Yong heng bleed valve system

I would like to know if going to top up my tank from my yong heng which has 2 oil water seperators would it be safer to add a bleed valve system before the oil water seperator or after the seperator connecting to the bottle. I have seen some where its been after the seperator just before connecting to the bottle is this the safest way. Also which would be the best way to add a bleed valve any thoughts would be most appreciated and links to parts more so. I have found 2 bleed valves but still needs someones opinions who have done this mod.

Dont know the lay out of your system but here is mine: Hose from compressor into Dissicant filter, filter has a one way Foster male on the entrance side. When i bleed the compressor (it's mainly because of water and this way) i do not get blow back.. From the filter (male Foster without one way valve) i connect my fill probe/system wich has a bleed valve (that i use when the bottle is full). That way my filters are only one way.

If you are going to ad a bleed in the line, position it before the filter. You want to drain any condensed liquid before it enters your filtration, one to preserve the media and two there shouldn't be ant moisture upstream anyway. I'm adding a bleed with a check valve at the compressor outlet block for those reasons. The check valve allows me to shut down and restart without depressurising, using the bleed on the compressor. The bleed before the line lets me purge any moisture in there that would otherwise get sucked into the filter when bleeding at the bottle. I also use a check and bleed at the bottle in case something blows or leaks downstream resulting in a loss of all stored air. This is the one that I will be using before the filter. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000125018554.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.54294c4dBSezsy I have ordered the basic version and I have a male QD plug with a non-return insert that can be bought from the same or other suppliers for a couple of bucks. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32829057845.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000014.25.74c54584ScIk4A&gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.13338.128125.0&scm_id=1007.13338.128125.0&scm-url=1007.13338.128125.0&pvid=d5413c57-031d-474f-9632-fe7b49211dec BTW, if you aren't using stop valves, none of this is necessary. The bleed on the compressor is more than adequate to purge the system. There is nothing wrong with letting air flow back through the filter/filters.

The Yong Heng has bleeder valves in the correct place and they werq quite well. Eaglebeak's suggestion makes sense but if your filter is higher than your compressor, which it should be, there shouldn't be much in the way of moisture there. I would suggest if you are worried about moisture that you make sure to open the purge valves every 3-5 minutes, while running the compressor, for a second to purge any moisture. Then take the tiny YH filter out every 10 to 20 minutes of run time, set it aside to dry, and put another filter in. Next time put the filter you set out to dry back in. It's a very easy thing to do saves filters and keeps trace amount of moisture out of your tanks/guns.

So guys what your saying is move my filters and put them higher than my compressor or just move the comperssor and put it on the floor. So what I would probably do is move the filters and attach them on the back wall so they are higher than the compressor. What I need then is a inline bleed valve and connect it before my filters just running from the connection from my tank. So i can purge the air from the gold filter and bottle line then purge the rest from the compressor. So if your saying I need a one way check where on my setup would that be put and also do you have a link to a oneway check and bleed valve guys thx for your comments.

moisture / water will go up no matter where your filter is placed

the inner diameter of these hoses are really small

i would attach a small filter direct on to the compressor to have a first barrier for oil

less oil in your bigger filters will keep the molecular sieve / active charcoal more effective!

i had a check valve in my yh after the last bleed valve (factory made at first i was not aware of it) but the o-ring fell apart and i did not replaced it for good reason (on my opionion)

if my tank is full, i turn off the compressor, close the tank valve and open the second bleed valve and all the remaining air in the filters flushes backwards through the bleeding valve and a ton of moisture is coming out (after longer runs more)

you dont need extra bleed valve, just use the one on the yh itself and put a oneway check valve between the last filter and your scba.

I bleed every 3 mins and use two filters(black then gold).

the black only has the cotton media and it usually only has moisture halfway through it after 15mins.

If you are going to install a non-return valve anywhere in your system, you will need a bleed upstream or you will find that you can't uncouple anything. The op is not using an SCBA tank and the SCUBA valve in the picture does not appear to have a bleed. I may be wrong because I can't see it clearly. If the SCUBA tank valve does have a bleed, why is he asking if he should add one? The set up that he has now will work fine. Adding check and bleed valves will just insure against losing a tank full of air if something bursts or leaks and at the other end allows the pump to be shut down and restarted without having to drain and repressurise the lines and filters, causing more wear and tear. I install mine at the tank and at the pump outlet because that's where, I believe, they will be the most effective.

So what your saying guys get a oneway check valve add it from the compressor just underneath the black filter then after the 2 filters add a bleed valve. Or do you guys think my setup is ok has it is or do you think it just needs a oneway check. Also guys can you give me a step by step walkthrough on how to fill a dive tank properly using my system. Has you have suggested bleed the system a little every 5 to 10 mins. Has you may tell im new to all this so would like to hear from you guys which have experience with these and know what works and what doesn't. So let me know thanks guys much appreciated for all your help.

I think that you are going to have to work this out yourself. I have tried to explain to you in a very simple way the reasons for why and where to install and left links to things I use myself. If you don't understand the advice I have given you, there is no point going any further. You have to work out why you need to add these things. Once you understand why you think you need these accessories, then you'll have a better idea of where to position them. The setup you have now will be just fine until you have a better understanding of what you want to achieve and to find the right fittings which is another can of worms. Asking for advice on this forum will only confuse you more unless you have a basic understanding of what you are playing with.
