Yellow Jacket Hive and My Accurate AA TX-200 MK3

While walking my dog up and down my driveway, I discovered a Yellow Jacket Hive dangling over the center of my driveway about 25-30 feet high and hanging from a branch about a 1/4" in diameter.
Then, I discovered a second hive just off my driveway and in the woods also dangling from a tiny branch about 15-20 feet off the ground.Earlier in the day I had been shooting my Air Arms TX-200 MK III in .22 caliber . . . so I made the decision to try and knock down the hive centered over my driveway.I moved as close to the hive as possible, but not so close that I couldn’t get away quickly if I had to. I was 30 feet from the hive and shooting up at the hive which was about 25–30 feet up in the trees. I used Predator PolyMags pellets, and my Caldwell Magnum Deadshot Fieldpod Tripod, extended all the way in height. I chose the Polymags thinking they would do the most damage to the hive walls, and the small branch I was trying to rip apart.

My first shots hit the hive . . . the Yellow Jackets started to get active. My next 3-4 shots did the most damage and I could see through my scope that the branch had been splintered by one of my shots . . . and then, on my next few shots, the hive came crashing down. .

When it became dark I went out to the hive and sprayed it with 3 cans full of Wasp Foam Killer. Now, I have to deal with the second hive. Maybe, I’ll use my Pro Sport next time! Thanks for looking.FredSG
