Yong Heng Died

After serving me well for over 3 years, my Yong Heng bit the dust yesterday. Seems to be an electrical component issue as I could see arcing inside the clear cover of the component that houses the points setup when it was stumbling and then it fully stopped. I'll probably take it apart and look for a solution but I have another compressor now. The YH was well worth the cost in my case.

Three years is a good lifetime for one of these if it is used regular. Sounds like maybe a fix is in the making? If not you already got your monies worth anyway.

Going on two years, about thirty hours, with my new one. I retired it's predecessor as it had one of the original piston sets in it and was overdue for a failure. I have a replacement piston so when I need it I have another Compressor ready to go. Still, my heart is set on an Alkin and someday in the, not so distant, future I will hopefully have one. Not that I need it I just want it.

Out of curiosity, do you know how many hours you have on it?

I generally topped off my GW tank every week (usually to around 4400). About 10 minutes per, so roughly 10 hours per year run time over 3+ years. Maybe 30 to 35 hours, possibly a bit more.

take the cover off and check the wire solder points. I have seen the solder break loose from vibrations. Re-soldered and she ran like a champ

Yep, something I will eventually check. As noted, I could see arcing across the points inside the clear plastic container housing that unit, but checking all connections is something I will do.
