Wolf moderator...worth the wait!

I haven't posted any reviews, but thought that I would share my experience with a moderator that I bought for my son's Maximus Euro (.177 cal). I bought the unit with 9 baffles (link below). The Maximus Euro is already a relatively quiet air rifle, and I really wanted to see just how quiet it could be without having to spend a fortune.

I purchased the moderator with PayPal after looking for a unit with a 1/2 UNF to fit my "budget" PCP. I got an acknowledgement email the same day as the order. Not a day after my purchase, I found some comments in a few different forums about "lack of responsiveness" and failure to get the product they paid for. I have to admit, it caused me some concern, but there really was nothing to do but wait. Four days after my order, I got a second email that just said the order was "sent," and that was it. About two weeks later, my moderator arrived, carefully packed in a simple brown cardboard tube from Poland. (Confirmation of Wolf Airguns location, since it wasn't readily apparent at the time I ordered where they are located, other than somewhere outside of the US.)

The unit is exactly as described, all aluminum, threaded for 1/2 UNF, black "anodized type" coating, all one piece. It appears to be one single piece, and is not designed to be taken apart (at least from what I can tell). I threaded it onto the barrel of the Maximus, and proceeded to sight-in the rifle at 25 yards. It works flawlessly, and made an already quiet air rifle, almost completely silent! All you can hear is the hammer hitting the valve, and the "thwack" of the pellet hitting the target! I verified that the pellets are clearing the moderator without hitting the exit port, and accuracy is as good as without the moderator on the rifle

For anyone looking to purchase one of these moderators from Wolf Airguns, I would say that it is worth the money and the wait. I did not try to reach Wolf Airguns directly during the process, so I cannot comment regarding their response time to inquiries.

Happy shooting everyone,
Bucky
