Taipan  Taipan Slash first tuning report.

jpiperson2002, Thank you for the detail reporting. Excellent information!!

I like that you can get the Slash .25 power with the JSB 25 and 34's down to 55/57 fpe. For me, that makes the .25 caliber now much more enticing than the originally published 90J/66fpe by Taipan. Plus, I assume the Power Kits could allow us to go even lower still (or higher).

You documented the issue with the 3D Pellet Seater, and hopefully, Taipan will acknowledge and correct. Possibly more than one Pellet Seater needed.

Can you still seat pellets/slugs individually with appropriate ballpoint pen or golf tee like we do with the Huben's?

"She might be ugly .but she sure can cook".Well I got to be honest

I am usually a "form over function" kinda guy, but will occasionally compromise my high-minded priorities if/when function is inarguably outstanding. No, I'm not talking anbout "last call" situations; although they may not be impertinent to this discussion.

But on a (semi-)related note, did you hear Texas A & M researchers believe they've made a breakthrough with incalculable implications for Mankind?

They've taught a sheep to cook.

EaZy Trigger Fill for PCPs

:) I don't want to be an @rse but where you guys finding 300 bars refilling from a bottle? Especially from those small ones.
I tried several times to top up my 14L bottles (I believe these are the largest scba we have seen so far) to 300 bars with multiple last push, after an hour cool down max I was reading on the digital gauge about 280 ish. So I gave up pushing my compressor so hard several runs only to get a very last 10%.
Just asking for a friend ;)

Hold-Over or Dial? …Scope Turret Labels - DYI

I think the $1000 requirement to get a scope that tracks well applies to scopes from a decade or two ago.
➧ We have entered a Golden Age of Scopes 😃 (same can be said for airguns, just look at the development in the last 10 years 👍🏼).

Even $500 MRSP might not be necessary to get turrets that are consistent, over time.
Athlon, Arken, Vector and others turn out really good stuff.

And there are always lemons in every batch of product, no matter what. — So, if you had a bad experience with sub-$500 scopes, I'm sorry! 😞

Matthias
I agree to a degree. Scopes are definitely better built than not long ago. Do a box test with a turn and a half travel on each knob and see how a $500 scope fairs. It may pass initially but if you do a lot of dialing they wear quickly and lose their tracking accuracy. I had the option until not long ago to shoot out to 625 yards daily off my back deck. My 22lr requied nearly 15' of dialing or holdover at 320 yards and my actual experience shows that inexpensive scopes only track well for short dialing and or a short time. Its hard to put a specific price break on scopes because some companies are over priced and under deliver. Others are a good value in some areas but compromise other areas. IMO to get a good long range scope that has good mechanisms and decent glass, $500 is bare minimum.

As far as as airguns and distances go. Airguns aren't typically shooting distances that require much more than mediocre glass. Their slow velocities however require a lot of hold over or dialing. A well built scope with ok glass like mid tier Athlons are fine for airguns. Mind you I'm not saying airgunners don't deserve top tier glass. I'm saying it's not as necessary under 200 yards as it is at 500 plus.

Huben  PCP Progression - What was yours?

Mine started with an impulse buy when wandering through Academy, I saw an Umarex Origin .22. Less than $300 with a hand pump, so it came home with me
Hook set so next was an Airforce TalonP in .25. I bought it to deal with pests but the fun factor was high.
Next was RTI Prophet Performance with .22LR barrel, but later I picked up a .25 RPB.

Thats it for now, but I fear a Mora is calling my name.

Utah Airguns Moving Sale 6/30/25 - Save Up To 50% Off

Saying UA and Sale in the same sentence is an oxymoron.
They used to be my go to source for supplies. Now they are the last resort. Not only has pricing gotten high, but service and knowledgeable are a rarity.

I hope Justin reads this thread and rethinks his path. They used to be great.
twelve posts and 11 are negative. Says a lot about what the industry thinks about your operation
I ordered pellets once from UA, dented tins and skirts. I stick with Pyramid they know how to package pellets properly.
Folks Airgunners!

Q.: What would you say are your Top Three “go to” outfits for everything airgun related insofar as pricing, service quality, responsiveness, product availability, etc. is concerned.

I’m sure we’ve all had some issues and problems but most importantly some great experiences with various sellers etal in the market.

I’ve used most is not all the legacy outfits out there and generally have been satisfied… others more than most!

Could a regulator creep in the heat and stay at a higher pressure?

Having some issues with my gun when the temperature starts rising throughout the day. When I sight-in in the morning and shoot later in the heat of the afternoon POI shifts an entire MIL low. Could a regulator creep and stay at a higher PSI due to the heat? It will stay grouping and entire MIL low. Not just the first shot. It's not the scope changing POI I have tried three of them. Can't seem to figure it out.

Airgun Technologies  AGT URAGAN MANUAL. FOUND

Any chance that any one here has had to replace the o-ring that leads to the fill port? I can’t figure out how to remove the air line (hose) on the front end, right up against the back side of the fill port. There isn’t enough room to get a wrench in the given space.

Spark plug socket, or the deepest and thinnest 14mm socket you can find.

Basically something like this :
714+4p0UuxL._AC_SY300_SX300_.jpg

Gamo  Piston seal

New Gamo 33mm Vortek seal installed.

1) its not as hard and "plasticy" as the original.
2) it went on a little easier than the one I bought from spain
3) 40 shots in it is consistant so far, in about a week I will know more

I don't have a chronograph but FPS per "drop" @50 yards seems very very close to the original.

No complaints so far 🤪
I am getting 1/4 to 1/2 inch groups @27 yards, very consistent after about 200 shots.

Exploring the New Skout Airguns Configurator Tool

This is such an amazing company. They really do 'get it'.
They are proactive with any issues, proactive in getting their customers necessary information. In an industry with sub-par customer service, Skout really is in a league of their own.

Air Venturi  Noise During Pump

My standard Avenger makes a conspicuous squeak on each pump stroke when filling from a hand pump, so I suspect what you are hearing is normal.

Side note, the check valve on mine started leaking a few weeks ago, and when I repaired it I swapped the check valve ball to a stem type and discarded the spring. Your question made me realize I haven’t noticed the squeak recently. Not sure if that eliminated it or I simply became desensitized to it. I’ll have to check.

Huma Reg Vulcan 3

I have shot the 30gr with my vulcan 500 laser accurate 170 bar will get the 30gr going around 930 fps you will need a heavier spring you can use talontune spring

I have done a lot of tests on the Vulcan factory regulator and the Huma The factory regulator is amazing and very consistent build like a tank, but If you go above 170 bar It will become slower you may need to change the washer stacking it will fix this problem and make it recover faster Right now my v500 shooting JSB 18.13gr and the v700 shooting the 33gr precision slug amazing rifles and they will draw a smile on your face whenever you use them
Tryed to order a talontune spring online but keept saying somthing about my postcode mabe cos I'm from UK. Best I can get is a fx mk2 spring which done the job when I put my agt reg at just over 170 bar. Yes your right I had to turn it back down. It shot well for a few days an then went off the ball not sure y. That y I'm giving the huma reg a go. I got 2 agt regs so might have a play with 1 of the stacks. Any info on a stack. What I did notice with the agt reg in a tester. Anything 150 an under it would stop in the tester where it should. Then anything over 150 it would go past... release a bit of air an then it would go to what the reg was set at. Do that mean it's creeping. Omg av u see them hp regs lol monsters never seen them before until I came across 1 on here

Scopes with center dots and suitable for hunting?

if i had the money i would strongly consider this option, they must be coming out with a new model or line as these are significantly reduced in price. i generally prefer Mil / FFP platforms from my long range rifle days (but they also offer SFP versions) .

it's not a two thousand dollar scope but it's in my opinion a pretty darn good value at $415 dollars. I just can't afford it right now.

the only major negative at least for me would be the parallax value but it sure would work well for me at the distances I tended to shoot at.
On that amazon page, the 4-16x50 is better for hunting than the 6-24, no? I already have a Athlon 6-24 but the pov is not suitable for hunting. That 4-16 looks good at $374

If only I had the skill of a taxidermist!

A friend used to hunt coons with dogs and always had a freezer full. He would slow cook them on his grill over the weekend when I wanted one, man I miss them. Slow cooking them like he did helped with the gamey taste. Mark
My grandpa "pa" used to raise award winning Redbones when I was a kid. He had many dogs featured in coon hunters magazine. Tricycle Annie and a lot of her pups turned out to be amazing hunting dogs. Sus Vide, cock pot, and basting while slow smoking all have turned out great for me. Haven't tried many other ways but they are hard to beat in my opinion.
