Thermal Optics for Hunting

The thermal lens should not be pointed at high intensity heat sources. Its not good for it. So no staring at fires or the sun. I use my thermals about equal day and night. I have had around 40k in thermal fun in my lifetime. Never had any issues. If you are in a position where the sun is beaming directly into the lens of the optic then that is not good. I wouldnt be worried about using it during the day as long as you follow those few rules. I could be wrong on the DNT stuff although they should all be the same. I use mine day and night and I've had 3 thermnights so far. No issues yet but im also in the woods mostly. See if @brawler1588 will pop in and clear it up for us.

For you hand pumpers, how often do you change the moisture filter?

Ok so I should definitely check then I’ve probably filled at least 5x or more but I assumed they were lasting a lot longer. Glad I asked. Ty
You are probably fine, but it’s good to ask others. I just like to check things in stages before I get to the “oh crap” time.

Spotted Lantern Flies

A man, yeah, those bugs are bad news. I have tons of Trees of Heaven (so nasty, I call them Trees of hell) on my property (preferred host, but now they are going after the grapes and maples) They are all over, when a gust of wind comes, they come down like snow, took an airsoft gun to 'em, that was fun... then I got a pneumatic spray bottle with 72% alcohol to 1/3 part of weed eater fuel... bug busting flame thrower it, it also takes care of wasps, grass, and all sorts of other bugs and things. It also blasts ant hills very well, for anyone living in the Deep South.

Still shooting JSBs???

AEA pellets have given me a couple 200s this year in the 30 yard challenge. I shot 18.3s in my 22 caliber Bullshark. I shot 21.9s in my P35-22. I started with a little 250 count in in both cases and had a 200 before I finished the tin. The replacement 21.9s seems to shoot just like the initial small tin. But the larger tin of 18.3s I'm shooting right now are not shooting nearly as well. Upper 180s and an occasional 190+ instead of pretty consistent 195 plus. I think FX 18.1s would out shoot this tin. I need to try the other large tin of 18.3s. I tried sorting the first one for head size and it did not fix it.

I still like AEA pellets. I bought some more small tins of 18.3s and they seem to shoot well like the first small tin. But I wish I didn't buy 500 and possibly 1000 so-so AEA pellets. I have not had this happen with H&N or JSB pellets. But I haven's had any H&N or JSB shoot this consistently well.

I've been shooting H&N 18s in my Caiman. I think they shoot a little better than AEA 18.3s (not sure which tin, probably the new so-so one). But I decided to try AEA 21.9s. This gun did not like heavier JSB or H&N pellets. But it seems to really like the AEA 21.9s. Still need to try it on a 30 yard challenge target.

What are everyone's thoughts on the GX Filter?

That came out of the compressor. I don’t have the filter YET so I am pumping whatever that crap is into my gun and bottle. The gun comes apart on a regular basis but I won’t take the bottle apart. Most of the water separates out but not all of it.

N/A  Lightweight pcp for squirrel hunting

Uhhh, ok? And a disco ain't a Pinty. Those discos were sweet even from the factory outta the box. Pity they stopped making them. Folks hold on to those like they solid gold. Can't say I blame them at all
I just searched dinty, and it reminds me of AMT (iykyk) . One looks like a scaled down airforce which is a cool concept and the other looked kind of like a wildcat or matador. You have me curious now

Know your quarry - Merlin Bird ID

When I was into the bird photography, I had always wanted to find a Pileated Woodpeckers nest and try to get some pics of them feeding the young ones in the nest. I used to walk for miles in the woods trying to follow them to find an active nest. Around here it's very hard to find an active nest in a rural area....it took me 5 years and I finally found one and got the pics I wanted....:) Here's a couple of the pics I got.......

Silly game

I received my Marauder.22 LW back from AGR last week. Had a ridiculous sinus thing/cold so didn't get to the range. Then Friday fell from a hammock flat on my back. I have a wrecked back already, discs blown, stenosis, etc. So I can't even hold off hand or carry much with out pain.
So I put on the scope, got new offset rings so I can do more comfort.
And now the fun! Since not sighted in,I can just shoot into the weeds in the back.
So I did the 25.4s and they seem very fast. Rich said in the 900's I think.
So I got my lightest crossman 14.3's and found a nice "crack' in the report. So brief super sonic!
Very entertaining! Did a couple and realized may draw attention to me.
Anyone else play with the report for giggles?
I hope next week to get the chrony out and document speed of the usable pellets and maybe a light one or two as well!
Shot cycle is very smooth and is the bolt,he really does fine work.
Yes. And obnoxious ones at that. My friend and I dialed up our fx guns for slugs and learned the pellets could make noise. I have a long barrel and was able to send 23 slugs super sonic and monster redesigns very very supersonic.

The fun was brief as it was spooking the neighbors horses.

How much did I love my cs pump?

Btw, there's no need for a crescent wrench to take the compressor down to that level. This should've been a clue that I'm just having some fun stirring a fan base of a brand. Filling scbas 2 or 3 times a week sometimes to run my nail guns and portable air supply for work needs a lot of air sometimes. 1L/min is what I should've bought to begin with honestly. It's not that the cs was bad, it was just a bad fit for my needs.

PCP Rifle  WTS Silver FX impact mk1 .30/.22

Thinking about selling my MK1 impact to fund a non airgun project, so not interested in trades. Has the 720 power plenum, saber tactical cheek riser, short arca rail and standard TRS rail, forward barrel clamp, solid 600mm smooth twist barrel that is laser accurate with pellets, one high capacity metal .30 mag, heavy hammer spring, M3 cocking assembly, new valve assembly, donnyfl fx mod, 480cc bottle, plus a 700mm .22 barrel, 580cc bottle, .22 probe and mag. Has a huma reg installed and an extra huma reg to go with it as well as a complete o-ring kit. This rifle does not leak and is shooting 44.8gr pellets at 880 with plenty of room to turn up, was shooting them at 965 very accurately and still lots of room to go up. Not interested in separating anything and not in a hurry to sell so price is firm. $1650 plus shipping or $2200 plus shipping with the DNT Zulus V2 5-20x LRF scope with an ADM return to zero base mount. PayPal F&F or Zelle. Have 20 tins of pellets that can be discussed as well. Only possible trade would be for a DNT thermnight 335r.
