Will a Ataman shoot as good as a Crossman 1720T ?

Ataman's are junky.Has anyone ever won a contest with an Ataman? No.

If your talking about the B-17, mine broke during my review and it threw many 8 inch off flyers, One took out my new $800 cell phone when I was filming with it.

My first Ataman ($1800) arrived with a giant scratch right down the reciever.

2nd Ataman was the B-17

3rd Ataman (Erganomic Model) arrived with the safety hole in the stock drilled off so the safety stuck into the off position and I could never get it out.

Quality control is not a thing at Ataman. Overpriced guns that look good are what they do.

I had theyre pistols, they were pretty accurate as far as I know. I didn't test them enough to know for sure. It's 2X more than the Cossman. It may shoot as good.

Are you talking the AP16 pistol ?

You gotta be...a "little" more clear..!

My AP16 is VERY accurate, and...fun to shoot (and SO is my BP17 for that matter, if that's what Nate is talking about, again...not clear). My AP16 came to me visually flawless (in black). And only took a little adjusting to get the trigger action to be what I wanted (thanks to an Airgun Nation reader).

I can't comment about the Crossman, as I do not own one,

Nate - What's a B-17, (other than WW II bomber) ?

Mike

P.S. - Are you using a stock, ?

I've shot (alot) the ataman ap-16 long and own a fettled 1720t

The ataman is v good for a pistol. The 1720T, is very good for use as a rifle- or pistol. The stuff the 1720T does is just amazing

For FT, 1720T- for hunting ground squirrels within 50 yards, I would be quite happy w the Ataman

Its apples and pears for purpose& intent.

My 1720T has quite a few aftermarket parts to make it shoot so well for me. Box stock, it still is a fantastic shooter, but the huma, lighter trigger spring, custom pistol grip- wow.

I don't think I could shoot any ataman pistol as well as my 1720T shoots.

Having owned and tested virtually every air pistol worth having, and found the Crosman 1720 as accurate as any air pistol at any price, I don't deceive myself that the only serious air pistol I haven't owned will be as accurate as a 1720T.

But since my new Ataman AP16 (non-compact) is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, I'll know soon enough. And assuming my AP16 shoots well, we'll soon (finally) know how well one shoots at 50 yards.

Below are my testing notes on the 1720T that I used to own.

1720T 2.1619374006.jpg

2/21/2016- Three consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .66” with 8.4 grain JSB’s.

2/21/2016- Three consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .70” with 10.3 grain JSB’s

4/6/2016- Six consecutive 5 shot groups at 35 yards averaged .44” with 10.3 grain JSB’s.

7/21/2016- Six consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .74” c-t-c with 8.4 grain JSB’s.

2/27/2017- Five consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .71” c-t-c with 8.4 grain JSB’s

2/1/2018- Built a Mannlicher style fore-end and reduced the power to 12 FP for better PFT work.

4/9/2018- Three consecutive 5 shot groups at 50 yards averaged .76” c-t-c with 12 FP 8.4 JSB’s.

4/15/2018- Four consecutive 5 shot groups at 40 yards from Hunter FT position averaged .73”.

4/22/2018- Five consecutive 5 shot groups at 35 yards averaged .46” c-t-c with 8.4 JSB’s.

4/28/2018- Six consecutive 5 shot groups at 35 yards from Hunter position averaged .64” c-t-c.

AP16 is a repeater/multi shot I think and 1720 is a single shot. I shot my 1720T a ton and love it, stupid accurate even with crosman pellets if there is no wind. With huma regulator, customs grip and folding AR stock it’s one amazing carbine and simply sublime! Absolutely drills anything under 80 yards with 10 grain JSB or crosman or H&N. It goes toe to toe with my far more expansive FX guns in terms of accuracy under 80 yards.

AND it’s very hand pump friendly, very easy on air just too much fun. If you want to shoot pistol then I would recommend 1701P.
