Yes! My FX Impact Compact is a backpackable gun

Good morning everyone, before starting work my mind had to settle something.

Can my FX Impact Compact fit into the backpack I would use for hunting?

The backpack is an Osprey 50 L backpack with a low profile and perfect for an overnight or two backpack and ideal for a long day of hunting when that day comes in spring summer as planned now for USA and Chile.

Also, as the photo shows below, my Osprey backpack is hunter color friendly, IMHO. The gun comes in at 25” / 635mm and so easy to load everything from point a point works.

Plus the design and quality of the Osprey means it can easily handle the 8 1/2 / 3.9 kg weight of the Impact plus other gear a lesser backpack could not, aka making it easier on me to manage the load.

Thanks guys, and I looked at the Crown Continuum, but didn’t want to wait forever, and I saw this Impact compact available so I decided to get it. I also looked at the Dreamline Compact like my buddy has, but then I looked at power and shot count without sacrificing really length. After the later it was an easy choice and the Impact makes for perfect travel gun with an extra barrel.

Well, I hope it does, and I guess i am fortunate enough to already have the backpack for a few years

My backpacking plans in Sweden didn’t work out this year because of covid 19. The last time it was really used was in January when a friend borrowed it for a 2 week trip in Africa for NYE and she paid to give as good as new cleaning :D And I do need to use it more.

Nice!

On the Impact I think most of it is luck. It was the 7th week since I put in my order for the FX Crown Continuum in 22 cal, so I started looking at options. I saw some different options, called up the local dealer I was working with, and asked him if he could get me this Impact Compact in .22. The distributor had one left and there it is, so I got the Impact and cancelled the order for the Crown. Just to note, I got the one I wanted, bronze and it was the first Impact Compact the dealer had seen in bronze, most people want black.

However, on my outdoor clothing and some of my other gear I do have connections or use to that got me a discount through friends in the outdoor clothing industry, or professional mountaineers I knew. Or I hit the outlets when I don’t need the clothing and if I see a deal I buy it. As a result of the two former reasons combined my friends say I look like a walking Patagonia clothing & equipment commercial. 🤣🤣🤣

Count me in too!

At first, I just wanted to get the shorter 500mm 0.25 barrel for my Impact and was skeptical about going with the smaller 300cc bottle because all of the pictures I'd seen made it look pretty ugly and so disproportionate to the rest of the rifle . . . or so I thought. I originally kept the 480cc bottle on and used the skinnier DonnyFL Koi since the 480cc bottle extended beyond the end of the 500mm barrel. I was even thinking about putting the 580cc bottle on just to see what that would look like.

But out of curiosity, I decided to try the 300cc bottle on . . . and it looks WAYYYY better in person. Slapped the Tatsu on it for now and it looks pretty sweet. Total length is just under 29" from end to end. The Sumo also looks good on it but adds a couple more inches. Didn't get a chance to shoot it yet with the Tatsu to see how loud it would be; will go to the Sumo if it needs more suppression. But I'm very pleasantly surprised how nice the Compact configuration looks! I'll probably need to go with a slightly smaller scope in this configuration!
