You think you get upset....

I went nuts today...
Went out to shoot a few targets ...
Only to knock over all my pellets to the floor...
I had 2 tins worth, 1,000 pellets...in one compartment storage box..
But... the bad thing is..... I had all the pellets seperated by head size...using the Pelletgage....

No more compartment case/storage boxes for me.... each size will get its own container...
Took a very long time to size these.....
Please don't make this mistake...... it is very upsetting... believe me...just learn from dummies like me

a little secret that i have seen NONE of you do that I have been doing for many years. SHARPIE> -.. --- -. -.- .. . ... I like to mark my heads with various color SHARPIES> I keep a box of every color they make and when it comes time to shoot or I am asking someone to help me by loading a rifle. I call out a color to them. Makes any 'dumps' super easy to clean back up and re sort in a few minutes vs hours.

This does NOT change the weight, size, shape, or anything else other than color. Takes a second more to 'swipe' a line or actually color the whole head.

Do what makes sense, not what's convenient.

Another little tool i like to use is the Plano 3640 Waterproof Guide boxes. Trick is when I open them up, I take a few of what I need and then either close all 3 sides, or if I am going to be shooting out of the box, I will close 1 latch and set a few on the surface of the lid as my staging spot.

And when I want something for woods walking to keep in a small pack/ bag ->

I store all my tins of pellets in these. I remove (not install) the 2 dividers normally. ->

I take some left over foam from my pelican cases and cut to size to stop them from rattling around and damaging the skirts. Or just take what I want and put it in a tin with foam for the day. The containers just make short work of the sorting and organization. I then use a Lablemaker and put the appropriate weight and such on the top of the lid over the respective compartment. Clear label background and black lettering. ////////////////

I just got my very first order of pellets yesterday from PA and they come in those cool doughnuts.

I checked the mail on the way out to the city, so being excited I pulled the tape off my Exacts and opened them in the car. Oooohhhhhh aaaahhhhhhhh and I put them away.

Got home that night and went to pull them from the doughnuts and pulled the one I pulled the tape from upside down and spilled everyone of the 500 onto the floor.

Thankfully they werent sorted or anything like that, but it was embarrassing. I wasn't going to share, but since you did...

First off sorry to say I did snicker a bit when I read that but my heart felt a tad heavier at the same time (w/all that work down the drain ).

Second... I have never attempted an scientific or non-scientific test on pellet sizing but to say "pellet sizing affects accuracy is weak to nonexistent" because of #12 whom shows no data.
Now there are many variables that can effect accuracy and we may not be able to correct most of them. Though we can control head size and weight and if that can make just a smug of a difference than why the heck not do it if want to perfect your game. (if you have the mind numbing time to do it) Hell they have been doing it for years for competitions so there has to be a reason why they are willing to go all zombie for 10'-100 hours doing it. lol
