So this nice old lady who live a few kilometers from me has problems with squirrels in her roof etc. She lives on a small farm and they have 100 pecan nut trees, every here and there a oak tree has sprung up as-well.
I have went hunting there several times but I have been on vacation for a while so their population has really exploded without me taking a few out every now and then.
So this morning I took my Daystate Wolverine B type in .22 and headed down there. As soon as I unpacked there were 3 of them digging around on the big lawn in front of the house. I got down on butt to have a steady aim over my knee and I nailed two of them right there and then. I was quite close to them, only about 25 yards. I made my way through the trees and smacked a few more (nothing special happened).
Suddenly I saw a huge squirrel running towards a massive dead tree (about 50 meters high) It ran up the tree and lay flat on one of the top branches. I had to move away from the tree to be able to get a shot on him. I ended up 52 yards from the base of the tree. I could use a tree stump as a rest and I settled my cross hairs on the base of his ear, suddenly I remembered that on the incline I should aim lover to penetrate the entire brain. I pulled the magnificent trigger and the critter came crashing down.
Super pumped on today's hunt, will certainly be back for more.
I am planning on going on a Dassie (Southern Africa's Rock Chuck) with my dad within the upcoming months. Will let you guys know.
