Will vent holes in the barrel shroud make the Umarex Origin active?

Maybe better. What guts are in it right now

I drilled the vent holes on the shroud but didn’t notice any change, the big change in sound was using cone shape baffles with a spring. 

The vent holes help keep the shot pressure from the first chamber in the silencer from going back down the barrel.

Not sure what, if any damage the "back" pressure may cause in an air rifle, but the powder burning guys do this to keep burnt powder from fouling the barrel and the rest of the action. Especially when shooting the .22 as dirty as it is to shoot.

Were you using these baffles with a spring on an Origin and if so who makes them or did you make them yourself?

got the spring from home depot 

I have seen the Strip Stak Pak that Hajimoto makes and watched the videos. Appears that the baffles take up all the room in the barrel shroud ahead of the barrel. Did you have to leave out a baffle to get the spring to fit. And what kind of spring did you use and where in the stack did you place it?

I left the spacer out and installed the spring. Bought this kit from Home Depot.

Thanks. Which spring in the Home Depot picture did you use (i.e. the 7th from the left in the second row)? I think I'll try this without drilling the holes in the barrel shroud.

I think it was #6 on the second row, I had to trimmed it though. I don’t have the Origin anymore. Once my avenger was delivered after 4 months on back order, I got rid of the origin. 

Sorry I am so late to this conversation. My original kit was a fixed collar but the newer generation kit comes with a spring to help account for manufacturing tolerances in barrel length and shroud.
