Good story Jay, I enjoy reading about someone getting good accuracy out of an inexpensive air rifle. I have a underlever XS46U that new is $135. I got mine for $125 and it was tuned. I am getting dime size groups at 40 yds. Another example of not spending $500 plus to get a serious shooter.

I am with AJ, I weigh using a 0.10 mean and then use the pelletgage to head size. I think its a must if your serious about shooting ranges past 25yds. I got my scale off of Amazon and it does measure in grains and is very accurate here is link ...

I really like my pelletgage, has been a great tool for my pellet testing thread "Size does matter" I dont force mine through but do a little wiggle with light pressure. It surprised me to find the variation in head sizes I have found in all brands I have tested so far.

I worked for Navy Arms back in the early 90's. I was designated the Mauser guy. I unpacked, cleaned and test fired 10's of thousands of mausers over a several yr period. Approximately 1 in every 75-100 guns had a scope. These were wwii new surplus from South America, still packed in cosmoline...
