N/A  Weihrauch HW97K Synthetic

I use a hw95/r9 .177 and shooting 50 yards is everyday all day for me .. and i don't use optics 98.9253% of the time . Just the factory out of the box irons . So that 97 with a decent scope should be a 50y piece of cake .

To me in my opinion is buying a gun without sights is like buying a car with out steering wheel .. then your stranded to optics only . Naaaa...
thankyou for you help looking at the 95 looks great thinking hard about that gun for hunting rabbits

I prefer .177 in a hw. If i go .22 i want more power then hw offers . Hw guns can take a fps hit in .22 ( opinion)

Tune / spring and seal , i like arh . Lot of guys like arh spring with a vortek seal . Arh seals you probably got to fit it where vortek is more drop in .

In the end it comes down to what you find best after usage and experience .

P.s ...

I do like the black line stuff .. kinda wish hw would do a affordable hw95 black line instead of dropping the affordable standard 95 for stupid anniversary or wallnutts for 100's more that don't shoot any better ...lol
thankyou for your input michigan keith1

Dreaming of this scope

I’m in agreement! It’s taken me 3 years of stubbornness and self indulgent silliness to figure out what I want in a Airgun scope for HFT

That makes sense, my only problem with finding a perfect scope is I won’t have anything to complain about. More importantly I won’t have that as an excuse, no excuses is a rather uncomfortable situation IMHO.🤣

That being said! I think you mentioned you are in HFT class and interestingly it makes scope choices rather difficult due to the constraints of 14x magnification especially when it comes to ranging to put it mildly as a self proclaimed scope snob. Your list of wishes aligns with my selection criteria very closely.

Here is my list for HFT scope selection:
1. FFP, since I use ballistic calculator having FFP saves a lot of confusion and headache.
2. 16x-20x MAX. Due to FFP changes the reticle size 16-20x FFP at 14x gives most usable reticle size. Also scopes range better at or near the max magnification
3. Biggest objective lens possible, most at 40-50 but 56mm would be better. Bigger the objective lens the narrower the depth of field and better at ranging. This aligns with your S3 base as it has unusually large objective lens for the main tube size and magnification but glass is on par with coke bottle. Lower magnification(below 20x) almost never comes with 56mm objective lens, which is why I think getting the “perfect” HFT scope to my liking is almost impossible or at least VERY expensive.

For me in HFT the rest of your list like turrets are personal preference as you don’t touch them. In the lower price point I found the old element helix 6-24 does an admirable job especially at the price point. On the high end the S6 might work but MOA only right now. The new element titan 3-18 might work out well too, but haven’t had the chance to try one but I’m tempted to for other reasons.

Lastly, the problem with high end scopes is they are not made for this quirky requirement of HFT use case and have way too much magnifications. Even looking at March’s and other tier 1 scopes at north of $4000 price point, I still can’t pick one to use for HFT. Which makes a perfectly awesome excuse for me and my wallet, what did they say about the journey vs the destination again?😅

Tunged a Blonde Beech

Benjamin sent me a stock with scratches. I used a razor blade to scratch off the thin & terrible looking finish and then followed up with sandpaper 180g. (It was this dry method vs Citristrip. Glad I did this dry)

This process revealed a beautiful beech wood stock with the tightest grain I’ve seen on a piece of wood. I did 3 100% Tung oil applications, doing a UV open air cure on the last thin coat of tung oil. This produces the hardest finish I’ve discovered with just a nice glow sheen.

N/A  Weihrauch HW97K Synthetic

I Can’t speak for HFT , but for hunting and pests the HW97K .177 will take rabbits and other small animals / Birds no problem at closer ranges -I have both .177 and .22 and while different they both are good. I generally shoot my .177 mostly inside 25 yards, and have taken plenty pests out with both calibers. View attachment 578573

I prefer a wood stock, but got I to admit I shoot the synthetic stocked HW97 better than my other HW97’s.
NEED A GUN TO SHO UP TO 50 YARDS WILL THEY WORK?

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP 177 IT IS PLUS WEIGHT FOR THE UPGRADE WHEN THE GUN NEEDS IT KEITH1

What did you do airgun related today.

Installed the Snowpeak trigger guard on my Zelos. Hopefully this leads to a bit more consistency as my zelos came with the bottle/barrel band with picatinny rail.

Also identified that if you forget your cleaning straw in your barrel and proceed to fire a pellet through the rifle, the straw acts like a sabot. Zero accuracy at mach Jesus, and will punch straight through a warehouse loading dock door. 10/10 would not recommend.

Please show me your wall rack

Hello guys. Im looking for a wall rack for my rifles. Is there any one can give some recommendation?
I need it can hold 480cc bottle, budget friendly and easy to purchase.
Thank you.
Installed this rack last winter - bought off Amazon on Sale :).
Used 2"x 6" pine and wedge anchors to attach to cement wall.

New to Me Chinese Air Rifle

Hello flagger,
How is your chinese machine doing?
I just received one, almost identical, as a gift, and I'm looking for more details on it.
Any tips or details about your experience will be very much appreciated!
Hello,
I still do have mine and shoot it ever so often. I did remove the rear sights as seen in the pictures as my eyes require a scope to be mounted.
I find this rifle to be surprisingly accurate. I tried a few different pellets, and this rifle seems to like the Crosman Domed Ultra Magnum 10.5 GR.
I still have no idea what the button on the bottom of the fore grip is for. See pictures. I think it should have something to do with the bear trap mechanism, but this button does absolutely nothing whether it is depressed or not, and the gun cocks and shoots fine either way.
Does your rifle have this button? Does it do anything?
There is a lot of information on this bear trap mechanism about sticking your fingers in the loading area. Be careful on this. I have never had an issue but never say never. I keep my fingers out of there and load it with a large bent nose tweezers and that works well.
I tried to get some information on a date made but could not find much.
Is yours a side lever cocking like mine?
My wood is in very good condition and the grain is also not too bad.
Could you please post some pictures for us to see? That would be helpful. Maybe that way others may give us some more information on these guns.
ENJOY!!

HW/Weihrauch  Stainless HW guys

Those of you fortunate enough to own both a weihrauch in the standard bluing and another in stainless. Which finish do you prefer? Thanks!
Blueing!
Because Stainless Weihrauch's in .20 are out of production at the moment.
If Weihrauch wants introduce .20 to the stainless line up, then I would be more likley to pull my wallet out! 😁

Spring piston rifle scope not holding zero

@Byahkin - Might be a good time to upgrade your scope and rings.

This a decent scope that is springer rated

One piece Leapers mount

Springer vs pcp

That’s cool. You were very fortunate to get that angle for the kill shot.
I know, in my experience, you rarely get that opportunity when the critter lines up just right and the crosshairs are on the right spot.
Well done.
Yes sir that took work! I spent a few nights figuring out exactly which direction he was coming from and then I had to make my own blind using a tent’s green rain fly and some pine boughs… then I had to spend 4 nights freezing my a$$ off hiding in that blind before I got him… definitely a powder burner would have been way easier but even though I live on 6 acres it’s technically still town so no shooting allowed.

I still agree with your point though. I just wanted to point out that the power level of an airgun is only limiting if you’re not willing to find ways of mitigating that factor.
