One hole,
Welcome to the forum, glad to have you here. Problem is JTS Airacuda MAX, not moderator. Search, "Airacuda MAX," in upper right corner search box for full story, quick version is shrouds were never checked for straightness during manufacture so many went out shaped like a banana. With barrel not pointing same direction as end of shroud clipping of external moderator is inevitable. JTS is now permanently gluing thread protectors on external moderator threads to address problem. WM
We won't fix it, we will disable the feature we messed up 😂

Western Airguns  Rattler 357 and 45

Anyone have some concrete info on the new rattler 45? I ask because I have a deposit down on a 357 and just found out the 45 is coming.... would be a total bummer if I buy the 357 and the 45 makes more energy and similar shot count.

Side question: any idea if there's a way to make the rattler handle 300bar in the tank?
I have the 357 taking it hog hunting thus week, yeah I want the 45 too lol long strike

Raccoon Pellet Choice/Tune (vs plinking)

I'm dealing with a raccoon problem at my chicken coop. Knock wood they've left the chicks alone (coop is pretty secure) and are going in the run, eating the feed, etc. It's a drive thru all night long.
I've got 2 so far. I'm new to all this so...
I have an Air Venturi Avenger Bullpup(2) 25 cal. Right now just the factory tune. Reg about 2800. I currently have the JSB Exact 25 gr. I'm set up about 40 yards in a perfect angle position.
The first I got nervous and only got a body shot. But, I got another in him and he dragged away. No way he made it.
I then put a bait board with smeared PB and marshmallows. The next was in position long enough that I hit the base of the head. Thrashing but I quickly got another. When I approached he was still alive. Point blank ended it.
I'm sure the combo of this distance, 25 grain, tune just isn't quite enough for these dense monsters.
I guess I'm searching for the best of both worlds. Maybe a heavier hybrid type pellet? If I did that would a hammer spring adjustment be needed?
I did get a cheap Chrono that guys here recommended but I haven't tinkered with it yet. I do allot of plinking so I'd hate to really jack it up. That said, this problem comes first. Last think we need is then getting in the coop.
At this point, I'm open to any advice. The distance is pretty much fixed. Any closer would require a steep change in angle.
Right now, I'm going to keep putting the food, try to nail down their time table now that I've taken out the big ones that come first. I have cams all around for this.
Much Appreciated....
They do make a heavy jsb that's up around 34 grains iirc. Depending on what you're OK with, there's other tactics. The handcuff traps have been mentioned, but im a big fan of connibear traps, they're cheap. The attached Pic is a waaaay too low power connibear on a skunk, my 2 more powerful ones crush racoon skulls or break arms. You just need to know how to place them to save the chickens or other animals from setting it off.

The low road. Xylitol sweetener in whatever bait you have for raccoons is cumulative liver failure. It works on other animals too so beware. It's an Amazon product.

In 25 it's hades for me, 1 grain heavier than your regular jsb pellets and they do some damage. I used to shoot raccoons with a pump benjamin 392 and crow magnums at like 600 fps in the lungs 😂 none walked away. 40 yards is no problem, in fact if you can set up and shoot some daytime sighters it's even better. I'm shooting the hades 25 at 860 fps and have taken a couple pigeons past 100 yards leaning up against a post with my hand under the gun for a rest. They do pretty nicely out of my gun(different brand). 40 yards means head shots are on the menu.

RTI  RTI Mora, "Come On Man!"

Consistency in spades! Nothing I've experienced in the past can match this type of consistency. The Mora in .25 caliber is quite simply the most accurate PCP I've ever had the opportunity to shoot.

Accuracy is the result of the culmination of several factors all enjoined to created the desired effect. It's a great feeling when everything comes together and that X ring disappears. However, the most important thing is having the confidence in your equipment to know you can do it again and again, at will. Consistent repeatability is literally everything and that's where this gun really shines.

Here are six 100 yard targets all shot between 970-978 fps. That's an aggregate total of 150 shots (no sighters) with an average SD of 2.0 and an ES of 7.7fps.

Ridiculous in the best possible way.

Nice, got me one last time I was at AoA ,ain't has time to shoot it.

Other  Why so many .25 cal. for sale?

I'll be one to admit that I went from Taipan Veteran .22 to Taipan Veteran .25 "just because". The vast majority of my shots are on chipmunks and squirrels within 35m. And for that, the .22 is more than enough. However, in the 4 years I owned the .22, I just couldn't seem to get the .25 out of my mind. I bought the .25 last year thinking that I will still use the .22 more often, but after getting it, I wanted to shoot just the .25 so I sold the .22 gun.

I also added a Taipan Veteran Short also in .25 caliber. I have it tuned to 25 FPE and gets 90 shots on the reg. One thing I really like about the .25 is at moderate powers and with comparable FPE with a .22, the .25 is just so efficient. Yes, if you tune a .25 to the same power as a .22, with the available projectiles, the .25 will have a more curved trajectory. In my use case though, I'm always using a rangefinder if I don't already know the distance so I really don't find it an issue. Again, this is with a moderate tune. I've never tried it but I'm sure everything is different with a max power tune.

On squirrels, one thing I notice is that on chest shots, the .25 kills noticeably faster than the .22 caliber. In the years I owned the .22, I mostly did headshots with great success... I still go for headshots with the .25 but I'm now more likely to go for a chest shot with the bigger caliber.

Airgun Capital

I ordered an Airgun Capital suppressor/moderator for my JTS Airacuda Max in .25 cal. It looked like a nice aluminum unit and cut my decibels by 15+, but it turned my tack driver into a scatter gun. Inspection showed strike marks on the baffles and end cap which is marked .22/.25 cal. So I looked on their website and the only way to contact them is by email which it says is 24/7. Really? After three days and five emails I haven't heard anything from them. I'm always suspicious of a company that doesn't give an address or phone number for contact. Their warranty online is for 30 days and I'm hoping that they step up and give me a refund or a replacement.
So my questions are, has anyone else had a problem with AC suppressors, and how did they resolve your problem?
As best you can tell is there a defect or poor alignment within the supressor or is the misalignment at your muzzle threads? Without being tightened down, I'm curious what the slop feels like before it's backed up against the "stop" fully tightened. If it's wiggly it's probably thread tolerance and can be shimmed out. I know most people want lego guns but that's a tall order when mixing manufacturers sometimes.

N/A  New to PCPs

Hey. One more question that I forgot to ask. When doing my chronograph testing, overall the velocities were super consistent. Like within a couple FPS either way. But on a couple occasions, one shot out of the string would drop a full 10 fps. Would that be an indicator that it needs a little more tension on the hammer spring?
Does it correlate to a position in the shot string every time or is it random? If random I bet it's got more to do with the pellet, but 10fps isn't worth fussing over ime.... Unless it's for tournament level stuff.

Hikmicro Alpex 4K LRF - How to Buy in the USA

The general way to do it is as I explained above. I have Proton VPN on both my PC and iPhone and that is what I use to get an IP address for each device outside the USA. When you setup the VPN, select an English speaking country or your browser will think it needs to change the language!
It was a tough day trying to get the Hikmicro Sight app. I got the Proton vpn and set the UK as country.
Apple would not change country until 2 apps that have about a month of use left, can’t cancel today.
Thats what it says now anyway and if anything I’ve learned you ain’t getting an app unless they say so.

RTI  Getting Naked

Well..obviously not what you think..LOL. but made ya look..

Backstory..

It all started when I happened on the FX Hornet on the HumaAir website. I wanted one. But I wasn’t going to buy a $1700 used M2 or M3 and add an additional $300-$400 for other parts to make it happen. Yeah..El Cheapo. So what to do?

IMG-1-Huma-FX-Hornet.png

I already had a couple of nice RTI projects that I’d modified. I could start with one of those. Nah. Those were dedicated yard and long range squirrel guns.

It was early November 2024 when this idea started. I knew that RTI Arms in Spain would have their Black Friday sale soon. So I got Naked. Eeeeuuwwww! No, as mentioned earlier..not what you thought, I ordered a Prophet1 frame from RTI Spain. They call the part a “Naked Prophet”. Note for everyone running to RTI Spain website to order a base P1..don’t bother..they’re no longer available. Sad. The only “Naked” they sell now is the P3. At least I wasn’t able to find the P1 or P2 on the menu.

IMG-2-RTI-Micro-Naked.png

The build required that I have a number of spare parts. Standard RTI Butt pad..check. 16” CZ barrel..check. Regulator..check. Shroud..check. Scope rail..check. Smallish air tube..Nope. Dang! No bottle would work for this build. .as you’ll see from the pics. I needed a tube. The search began.

Long story short, I could not find an aftermarket tube of the size I needed to make my RTI “Hornet”. Heavy sigh!

HumaAir had 170cc FX tubes. Right OD and length. Would they work? I e-mailed them to find out if the FX tube had the M18x1.5 bottle threads needed to mate with the RTI regulator. They said yep. Bought the FX tube. Package arrived. Argh! Obvious nope. Threads not a match. Double Argh!

IMG-3-RTI FX-Oops.JPG

I contacted HumaAir for a return authorization shipper. Instead, they asked “how can we help?”. Did not expect that..at all. I told them what I was trying to do, sent them pics and specs. In about 10 days I had a part in hand that mated the RTI regulator to the FX tube, perfectly.

I’m giving Hum-Air a shout out here because they went above and beyond what they needed to do. They could have just sent me the RA and washed their hands of the situation..but instead, they went the extra mile and really much more. Without the help provided by the folks at Huma-Air, this whole build would probably have stalled out. Wouldn’t it be great if all manufacturers and dealers used those same four words..”how can we help?”

KUDOS to Marc at Huma-Air for his GREAT customer support and for really providing a service above and beyond expectations.

So starting the assembly from naked went smoothly. The RTI Prophets (at least the P1s) are like Legos for adults. Everything just fits.

IMG-14-RTI Micro-W Discovery 6X.JPG

Did I check all the boxes. Nope..missed the desired 26 inch OAL by 1/16 inch. Oh Darn. Shot count on the first tube of 220 bar down to 110 bar was 66..this exceeded what I was expecting. Weight..I was hoping it would end up less than 7 pounds..smoked that at under 6 pounds by an ounce or two.

Does it shoot? LOL It has a CZ barrel..which should say it all. I did a quick sight in at 9yds in the garage..set impact for .9” beneath the aim point. Then drew a rabbit brain sized black dot on a box and..first shot at 19yds nearly centered in the “brain”…followed by four more. You could literally hear my face ripping from the ear to ear grin. “Hon, what’s that tearing sound coming from the garage??” Nuttin Honey..just a large smile.

Next will be the RTI Micro going to prom..dressed up in FDE. Maybe with a FDE fade-out on the CF 50mm. Possibilities abound.

Getting Naked can be fun..LOL. ;-)

That $13.91 fill probe comes to a total of $102.39, thank you very much

Is there an alternative source to Huma Air? In the US preferably...

I'm not having much luck.

Maybe I just need to be careful to not lose the one that I have for now
Just recently purchased one for my Edgun R3 from Utah Airguns. Have you checked with them? Cost me $24 but WAY better than ordering from overseas. Got to me in 2 days!

FWB  P70 Ginb FT rifle.

Was recently given the opportunity to become the caretaker of this amazing rifle. Rifle is 12ftlb and was worked over by AZ. It is wearing a Ginb stock and some other aftermarket goodies. Even came with the original running target stock. Feeling really fortunate and completely spoiled to have this rifle.
