right now?

Youtube Test Run
Nice! I suggest a close up camera as well. I subscribed :)

Karma  Karma red panda second regulator issue.

Good afternoon, went shooting today and notice that I have a regulator issue. When I start a slug testing session. I noticed that the second regulator will start falling off pressure when it's not tethered to a bottle. When the gun is tethered.
The regulator seems to work normal. When I get home and set the gun on my table. I notice that the regulator will creep past the original setting. Gun is in 22 caliber, SHOOTING THE NEW AIR MARKSMAN, 40 GRAIN PRECISION slug first regulator is wide open.
The second regulator setting 2600 PSI.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, Rick.

Airmaks Caiman - a definitive regulator fix!

JimD,
haven't let it sit overnight & tried it. So, I don't know if servicing the regulator would help. Thanks for explaining the lubrication requirements.
I think the regulator is not working , so , I called Utah Airguns & explained the Problem.
They are aware of this issue. They said that the regulator in the Caimans will not take above a 250 bar fill.
If you go above that the Delrin seat deforms & air leaks past. Once it is deformed it is too late, the person I talked to said it does not come back to shape.
They are sending me a 250 bar Regulator for a Katran to use for now & I cannot fill above 250 bar. They also said Airmaks are working to send new regulators that will take the 300 Bar fill.
I am in line to get one when Utah air receives them. They do not know when they will arrive though.
I am traveling now & will not get to test for 2-3 weeks.
I will post results when I get back in town.

Thanks for the help

Daystate  Delta Wolf - Why isn't it more popular?

I've thought about buying one off and on and was starting to consider it again. I hardly see any posts on them good or bad. Why are these rifles not more popular,? Is it the price, performance, or both?
I’ll never buy another “electronic” rifle again. I’ve had three VERY bad experiences with them and at over $3K … never again, regardless of whose name is on it.
