Van and Ben sent me enough info to type up a match report, so here it is. I was not present personally, but it'd be great to hear some thoughts from those that shot yesterday (first-hand accounting of experiences always better).
Man, October had a bunch of airgunning here in the Southwest! With EBR on the second weekend, some N50 matches, the Founders Cup put on by Airgunners of Arizona up north, an XFT match down at Phoenix Rod and Gun Club and I'm sure others that I'm not aware of, lots of opportunities to shoot. And while that's a good thing, it hurt the attendance at the first XFT match of this winter. So, between shooters being EBR'd out, and the Founders Cup (sub 20fpe FT match) on the same Saturday, there were unfortunately, only 5 shooters yesterday. But what they lacked in numbers, it sounds like they made up for in fun. Really wish I could have been in two places at once yesterday!
Before the nitty gritty, just want to share how much ground cover came up with the summer rains there on the slopes of South Mtn. Last year it was rocks and gravel, with only the hardiest of desert scrub brush (but mostly rocks and gravel). Check out what it looks like in this video I was sent!!!

Lost some quality in the download, transfer, upload, but it's very evident that we've got some groundcover to help read the wind!!! Van comments that it looks like shooting on little house on the prairie with all the brush. I love it! (wind reads were TOUGH last winter).

Looks like only pellet class yesterday, and Van was the high shooter. Nice shooting Van!!!
Also had a couple of newcomers. Larry F shot with us over at the Southwest Airgunners matches up at 8200feet just south of Luna, NM last summer. To my knowledge, that was his first couple times shooting FT and now his first time shooting XFT at PRGC. Ben, gotta rib ya a bit here. I know you won EBRs Extreme/American Field Target event with a high score of 37, but Larry just beat you, and with your own gun. LOL, we gotta watch that Larry character, he's already beating past EBR FT winners. And Roger Q is a new name to me, hope to meet you at future matches Roger.
Overall Extreme Troyer score for the match was a 37. For reference, last Feb's course was a 40 and the high that month was 26/40 and last March's course was a 32.6 and the high score that month was a 29/40. There was some colorful comments on how hard Feb's match was last year, so March was made easier. Yesterday's course was (obviously by the 37), somewhere in the middle, as far as difficulty goes.
Not taking into account the 4 offhand shots, the hardest target was a Extreme Troyer of 55.6 (2inch kz @89 yards) and the easiest was a ET of 26.7 (1.5inch kz @ 40 yards).
Offhand shots this month were a 2 inch kz at 26 yards and a 3 inch kz at 46 yards. And the offhand scores are always interesting since they're usually the make or break shots in all flavors of field target.
O= miss and X = hit (near, near, far, far)
Van- OOOX
Kent- OXXX
Larry- OOOO
Ben- OXXX
Van, buddy, you'd have broke 30 if you coulda done just a bit better on the offhand shots.
That's all I've got for now, but many of the "regulars" were up at the Founders Cup yesterday and mentioned they're planning on attending the XFT match in November. So it sounds like we'll have a pretty good turnout next month (4th Saturday for anybody interested).
Grab you gun and start practicing for November!
