Your Favorite Airgun Reviewer?

ROFLOL! That is so funny, someone who doesn't know who Ted is! You've got a lot to learn "young man" hahaha!
Not your fault as you can't know "everything", (try not to be offended please) but Ted is one of the big (I mean B I G ! ) guru's of long range PCP airgun hunting scopecamming and testing! Ted's Holdover (used to be EdgunUSA) on UT

As for the reviewers, the ones that come immediately to mind: Ted, Giles (=airgun gearshow), Michael Kaye (=Replica airguns),(= for the CO2 thingies), Airgun TV, Paul Capello (=AirGun Reporter), Matt Dubber (=AirArmsHuntingSA)

I like the guys who are not sponsored, as they have nothing to lose by being 100% honest. (telling the WHOLE truth)

There are a lot of them, but they are not famous, as their production quality is usually just adequate.

Of the sponsored ones, I like

Hal, Ted was the about the first one (I know of) to make PCP airguns in general, and bullpup PCPs in particular, really popular. It started with his (then) exotic Edgun Matador bullpup rifle and him shooting starlings and pigeons at ungodly distances with really nice slo-mo scopecam footage:
https://www.youtube.com/user/EdgunUSA
http://www.tedsholdover.com/

He was constantly being reported for his graphic slo-mo kill shots and has had to tone them down so as not to have his videos removed. After that, he launched his own website and puts the uncensored videos there. (they're still hosted on YouTube, but are Unlisted, so the furry pest-lovers don't stumble upon them and go mental)

Now, he doesn't do much any more. He says he does it for fun and only does it when he thinks it's fun and when he doesn't have important family matters to attend to.

Well gentlemen...thanks for the education! I salute your Ted!

But not being a Hunter, I have no need for buckets of Muzzle Energy, but I do know the PCP can do the job on anything short of Cape Buffalo and Rhino!

I actually owned a PCP once, and used it for what I called "destructive plinking". I sold it because I didn't feel right crediting all that power to my local Fire Department's air compressor instead of my own muscle.

I'm satisfied with a .22 Springer with a 50-pound cocking effort giving 21-27 FPE for my casual plinking needs, thank you!

Anyway, my favorite reviewers are Paul Capello and Rick Eutsler. (With no fluff.)

Cheers,
SpringerHal

I've lost some respect for some of the sponsored guys. Won't go into it. However I never miss a Mat Dubber video. He's pretty honest I believe. And his videos are the best hands down.

My interest in airguns began with some guy on you tube ( fairly big time powder burner channel ) shooting a Hatsan. I was impressed. Started researching and quickly figured out who is making the best guns. Ended up with a Wildcat and I still can't see much better out there in the style of airgun I like.

I like Kenny from the you tube channel "myairgunreviews" mainly cuz he reviews cheap rifles that I am likely to own. I have found his info accurate and unbiased.

Lol, I just noticed Jimbo mentioned Kenny as well /\

I find Rick to be a tad whiney about Crosman triggers, so much so that it takes away from his ability to overlook that factor on Crosman reviews that he cant objectively give an accurate review on the rifle itself. we all know the triggers on Crosmans need the bearing fix to be good. That being said I still watch his reviews and gain knowledge from him on other makes.

I was debating on whether to post this, but I will and feel free admins to remove it if it breaks the rules or taste. I do not want to offend.

Interesting thread and as much as I love these reviewers, they tend to be biased when guns are given to them.

Self plug here, I am no expert or professional and it is what inspired me recently to start a channel.

I won't plug the link here, but a quick search will find it if you are interested.

But : I think I have a man-crush on Ted, he is good and I really wish he would do more videos.

Guys like Rick Eustler are never critical about any of the guns they review, and most reviews I've seen are like "this is how it looks, this is how you load a pellet, this is how it shoots, and it's accurate", full stop. That limy dude from Airgun Gearshow is funny as hell, I like him but again, his reviews aren't really critical also. Guys like Ted on the other hand review airguns from a perspective that really appeals to me. Although he's not exceptionally critical, the guns he reviews he uses in the field for long periodes of tine, so I do value his opinion more than those guys who get payed by the manufacturers. In the firearms and gear department, Nutnfancy has critical and great in depth reviews! I wish he'd do some airguns now and then. Oh, and we're forgetting our South African friend Matt, love his vids!

Here are some I view on a regular basis:

Love, love Ted's and Matt's videos with the nod going to Ted. His "NATURAL" enthusiasm and engaging self-effacing humor are just INFECTIOUS! Not a pretentious bone in the bodies of either one of these talented videographers. A SOLID honorable mention going to, Giles, our most engaging friend across the pond. Not really in the category of 'Reviewer" per se, but he can always be counted on to introduce us to the latest and greatest with his own unique fun filled flair.

You guys. The people who would have the same or a similar buying experience to me if I bought the gun. I.e. People without fame who order anonymously from a web store like I would and receive one picked at random from the shelf.

Most importantly, people who are allowed to tell me the bad as well as the good so I get a balanced and honest opinion. That's why I trust you guys. There is limited value to me in a review that raves about a product when I know they aren't allowed to say anything that might effect sales negatively.

What the pro reviewers produce are paid infomercials like you get on home shopping channels on cable. Some of them have an entertaining style and some are informative at times but they aren't "reviews". They are the airgun equivalent of "buy this amazing wonder knife that never gets blunt. But wait there's more, order now and we'll throw in this free toaster ($59.95 value) and a lifetimes supply of toast, just pay shipping and handling ($2.95 per slice) all for the bargain price of $19.95. But hurry, this won't last long. Our staff are waiting to take your call..."
