Beeman R7(HW30) Vortek Tune

Since the rear spring guide doesn't move during the shot cycle, I doubt whether there should be any difference between the steel or delrin version. There was a HUGE difference in the length of the OEM spring and the Vortek spring however. I noticed that mine is snappier than the original.

Does it imediately load at breaking the barrel to put a pellet in. Mine wants to close as there is so much pre load. Albeit a decent kit I think it’s a tad , to short in coils. I may call Tom and get the same spring in a 3 more coil version.
Un popular as it is to believe shortening springs actually increases the load per coil making them stronger. Using a Top hat to make up the difference in spring coils exacerbates it

Beeman  Beeman r7 in uk

A r7 in the uk is pretty scarce lots of hw30s but the r7 are much nicer .
This particular r7 in 177 had been doing a good job of eating itself suffering from dreadful galing. A comprehensive strip and rebuild was the order of the day .
A cocking arm modification was done including how it’s retained ,got rid of that pin and added a set screw adjuster .the piston was turned down and rear buttons added to the skirt the original spring was good so custom guides made along with top had . Deburr on all slots .seal wise 25mm Brit seal with their breach seal . Rifle is back together and shooting nice very consistent over the chrono @8fpe What’s really nice the rifle was bought with a blue ribbon scope which is excellent. I’m missing the dovetail front sight can’t find one in the uk so hopefully I’ll have better luck searching in the US 🇺🇸 a few pics

GX-CS4-I: Buy from Amazon vs. GX?

I think if you have problems with this kind of compressor it will either be 1) a really simple one in the first few days or weeks. It should be an easy self-repair or 2) A failure in around the 3 year mark of the "major rebuild" variety.

Given that the warrantee covers you for ?4 years? if I'm reading you correctly, I'd probably go with that. If the warrantee was 3 or less years I'd buy direct from GX.
No, the three year Amazon - Assurion warranty covers three years from date of purchase. In year one you can use the GX Manufacturer’s warranty.

it really boils down to an individual’s comfort level in fixing simple vs. “not so simple repairs.” Plus ‘simple‘ for many may not be ‘simple’ for others.

AEA  What factors can explain these results?

Are you allowing for the fact that for every different pellet tried, it might take anywhere from 40 or 50 pellets to a hundred or two to "season" the barrel to a particular pellet? Airguns have idiosyncrasies that are different from firearms. Then again, some guns are less finicky.

N/A  I think we need a new caliber among .25 and .30 for hunting and Target shooting

A few years back I was looking for this exact thing. I ended up on the .257 bandwagon. I built a converted disco with a TJ’s 1:14 liner to start but the shot count was low and was single load. I then moved into converting a Winchester 70-35 to the .257 caliber. This was and is much better, after modifying the magazines for the smaller cal. I’m able to fit the 257420 bullets. I get one full mag of 7 shots on a 230bar fill on high power 150 fpe and two full mags when tuned down to 120 fpe.

I’ve come to the conclusion that the .257 is about as close as we air gunners are going to get to the perfect balance of power and BC . If I were to go down this road again, I’d now start with a bulldog ( weren’t available at the time) tune it for the 257420 bullets and be happy.

If there is a demand for such a large insert, the TS can live again. How long and how wide an extension beyond the stock casing do you want. Or can you tolerate.

TorqueMaster would be the guy doing the prints.
Can you post the new Notos moderator files?

I have your original Notos mod and it works well enough.
But I need to be really quiet where I live.

N/A  Cheapest option for groundhogs

Why not the Umarex Komplete in .22; around $200.00. It uses 3600 psi Nitrogen cylinders. For the occasional use, it would make sense. The nitrogen cylinders are about $12.00 each, but like you said, you don't want to get into the sport, so just an occasional investment.
I can’t believe I’m actually going to say that gun is a perfect fit for something but I have to agree. It’s perfect for this. You will just have to get proficient enough for a headshot in .22 for sure. You can usually post up on a groundhog hole and wait them out and get pretty close. I killed one with a .22 Airacuda max. One in the head and it went nowhere.

Benjamin  New Pistol

Ordered a custom field target pistol from Airgun Revisions. I have two tins of pellets through it. Added some nice furniture to it today. Amazingly accurate pistol. The 10.3's seem to buck the wind like a .22. Put a Burris 2-7x32 pistol scope on it. Hitting spinners and cans with aplomb in a stiff breeze. Thirty regulated shots. Very satisfied customer.

GX-CS4-I: Buy from Amazon vs. GX?

One of the many things I like about Amazon is the ability to review "old" orders. I don't know exactly how far back you can go but it is well over a year. I think it is several years.

My main reason to post is I ordered a new CS2 today because I messed up the one I purchased earlier this year. I decided to buy it from Amazon for quicker delivery (my YH is down waiting for parts), freedom from tarriff issues, and to get the warranty. That is not my normal practice but I had a thought that tipped me the other way. On Refrigerators and other applicances or even cars, everybody uses them and I just don't think extended warranties work out in the customers favor most of the time. The only reason their cost is affordable is the warranty doesn't get used. But for hobby stuff like an air compressor there are people that will get bored with the hobby and switch to something else. That reduces the risk of a claim. But it isn't me. If God keeps me here for 4 more years I am pretty sure I will still be shooting air guns. So the risk of a claim from me is probably higher than average compressor purchasers. That was my logic.

For $69 three year Amazon-Assurion warranty would be a no brained for me with a Compressor. Especially, since several on this thread have received ‘full refunds’ with their claims.

re. Expensive Appliances and warranties - Jim, I thinks this is a ‘depends’ kind of user experience. As mentioned I have had A&E and Sears service and warranty repair out many times fixing very new refrigerators, Dish washers, Stove tops, Microwaves, washers and dryers. Why? Because the QC on this stuff is just not up to par. YMMV.
