Hi Mike and tks buddy. This had me scratching my head rather vigorously. I have been very careful to rest my rifle in the Caldwell fieldpod cradles the same every shot. The "Harmonics" never came to my mind, but it now makes complete sense. If I was to change how I rested the rifle in the...
I have a Flying Dragon XS46U that was tuned by Mike at Dragon. It is an underlever springer that shoots H&N FTT 8.64gr pellets at 870fps. I am getting dime size groups at 40yds. I am going to shoot out to 55yds this weekend. I would put it up against any other springers. Total price new with...
Good story Jay, I enjoy reading about someone getting good accuracy out of an inexpensive air rifle. I have a underlever XS46U that new is $135. I got mine for $125 and it was tuned. I am getting dime size groups at 40 yds. Another example of not spending $500 plus to get a serious shooter.
I am with AJ, I weigh using a 0.10 mean and then use the pelletgage to head size. I think its a must if your serious about shooting ranges past 25yds. I got my scale off of Amazon and it does measure in grains and is very accurate here is link ...
I really like my pelletgage, has been a great tool for my pellet testing thread "Size does matter" I dont force mine through but do a little wiggle with light pressure. It surprised me to find the variation in head sizes I have found in all brands I have tested so far.
Got the Crosman premier lights 7.9gr, unfortunately most the box is 4.54mm. But did get some 4.53 & 4.52mm. They chrono at 903fps average and shoot around a dime size group at 35 yds. But, at 15yds there grouping around 3/8" lower than the H&N FTT 8.64gr that chrono at 870fps. At 35yds there...
AJ, you must of read my mind. I have the cpl 7.9gr domed and the JSB 8.4gr domed on order and if it dont start raining again today I am going to shoot some of the crosman hp 7.9gr.. and shoot the H&N FTT at 55yds to see if they keep grouping as well at the longest range I will be shooting in FT...
Sorry for delays yall. Between unpacking from moving, working, weather and trying to fit in a bit of trout fishing. My testing is suffering, I hope to get some more .177 pellets tested soon. Then I will start on the .22 tests. Mouse YW, AJ tks :)
Yes, I have always enjoyed testing different loads etc with my PB rifles/pistols. I am currently shopping for a good quality pellet sizer, any suggestions ?
I worked for Navy Arms back in the early 90's. I was designated the Mauser guy. I unpacked, cleaned and test fired 10's of thousands of mausers over a several yr period. Approximately 1 in every 75-100 guns had a scope. These were wwii new surplus from South America, still packed in cosmoline...
More testing the past few days. 40 and 45 yd results. H&N FTT 8.64g, the 4.52 and 4.53mm head size are giving me 10 shot groups smaller than a dime. 4.51mm have opened up to a group the size of a nickel. Results are the same with the Crosman 10.5g, but the gun is definitely more hold sensitive...
I got to spend some more time in between upacking (amazing how much stuff you can accumulate in a short time) I have not found a certain brand pellet mine does not like, but it is very picky about pellet head size. I got to do some 40 and 45yd shooting and the H&N FTT 8.64g in a 4.52 and 4.53mm...
Mos, you and I both were on the fence for a good while trying to decide which underlever to buy. I almost bought a TX200 and I am now glad that I bought the XS46U. The more I shoot it the more I am impressed. For $235 fully tuned and shipped, you cannot beat it !! The accuracy of the XS is...
Wow, I read that this was going to happen a few days ago. I had no idea of the depth it would go. This is not just a USA thing its world wide. 1. I want to know all the names (businesses) that are involved so I can boycott them just like I have UA for their support of anti hunters. 2. Sorry to...
Got to shoot my XS more this weekend in between unpacking (just moved) . The more I shoot and test this rifle the more impressed I am. Mike at Dragon is obviously a "Wizard" of airguns. H&N FTT 8.64gr 4.52mm @ 35yds is giving me a 10 shot group less than a dime in size. I am shooting off a...
FishNChips I have found that my springer likes pellets in the 4.51 - 4.53mm head size. Don't count on ordering H&N FTT pellets and getting the size you ordered. I ordered two different size tins of FTT and the spread in head sizes was from 4.47mm - 4.55mm in both tins. I ordered 4.51 and 4.52mm...
Got to do a bit more testing yesterday between unpacking (just moved) I am out of the JSB RS 7.33g 4.52mm so I was shooting the 4.49 and 4.50mm at 35 yds. groups were quarter size. Then I shot the H&N FTT 8.64g 4.52mm groups smaller than a dime, but most interesting thing was that the poi of...
