Yong heng Temperature

Mine stabilises in the low to mid-fifties, depending on the season and ambient temperature. If you use a large enough bucket, more than 3 gallons, you shouldn't need to change the water. If it goes over 65 and the water Isn't very hot, I would be finding out why. With mine, the temperature rises quickly but once it hits it's operating temperature, it doesn't get any hotter.

Mine tops out at 55 under no load. I only use it to fill my guns and it is usually only 1 minute run time and then the hottest I ever reached (on a 90 deg day) was 48. I always leave the water pump on after shutting down and the temp falls off pretty quickly. Oh and dont touch the SS tubes as they will burn pretty bad (ask me how I know). Been thinking about trying to fit the tubes with cooling fins like my shop compressors have.

After researching and getting cryptic responses from both the Yong Heng and Tuxing people, plus personal experience, here is my recommendation. Obviously keep the temp as low as possible. As long as the temp is under 60 C, no issues at all. Up to 65 C, I keep a closer watch on it, but not s serious concern. From 65 to 70 C, it’s a constant watch and I’m concerned. If it gets over 70 I’m shutting it down. The highest I’ve had my two cylinder Tuxing is 63 C, and that was after topping off 3 large SCBA tanks on a very warm day, about 40 minutes continuous run time.

i put ice in water

I keep seeing guys talking about 15 minute, 20 minute, 40 minute continuous run time. With even 15 minutes of run time I'd be able to top off my Kral PB, Blitz, Priest 2, and MKII Impact and get started on my 18ci carbon fiber tank. I'm unable to achieve 4 minutes of run time without it waving bye bye to 60c on its way to 65 and beyond. I've never let it exceed 65 while running and I'm using water with ice for the coolant. I purchased it new and it has never been able to run more than a handful of minutes. I keep the coolant lines clean and change the harbor freight compressor oil when it becomes noticeably dark. Any thoughts, suggestions, 404 errors of the brain?

@TheReprobate, first of all, no need to change the oil if it looks dark - it'll look dark after only a few minutes of runtime. Secondly, I also experienced accelerated temperature increases after only a few minutes, even when using ice in the 5 gallon bucket. I tried a fan at the a$$ end of the unit and saw little improvement - UNTIL - I started using a fan with more oomph! I had a 4" duct fan laying around from another project and started using it. That made a huge difference. It had a high velocity of air concentrated right on the end of the Yong Heng. I've also started using a rather low tech method of water cooling - I use two 5 gallon buckets and when one begins heating up I simply switch the pump and return hose over to the bucket with the cooler water. This has been working for me so far - but then again, it's not yet full-fledged summer in central Texas yet!

@MikeAllen thank you for the suggestion I don't have a duct fan but I do have a pretty powerful floor fan that I can use to help with cooling. I will try that and the two bucket method and see how that works. now, if i could just do something about all this blasted wind in Nebraska...

My YH is at 27c-30c when not in use. I got it 2nd hand. When I first got it, the oil was clear after filling a gun from 2000psi to 3000psi the oil was dirty. Also the temp was right around 58c when it got to 3000psi. I am using the standard water pump and 4 gallons of tap water in a 5 gallon bucket. I really didn't feel much of a temperature change in the bucket of water after the fill. I am new at this. I have a SCBA tank with a year left on it and wanted to try something different. Really don't want to inconvenience a friend who has a compressor capable of filling my scba. Any how, I drained all the oil out, then replaced with Amsoil full synthetic 100 this is the only compressor oil that I could find with the 100 rating. I filled 2 guns from 2000psi to 3000psi. This time I used about 3 gallons of water plus a 3/4 gallon block of ice. I let it sit for a few minutes to get all the water cold. Plugged in the water pump and it was in the mid teens celcius wise. It still got hot though around 58c. I don't dare to let it get past 65c. After shutting it off the Temps drop pretty quickly with the water pump still running. What surprised me the most was the oil is still pretty clean and the odor wasn't as strong as the original oil that was in there. I did all this indoors, I have nosey neighbors. My only real issue is now finding a place to shoot.
