FWB  *UPDATE* Feinwerkbau 150 - help needed

I got the the rebuild completed today. Picked up the breech and buffer seal from ARH. It doesn’t look like the action has ever been opened up before. All went very smoothly. Screws and pins came out quite easily. First three shots over the Chrony were 590 fps average using 7.0 RWS Basic pellets. Raining hard here today so these four (first one was a function shot) shots were function and velocity tests. Thank you all so much for all the good pointers and potential trouble spots. This forum is a true wealth of courtesy and knowledge. Also, I discovered that the stock is Beech not Walnut. I’m happy for this discovery because Beech is far stronger than Walnut and probably why FWB went to it. It’s stained so well it’s difficult to tell without removing the stock. Thanks again everyone.
EDIT - upon removal of the receiver again and a closer study of the wood stock, I can say with certainty that this stock is Walnut. Just very tight grained heartwood. Heavy like Beech.

30-Yard Challenge

To Air or not to Air...

This morning I shot a couple 30-Masters cards with the Regal.

The 1st card was a 195 10X - it looked so nice - 18 of the 20 shots chronoed at 807fps.

The 2nd card was also a 195 10X. I shoot row by row, top to bottom - alternating right to left, then drop down a row and go left to right.

When I finished target pair 8, I noticed that I was losing velocity - falling off the regulator. Chrono velocity for each target is on the card.

At that point, I thought I had a perfect 200 going - I didn't realize that 4B was just a tiny bit low of a 10.

Would you have stopped and put air in the rifle at this point? Would you have kept shooting and tried to adjust to the velocity drop by holding higher?

I kept shooting... cost me a 30-Masters leaderboard submission, lol. Too lazy to Air up.

What springer did you shoot today?

No shooting today. Had to take the wife to doctors appointment this morning, then we went to a veterans luncheon at a local assisted living center, We have a lot of organizations that put on these luncheons throughout the month at little to no cost to the vet and spouse.
By the time we got home temp is 98 no idea of heat index, but probably around 105.

Cross eye dominant

I am right handed and left eye dominant. The best advise I can give is when using a traditional scope try to keep both eyes open. Choose a scope that has a forgiving eye box, and stay away from using the highest magnification (which typically makes the eye box / eye less forgiving).

I have successfully used a red dot (technically a reflex dot) on low powered spring guns. One thing you'll want to look for is an optic with multiple dots or reticles for holdover. Because chances of a squirrel / target always being at the same distance is slim. And as you'll find a pellet can drop quite a bit after your zero points.

Another thing to consider is that spring guns are notoriously hard on some optics. Make sure your optic is "spring gun rated". I use a small Hawke scope with Sportsmatch rings on my springer.

If you're just shooting squirrels at say less than 50 yards you don't need much power. A low to medium power spring gun will suffice.

Pyramyd AIR has a great tool to help you find what you need

Here's a link to the tool

and a link that I narrowed down to spring gun for pest control

Keep in mind this thread was created in the Optics forum. For more Spring gun advice try starting a thread in the Traditional forum

I asked Holosun this question: I have a 5 year old Holosun 403B. I'd like to use it on an air rifle pellet gun. Some airgunners say spring piston and gas ram rifles will destroy the 403. My question is how much vibration can the 403 withstand? Any recommendations on what type of air rifle to use the 403 on?

This was their answer: Thank you for contacting Holosun. The HS403B will be able to handle the vibration no problem.

НLet's clarify, so there's no mistake. It's about the detail indicated by the red arrows, right?View attachment 582324
ok, got it now.

I 3d printed the coaxial rest that you are pointing at. It's a existing design I found on the internet https://www.mrbcrc.com/3dprint.html

It works great! I mounted the 3d printed coaxial rest on top of a scissor lift I bought on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YMZWJK3?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1
I also used an Amazon slide https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKW6XWFG?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_3&th=1

I also 3d printed the rest with ASA-CF filament.

I also 3d printed 2 level adjusters that mount on the scissor lift as shown in the picture.

why do people that say they don't know still

I don’t know OP, but your guess is as good as mine! :ROFLMAO:

The thing to remember here is that this is a discussion forum. A lot of people are here to discuss, and that includes conjecture. What you as a reader have to do is learn to sift through the crap and find the truth. LOTS of reading, comparing data, and finding those people who ARE educated and CAN be trusted (not just shills with a popular YT channel) all go a long way to learning what’s true and what’s not. In addition to your own testing and research, of course. It’s all part of what makes the hobby/sport fun! :)

Anywhere I can find HW30S synthetic in US?

Do not understand. He gets them new at a discount from Pyramid Air and then sells them for the same price as Pyramid Air. He makes the money off the small discount he gets from Pyramid Air. Why would you get a discount if it takes away most of his profit and he still has to pay for the tune from his profit? I know his profit, and it is less than the tune that AOA charges. He has free shipping. The only advantage of buying from Flying Dragons over Pyramid Air (both same price to the consumer) is that you get a free tune with Flying Dragons. That is a big deal to me, and I want the gun checked out for defects as I cannot find and fix them myself, and QA/AC has suffered at HW like with everyone else.

Well im out ...

Take your time guys.....

Nice to see! Thanks for sharing!

I'm also lucky to have all kinds of critters on the property. Same problem with deer in the shooting lanes.

Was working in the garage this morning and had the feeling I was being watched, turned out that it was the local doe curious about what I was doing.

Here's "Molly" bedded down on the front lawn.

Cheers!
