Just takes lots of tins of pellets – shoot in all conditions – Heavy winds mild winds -rain etc—-
the only place I’m a bit lite in is LV- -gotta shoot more in that discipline with the 8 grain JSBs -( I think they should condense the classes down to HV and open ) LOL!
But trigger time is the key —
again good shooting Mike ! What weight and brand of pellet were you shooting? And the competition -if you know?
are you going to the extreme in Arizona this year?

Big Congratulations Mike. Awesome shooting. I’m sad you didn’t get pics of the rigs, but seeing you finally get the ever elusive 250 is worth it!

Well then I better order some more pellets!
I was using the JSB Jumbo Heavy 18.13gr straight from the tin…not to sure what the others were using.
I am uncertain on the extreme at this time, I do not think I have the time scheduled off.
Thanks for all the tips and praise

Wow 18 grainers – should really take the wind out of the picture? Give you about 30 ftlbs at the muzzle?
my .22 cal Steyr spits em out at near 40ftlbs MV –
‘had Allen Z install a power adjuster at the rear end – wind never a problem- exept hurricane 😬

I believe the winner of open class at the 2015 Benchrest nationals actually shot at HV power level (Marvin Reynolds).

13.4 gr Monster 177s shot around 800fps (<=20 fpe) have the same or higher BC as heavier 22s.  My .22 28 fpe rifle  is nowhere near as accurate as my HV 177.

So higher power (pellet mass, velocity, etc) does not necessarily translate to less wind effect, nor does it imply that an open class shooter who did well had little wind.

That said some guys tweak their setups, find pellets, etc. I know of at least one competitor who may well win this year’s Open class shooting at Open power level

Great shooting Mike. The closest Ive come is a 246 and that was indoors. Some day, hopefully this winter I’ll get the elusive 250.

Almost any good quality air rifle is capable of this kind of accuracy, if only we could do it every time.  I’m not so sure that “tuners” can make them much better, unless the gun has some serious quality issues.  But the caliber (no pun intended) of stuff that we buy and use for target shooting is pretty good right out of the box.  It’s up to us-the nuts behind the triggers.

Some good looking targets there Paul! I see guys chasing the latest greatest — flavor of the month so to speak–
but in the end – the guy pulling the trigger is the the make or break—
some tuners can tweak out that extra bit of accuracy —- but today’s air rifles have come a long way —

Had planned on shooting a set -also changing from HV to LV – but there just isn’t enough time in the day —
    and the heat and winds

hope to get some time before the weekend to try the LVs

I always post what I shoot on any given day. And today is no exception
terrible winds and rain. Most shots I found myself aiming between the 7 and 8 ring –
but conditions like this are good Pratice for what the matches can throw at yah –
all cards shot with the 13 grain JSBs – HV class –
video of the shooting conditions that these cards were shot in –

card two number 14 got away from me- the gusts changed direction -so quickly —-
    ‘cheers

    Thanks Jimmy!
Was a crazy day- took off early due to the weather- and said Fck it- setup to shoot-I want to try shooting in every possible weather condition -although I think in conditions like
these, the match would probably be called off? I mean at one point I was holding in the 7 ring -high and to the right!
Lots of concentration to make them shots—-
‘but I’m getting exited about going-
got make list of things to bring- soon I’ll need a greyhound bus LOL

Like this one- no not the Garbage truck! 😉
    ‘Peace and TC Grease!

Didn’t get home till late -but wanted to shoot a set – near perfect conditions – light winds from left to right
shooting the Thomas -HV 13 grain monsters
the plastic backer fell off- really makes a difference in the holes —-

Had to turn on the ole HID lamp to finish up
but a 750 with 61 Xs – is ok in my book
still need to get in some Pracrice with them LVs
    cheers
